Did anyone receive a US Census form?
I live in Pinellas and just received a U.S. Census form that needs to be filled out. Did anyone in the Villages recently receive the form?
|
Why would they send you a census form? I thought you only filled one out every 10 years.

What info are they asking for on the form and who do you mail it back to ? Be careful ! United States Census - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
Could be a scam.

Everything you can think of including my salary and all income, business information where I work, name of the business, etc... how old in the house, the resale value, too many questions!!!! Do you think it is real or not? It says it is from the US Census bureau and it is an American community survey on the top of the form.

Check with your Congressman/woman. They can tell you.

There is a survey done by the census bureau in non 10 year periods. It is described here: https://www.census.gov/acs/www/ You can see the items relates to the American Community Survey and it is legit.
What is the American Community Survey? The American Community Survey (ACS) is an ongoing survey that provides data every year -- giving communities the current information they need to plan investments and services. Information from the survey generates data that help determine how more than $450 billion in federal and state funds are distributed each year. To help communities, state governments, and federal programs, we ask about: •age •sex •race •family and relationships •income and benefits •health insurance •education •veteran status •disabilities •where you work and how you get there •where you live and how much you pay for some essentials All this detail is combined into statistics that are used to help decide everything from school lunch programs to new hospitals. |

Thank you! It is a form from the American Community Survey - so I should answer it?
|
I wouldn't - they are asking for too much information - too intrusive for my taste.

I would throw it in the trash. It's not a census year and I would not answer it.

The link below takes you to the census site where you can see the form they send out. If its NOT the same form I would throw it out.

I received one of those several months ago. They will continue to bother you to fill it out by continually sending you mail reminders etc etc. I have read that if you continue to refuse after the 4th time they try to get you to fill it out, they will start sending people to your house. The way I dealt with it was the questions I felt comfortable answering (how many live in the house and other stuff like that) I answered. The rest I either left blank or marked it as "refuse to answer" Just be sure to be truthful in your answers or they can come after you.

Here's a link to the legitimate form. Does it look like this ?

given the concerns regarding NSA, hackers getting your credit card and information fraud websites false advertising such as fake Disneyworld Website and Facebook breach, scam after scam after scam. I received a billing from Newspaper I subscribe to and after careful review and a call to the newspaper it was fake.
Even if this is a legitimate survey chances are your personal information is going to be passed around the country. I gave limited information on the census in 2010. Finally if anyone looks closely all of the indexes and leading indicators used by the government are so flawed in their application and political motivated require more space than is provided here. Beside who would read a long response here |
Do I have to answer these questions?
Yes. You are legally obligated to answer all the questions, as accurately as you can. The relevant laws are Title 18 U.S.C Section 3571 and Section 3559, which amends Title 13 U.S.C. Section 221. I would not suggest throwing it in the trash. Nor is it a cogent argument to suggest that if one believes that the gubment is using flawed data in its projections, the way to help is to refuse to give it good data. Obviously just the opposite is true. The more accurate the input to the data base, the better the utility of that data will be. |
the US census will not be conducted again until 2020. i have no idea what sort of census form you would get at this time. i think that it is bogus, but i would defininitely check the census website for advice.

If you do be sure to tell them you have 60 million dependents!
|
It's like some of the people that say "don't answer it" have not read any of the information supplied by Bogie and others.
1. You can check on the legitimacy of the form by going to their website or by calling them. 2. You are required by law to answer and to answer truthfully. 3. Stuff like this is what being a good citizen is all about. The answers you will provide help determine how 450 billion dollars is spent on infrastructure. 4. After the collected data is published, stores like Target and Walmart use it to determine where new stores will go. They rely on data like this much more than 20 people writing emails asking them to open a new store in their neighborhood. 5. If you still have questions about it, refer once again to point #2! |
