Do you believe in The Bible

Found this interesting reading about the use of cannabis by Jesus to heal the sick.

Marijuana in the Bible | Patients for Medical Cannabis

You truly are obsessed with marijuana, Golfingnut. It has been thoroughly discussed here as a tax benefit, recreational use, and medicinal use. Enough already?

bkcunningham1 03-08-2014 08:28 AM

I'm sorry Lou but I nearly spit coffee onto my keyboard when I saw your source as High Times Magazine.

That's why I was so stoned at the Bette Midler Red Rocks concert!

I would not want to use the medical knowledge of 30 AD for the various problems of 2014. Personally, I do not like to take any medication of any kind unless I have to for some reason.

billethkid 03-08-2014 08:36 AM

I was going to answer the question in the thread title until I saw the real subject matter.

graciegirl 03-08-2014 08:39 AM

People are beginning to say that Lou is about marijuana how I am about the Morses.:blahblahblah:

So glad you are back, graciegirl. Have you met the Morses yet?

I smoked some maryjane around 5th grade and never felt much of a desire to try anything after that except where I had no choice because of the weed laced concert venues like those of BB King, Eric Clapton, Yes, Styx, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Joe Jackson and perhaps some Lake Tahoe Shakespeare plays. Shakespeare must sound better when stoned to some.

People should be able to grow their own so they know exactly where it came from. Planted between the tomatoes and tyme. I'm not sure about totally trusting a pharmacist.

Great post Don

DonH57 03-08-2014 12:57 PM

Thanks Lou. I never really read High Times magazine or subscribed to it. I know it's been around a long time. I truly miss National Lampoon magazine. Great rag.

I never have either, I am closer to a good ole boy red neck than I am a hippie. I do care for the old, sick and handy caped very much. I wonder if I am breaking any good ole boy covenants by caring about social ills yet I drink beer, own guns, eat red meat.

It sounds like faith healing. They may not have known what caused what. They mixed a lot of ingredients together and had faith that it would do them good. Was it the ingredients, or was it their faith that healed them?
This might be similar to the placebo effect where non active ingredients actually cure people of various conditions.

Very good. You receive 5 Gold stars for that post IN MY OPINION. I don't often get caught off guard and say holly s#%€. You absolutely made my day with that one. Thank you!!!!

kittygilchrist 03-08-2014 02:17 PM

I would not want to be in the shoes of anyone throwing verbal stones at Jesus. He is full of grace and truth, but warns against blaspheming the Holy Spirit. He freely offers truth and life and instead people prefer a multitude of lies. I can't go along with the sentiment of this thread that it is humorous to say Jesus healed by marijuana.

anything that explains away that Jesus was God in the flesh makes those feel better who do not know who he is.

I'm going to show my lack of sophistication and admit that the only thing that would make Shakespeare sound better to me would be Nyquil.

Miss Kitty. There was no disrespect to Jesus in this thread. To me Jesus was a hero after reading the sermon on the mount.

Perhaps none intended...Those who crucified him accused him of healing by Satanic means and hung him for blasphemy. How ironic is that? He healed every single person who came to him or asked him, even brought back, I think 3 people from death. The fact is Jesus did not heal by marijuana, he healed by the merciful miraculous love of God.
He doesn't need my defense, but I have to ask those posting to consider who it is you are using to get attention for a cause.

graciegirl 03-08-2014 02:39 PM

POINT: I have met you and know you to be a special soul. Sorry for the drama, but no disrespect meant. I will go into detail at the next happy hour..
I am an agnostic, but think Jesus was a wonderful profit with a message that I try to follow every day.

I will have to research unless Doug is still on line and comes to my rescue.

Religious opinions and beliefs are much like political ones, they are individual and varied and should stay private.

Correct, but I cannot say I do not know Jesus if asked. But, point well taken and understood.

No disrespect?

Did you READ the link you posted to?

It says, "Indeed, our modern concepts of Jesus, such as the virgin birth and the Resurrection, fall away."

It says, in effect, that Jesus was not the Son of God, and needed herbs to heal people. God does not need herbs to heal people.

You are on the wrong path.

Actually, the link was VERY disrespectful ... I think a clarification as to the motive for posting, or apology is now appropriate

Next TOTV Happy Hour is Saturday, March 15 at the Saturday Night Dance club at the Captiva Rec Center. Club starts at 6:00. Get there early to get a seat. Look for the TOTV balloon to find our table. Seating is limited. The band Vinyl Recall will be playing. BYOB, food and snacks! Bible study will follow.

Fully agree and lets hope a lot of the postings are for humor only. We do not need a nation of pot smokers. We outlaw tobacco or try to and then pass laws for other smokes.

Bonanza 03-09-2014 03:24 AM

After quickly breezing through these posts, I've come to the conclusion that anything that refers to religious opinions and remarks should be vetoed, just like anything political. I am not speaking about humorous things, but rather the serious posts.

Enough already!

Mr. Grampi II 03-09-2014 06:35 AM

I tried it once in some brownies on a guys only camping trip. I belonged to a club in Toledo that camped on an island in the winter, you had to walk across the ice to get to the camping site. It was 14 below the night we had selected to camp out. Somebody brought the brownies and I ate 3 of them, not knowing what was in them. I had on a flame orange coveralls that you hunt deer in, I got too close to the fire trying to stay warm. I burned out the seat of my overalls, from the belt down to my knees, right down to the blue jeans under it and never knew a thing until morning....

Looks like I found another one that won't be lighting up any time soon. LOL

Does Marijuana Damage Brain Cells?

I did find this article on brain cells and maryjane interesting.

I have had enough of a struggle trying to keep my brain cells working well so why risk it if there is some effect? Still if someone inviting me to a No Doubt concert, I would no doubt be exposed to marijuana smoke. Or, at least, it is very probable that some No Doubt would be blowing around. Every other concert that attracts teens and twenty somethings I have gone to has had some marijuana fumes. Maybe, if I were into Christian music, but then again I should not assume Christian teens might also smoke pot, especially when away from their parents.
