Dryer Vent Needs Cleaning- Recommendations Needed

We recently bought a Patio Villa and would like to get the dryer vent cleaned/vacuumed. Has anyone had experience hiring someone-any recommendations. Thank you in advance!

call a very nice man by the name of desmond harris. Phone is 308-9343
I found out about him in this forum and called him. He is an expert on dryer vents. Plus his helper is very good also. If you want new baterys put in your smoke detectors he is an expert at that also.I think cost of doing the dryer work includes replacing the batterys but you have to supply the batterys. Call desmond he will do a great job for you. I think I paid him 50$ total.

desmond is indeed the right choice. he cleaned my dryer vent just yesterday.

Called Desmond

Thank you, I have left Desmond a VM. Appreciate your responses!

The correct number is 308-9243. Desmond does a great job, and it's amazing how much lint gets trapped in the vent.

I just use my (150 mph) leaf blower. A few seconds and the vent if clear. Of course there's lint all over the yard, but it's gone soon enough.

Thank you for the new number. He now has a secretary that takes his calls.

Desmond and helper did a great job! Very nice and professional. I would recommend him highly.

I do have a couple of comments. While it is not for everyone, I personally clean my dryer vent twice yearly and always get a sizeable amount of lint. The greatest accumulation is at the extreme top. I have a friend who recently hired a service company (Don't know who at this moment). I was shocked when he showed me the accumulation, it was the size of a basketball !!!! Having the dryer vent cleaned is a very important task that needs to be done on a regular basis.

I just today had my dryer vent cleaned for a second time in 3 years. Desmond Harris (352-308-7457) or for apt call (352-308-9243) did it this time and did a MUCH better job than the first person. He is very polite, reasonable ($50) and changed all the batteries in our smoke alarms (we supplied the batteries) at no additional cost. I would highly recommend him.

I'll join the chorus in recommending Desmond Harris for cleaning out the dryer vent. He did the job very well and he's a really nice guy. We will definitely use him in the future.

HOW? I was trying to picture using the leaf blower, but I can't see it.

How do you do it yourself?

I tried doing it myself with a leaf blower for 3 years (every 6 mos) after talking to a Villages resident who was charging $50 to clean dryer vents and told me he was booked up but to use the leaf blower.I asked him if he went up on the roof and he laughed and said it wasn't necessary. When I did it I always saw some lint on my roof so I assumed it was working, but wife continued to complain about the dryer being hot to the touch on the outside top. I called Desmond and he has a helper who goes up on the roof, and he found a wad of lint clogged in the exhaust flap. He told me that the lint gets moist overnight and hardens thus clogging he flap so it cannot open properly. So...I recommend calling Desmond who does right, and , most importantly, my wife stopped complaining (about this anyhow).

Desmond Harris

After reading the recommendations on TOTV, called Desmond to clean the clogged dryer vent. Dryer now works! Very efficient, reasonable cost and personable! Highly recommend...

Dryer vent

Recently purchased a 1 yr old villa and wrong dryer vent on roof had been installed...instead of vent with the flap to open once dryer on, there was a grease type vent with only a wire screen...lint was full from ceiling to floor..the problem was immediately corrected by contractor who was upset this occurred..
I was surprised the home inspector I used did not pick this up...
