Psst !!! I have a secret-Weston's Smokehouse

i HOPE THE ADMINISTRATOR/MODERATOR WILL LEAVE THIS POST AT THIS LOCATION FOR A WHILE. Because the Villagers love eating out, this forum is the best way to get a message to a lot of people. Today my wife and I stumbled on a best kept secret in dining in the area. I had heard this restaurant was as good if not better than the BBQ found at the Oakwood Smokehouse. The Smokehouse is fantastic, and this restaurant surely is as good if not better. WESTONS SMOKEHOUSE at less than a year since opening on 301 at the north edge of Wildwood has wonderful BBQ along with a full menu, this includes smoked prime rib on a designated night. WESTONS also do catering. We had pulled pork sandwiches, the meat portion was at least a half pound of delicious BBQ. Give these young owners the opportunity to serve you, you will surely aree with me.

redwitch 03-07-2014 12:23 AM

Glad you liked it. Maybe they've improved from the time I tried them, but they lost me when their ribs were all fat, no meat.

BarryRX 03-07-2014 07:19 AM

I stopped there for the first time about 2 weeks ago for lunch and thought they did a real good job also.

bkcunningham1 03-07-2014 07:32 AM

My husband and brother-in-law "discovered" Weston's too. They love the place. Don had a prime rib sandwich that he said melted in his mouth. I haven't had the honor of going yet, but I will take their recommendation, along with your's, that they have good food at good prices.

TNLAKEPANDA 03-07-2014 07:41 AM

Always looking for good BBQ that is not too fatty~

Same here Red. We were there about a year ago and really didn't care for the food. The owners are very nice people and I wanted to like it and be able to recommend Weston's but couldn't.
I'll definitely try it again.

jblum315 03-07-2014 12:11 PM

i didn't like it and will never go back. Besides the brisket they served that was 90 percent fat, the mashed potatoes were prepared in a food processor (can't fool me - they have the consistency of damp plaster.)

skyguy79 03-07-2014 12:24 PM

Biggest secret? Several months ago we got food to go from Westons. What I got I sincerely hope was not the norm, but an exception to the rule as it was the absolute worse rib meal (quality and taste wise only) I've ever had since moving to TV, and I can even extend that to include any restaurant in the immediate TV area. I don't know if I'll ever be able to make myself order from there again, especially with what (IMHO) I feel are a number of other excellent BBQ places available!

zcaveman 03-07-2014 05:03 PM

Not really a secret!!! We tried it once and that was enough. Too many good BBQ places around compared to Weston's.

The restaurant has only been in business for 10 months.

I think this is another example of some like it some don't.
All restaurant postings are worthless. You have to experience the restaruant yourself.
How can half the people like a particular place and the other half will "never go back"?
I think posters on TOTV closed Oshays Sports bar on 44.......................

I agree with you about people's opinions of restaurants. There is no good or bad, due to differing tastes.

As for O'Shea's, I think the manager had a couple problems he needed to address and didn't.

Home - T. Weston's T Weston’s Smokehouse opened in downtown Wildwood in February, and the response is definitely smoking hot. At T Weston’s you’ll find only the freshest, highest quality meat including mouthwatering St. Louis Style ribs, Wagyu beef brisket, and pulled pork’. Owners Tracy and Aileen Smith are residents of Wildwood that wanted to bring their passion for upscale BBQ to their hometown. The Smiths are members of the Florida BBQ Association and have perfected their one-of-a-kind recipes and techniques traveling around the state competing in high level cook off competitions.

T Weston’s is situated in downtown Wildwood in the former home of what many consider to be a Wildwood BBQ landmark. The building sat empty for several years until the Smiths purchased it in 2012 and began work on a full scale renovation. Residents of the Wildwood area stopped in frequently throughout the building process curious to see what was going on. T Weston’s opened for take-out in late February to an eager community, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

“It is so gratifying for us to see customers enjoy the food, atmosphere, and visit us again with their family and friends,” said Tracy and Aileen.
Lunch and dinner are served in the warm and welcoming dining room or can be called ahead and picked up at a convenient to-go window. Guests are also welcome to visit the beautiful bar area to enjoy our selection of fine beer and wine.

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, The Smiths have quickly pinpointed the secret ingredients to success recognizing that it takes more than just a passion for food to make it in the challenging restaurant industry. Operating a restaurant and building a thriving business requires totally different skills and expertise that they have acquired with over 16 years of business experience and running their other successful business Landscape Productions LLC.

My guess would be you are both correct. The take-out portion opened for business in late-February. I would guess the sit down portion opened, like they told you, two months later.

My wife Ann and I have been going to TWeston's since they opened in March 2013. We enjoy the food, the small neighborhood atmospher, the service and the fact the owners are there every day and do their best to make sure you had good food. We also think folks should get down and try the food.

TWeston's smokehouse opened in February 2013 for take out only, the dining room was not ready. The dining room opened in March 2013. The reason I know is my wife Ann and I were at TWeston's when they opened the dining room. We just happened to be driving by and smelled the BBQ, crossed the bridge, turned around and drove back, turned left into the parking lot and went in to check the place out. We loved the look, the friendly folks who met us at the door, the server who seated us, and the menu. The smells coming from the kitchen were wonderful and we were not disapointed. The Chef and co-owner Tracey and the owner and manager Aileen came by to talk to us while we were waiting on the food and again after we ate to see if there was anything that would make our visit better, they wanted to make sure we were happy so we would be repeat customers. We are repeat customers.

Some folks post what they have heard or what they have read without finding out what is the truth. Tracey the Chef and co-owner and Aileen the owner and manager opened take out window in Feb 2013 but did not open the dining room till March 2013, they are celebrating the opening of the dining room since the dining room is the restaraunt, the take out window was just take out.

Ann and I heard the folks at Weston's Smokehouse were offering Lamb chops and sea scallops tonight so we made our way to their door about 6:00 PM. On arrival we noticed there was only one parking spot left and we took it. As we entered the smokehouse was jumping, lots of folks, talking, laughing, eating, and just enjoying being out with friends and family with a good meal.

Tracey the Chef does not offer sea scallops and lamb chops all the time, every now and then Tracey does add new items to the menu and you have to hear about it from the regulars or by going to their web site, but when new items are offered, they are fantastic and the regulars show up in numbers. Those who just happen to drive by and stop in are lucky and get to try new items or the regular items.

Home - T. Weston's

The four smoked lamb chops were cooked just right, were the right cut and size, juicy, perfect smoke ring and tasted and looked great. Ann and I could not make up our minds on what we were going to eat. Ann was there for the lamb chops, but when the server mentioned sea scallops Ann could not decide between the two so she ordered the sea scallops and I ordered the lamp chops and we shared. The five sea scallops wrapped in bacon were large, and cooked just the way Ann and I like them, toss in the wine, ice tea, bread, mashed potatoes, broccoli, collard greens, and a house salad with blue cheese dressing and we were stuffed.

While waiting on our food we talked with each other and those around us, Weston's is a quaint neighborhood smokehouse with tables and booths that allow you to enjoy your neighbors or not, it is up to you if you talk with other than your own table. Tracey the chef and co-owner and his wife Aileen the owner come out and chat with all the customers who want to chat, they enjoy meeting folks, and cooking for and serving folks. After all, a happy customer is a repeat customer, there are times when customers may not be happy, after all, we all have different taste, but no matter the mood of the customers, Tracey and Aileen bend over backwards to make unhappy customers happy customers and happy customers repeat customers.

Ann and I go to Weston's at least once a week if not more for lunch or the evening meal and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service.

If you have not been to Weston's you should give it a try and become a regular if you enjoy the food and the fun.

Sorry you thought there was more fat than meat, but when I go and I go a lot, there is just the right amount of fat, the meat is not dry, and the service is always great.

We all like what we like and am sorry you did not care for the food, I and many others do like TWeston's and will be going back for more food, fun, conversation and that neighborhood smokehouse look. Hope you go back and try again, but if you still do not like it am sure there are plenty of places that server BBQ the way you like it.

We somehow ended up in Wildwood, Fl on our way back to Atlanta from Tampa, fl. When we came across T. Weston’s Smokehouse. There was a line out in front so we decided to give it a try. Turns out that they have only been open for four days and were only doing take out. I ordered the beef brisket salad and my wife got the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was excellent and portions were very large and the staff was very friendly. Would highly recommend T. Weston’s Smokehouse. It might seem like a long way from highway 75, about 6 miles off exit 329, but it is well worth the drive. “Great Barbecue”

No idea how some folks who have posted here keep talking about all the fat, I have been eating at TWeston's since they opened and have never had too much fat, have had just the right amount of fat. The mashed potatoes have also been good for me. What ever happened to telling the Chef and server when you do not like something so they can fix any issues? New restaraunts can not stay in business if folks do not tell them what they like and do not like about the food, service, and atmospher.

Four of us ate there last eve and we all were very pleased. The brisket and ribs were super.

Sure would be nice if folks would point out what they did and did not like to the Chef when they are eating or once they have completed eating so the Chef will know what folks like and do not like. As far as your fat comment, I eat at westons all the time and the fat on their meat is just the right amount, but we all have different taste.

redwitch 03-28-2014 08:33 PM

Just out of curiosity, how often are you going to quote what I said about the poor quality of their food? To my mind, you are either an investor in Weston's or get a really good deal on their meals for constantly touting it. And denials to the contrary mean nothing.

Sorry, but I have no reason to tell a chef his ribs are all fat -- that is something that is obvious before he puts them on a plate. A bbq restaurant has no excuse for ribs that are over 75% fat.

The first time we went, I thought the brisket was way too fatty. I didn't say anything because we were with friends that took us and had raved about the place. A couple of months later, we decided to give them a second try. We had to wait to get seated, and the owner came by and was talking to us. I told him it was our second time there, but I thought the first time the meat was too fatty and I would like a lean portion of brisket. He said 'no problem' I am so sorry your were disappointed the first time, and I wish you had told your server then that you liked leaner meat. The meal that night was perfect! He came around and asked how our food was.
So, from that visit, I gather that if you make your desires known, you will have a good chance of getting what you want. JMHO
