Agree, even as a farm boy, I see it as troublesome.

well, considering we've had Daylight Savings Time in one for form or another for almost 100 years (originally enacted in the US in 1917), I would think we should all be used to it by now. I for one, enjoy the added daylight later in the day for outdoor activities and entertaining.

Would love to always see it stay lighter longer.

Love the night time. Guess it goes back to when I was working - leave home in the dark and return home in the dark !

:agree: Although I prefer the springtime change to DST, love the long days. One hour time change isn't that hard to overcome and esp when the days are longer, more time to get a nap...

I'm not thrilled about it, but I wouldn't say that it screws up everything. I like the longer days of summer. I don't think I'd like it getting light at 4:00 am and then dark at 8:00 pm in the middle of summer. Then again, if we didn't turn them back in the winter, we wouldn't see light until about 8:00 am.

My idea would be to push all the clocks ahead one half hour next fall and then leave them there.

A side note. I spent my life running golf courses. Every year on the first day that we'd turn the clocks back in October, several people would miss their tee time. We have a pool in the golf shop to see who would do it.

I like the extra daylight ... what irritates me is the occasional clock or timepiece that makes it complicated to change the hour. Most are easy ... a few require the manual to figure it out.

I hated the time change when our kids were babies, mainly because their internal clocks took so long to adjust--a couple weeks of getting up at 5 am instead of 6.

Now I love it. Especially the switch to DST. The more sun that's out while I am awake, the better I feel.

We've had a lot of gloomy days this winter. Bring on the summer!

I had a car once whose clock reset was unfathomable, even with the manual. My solution was to let it be wrong for six months.

Like mornings, I believe DST should be banned from life. Leave the time set (love the 1/2 hr suggestion by Dr. Boogie) and we'll have our share of daylight and I won't lose that hour's sleep. My internal clock doesn't adjust. My cats get confused. My dogs (when I had them) liked morning walks in the dark. Dumb idea in 1917, dumber idea in 2014.

I was raised in Jax Fl. I do not remember DST back in the 50s-60s. In the late 60s, I do remember that NJ had DST and we did not and we had to calculate the time to call the home office in NJ.

I remember that we just stayed out a little later in the summer months. Bedtime was still 9 PM when I was a kid.

I have always hated the time changes.

This clock changing is dumb. Arizona doesn't do the clock nonsense and they do just fine. Time for this archaic idea to end.

Ya know.....people who work for a living just might like having an hour or two of daylight once they get home from work, and school students deserve to see some daylight too.

The piety of early-morning people without a job to go to gets to be quite nauseating.

Days would automatically get longer as earth's axis changes and we approach the summer solstice and get shorter as we approach the winter equinox. No need for artificial maneuvering with this clock changing. The people of 1916 (the year before this started) did just fine.

Wow I never dreamed I'd be in the minority on this one. I'm not a fan at all :ohdear: It messes with my sleep for almost a week. I'd be OK if we could always move them back an hour :clap2::clap2: That was meant as a joke so no one needs to write back to explain to me why that wouldn't pan out for me. :icon_wink:

There was actually a woman that wrote into a local newspaper complaining that the extra hour of daylight was burning up her lawn and wanted to eliminate the time change.

Sounds like the lady who wanted the deer crossing signs moved off of her street so they would cross somewhere else.

There is currently a bill in the Florida House and another bill in the Florida Senate to eliminate the time changing in Florida. Supporters of the two bills are asking people to contact their House Representatives and State Senators.

Well, if they must get rid of one of them, thank goodness it's the EST.

My dog knows when it's 6:00- feeding time. He doesn't have a clue about changing clocks so when 6 rolls around he wants to be fed. Is it 5:00 or is he right, it's still 6? Can you argue with a dog's stomach that is flawless in telling time? I don't think so. He hasn't been off by more than 3 minutes yet. And he'll get vocal until he's fed. I vote for NOT changing clocks until you can teach an old dog to tell time.
