Evans Prairie ----GREAT!
We all post when we are not satisfied so it is only fair to post when something is great. Four or us went to Evans Prairie for dinner after golf and asked to be seated outside. After escorting us outside, there were no available tables so the hostess said would you mind a high-top table that are usually only for drinks and she'd send over a waiter. Dean arrived and took the drinks order, came back to apologize for the wait as the bar was backed up. Said he'd put in 2nd drink order as soon as he picked up 1st one so we wouldn't wait next time. Took dinner order. All orders were correct and terrific. I had the citrus pork tenderloin dinner and it was awesome. Others got the steak salad, chicken fettucini alfredo, chicken marsala. All were terrific. Dean was most attentive but not intrusive. Great night, great dinner, great ambience, great company.:coolsmiley:

We love Evans Prairie ! Its our favorite place to eat.

Now if they would only do something about the noise level in the inside dining rooms...unbearably loud!!
|
We also like Evan's Prairie. Good food and great employees.
We also like Bonifay as well. Had a good dinner there yesterday ! |
Its all in relationship to the competition and based on posters comments Evans Prairie gets passing grades as does Lopez. Evergreen is passable but like many of the restaurants here the noise level is distracting. At Evergreen the main distraction seems to be the pullback and forth of chairs on the title floor
As an aside there are people who are more sensitive to noise, crowds etc and hence may be viewed as complainers for no apparent reason but it is in their DNA. I read a book about such individuals. quite interesting. I know, because my daughter bought the book for me as she analyzed my problem to help me. I am the type of person that can plan the party work it, etc but I don't enjoy attending it, the former activity freeing me to focus on task |
Could y'all keep it down? I'm trying to eat lunch.

One of the better Country Clubs.

It's so nice to see so many nice comments on Evan's Prairie. The staff and the managers work very hard to create a wonderful experience for everyone. I just wish that some people would be more understanding to wait times. In peak season all the restaurants are very busy and often have a 45 minute plus wait time. When the hostess greets a patron they are often told of the wait and it is suggested that the accept a First Available status on the list. The First Available simply means you may receive your table earlier and it could be either inside or outside/patio of the restaurant. We all know that on beautiful days the patio areas on any of the country clubs can be filled with no seating. The wait time in peak is often longer for a patio table. Most patrons don't mind the wait because they love the patio and the view. However there are those who accept the First Available or specify the patio and 20 minutes into their wait time quoted begin to get inpatient. All of us employed in the country clubs work very hard to seat the patrons as quickly as possible. What I have experienced lately is people becoming angry about waiting. Again we try to seat all our patrons in a timely manner and adhere to our quoted time frames. In the past few weeks I have been called stupid, sworn at and had menus tossed at me. I love the residents of The Villages but I don't understand this behavior and again it is a select few.

Good place to eat and drink.
Saw that they will be serving breakfast starting next month. |
Evans Prairie is great. Think they have very good hamburgers. Also, if you have not had Shepard's Pie there, you should try it. Though it's beef rather then lamb, it comes close to what one might get at a Pub in England.

Ate there earlier this week. $15 for lunch which included tip. Last time we went through a fast food restaurant it was knocking on $18 for a pretzel bread chicken sandwich, fries and beverage for 2. I would rather do the $24-$30 for EP than $18 for fast food.

Good to hear the wonderful reviews we'll have to give it a try. Lopez has always been our favorite plus it's only a few minutes by golf cart but always looking for a change.

Went to EP last Monday night - we are newer TVrs, second time there. Wanted to try their 2 for $25 petite filet dinners. Service good - but when the entrees came, there was no au jus on the plate. The filet (both of ours) was plain, the mashed potatoes plain, and steamed broccoli. It was prepared nicely and tasty - but a bit of au jus would have capped it wonderfully. When the plates were brought, I asked if they had au jus -No, then asked gravy? - no. She offered A1 or Heinz steak sauce... nope... So the dinner was fine but the steak would have been great if juicier or gravylike on the side - also for the mashed. I mentioned to her again when the -clean/empty- plates were picked up. SHOULD have mentioned it to mgr on our way out, but forgot.
No big deal but, would have thought EP would offer some sort of au jus side for their steak or mashed. And yes - a bit loud... went to Lopez Sat night - and yikes. Seems as if the groups LOVE to talk as if they are in a BallPark... |
Went back to EP this Monday night - we're only 10 min away and wanted a nice dinner. Thankfully the dining room was not crowded -even with Cinco De Mayo - at 7:30.
She tried the Pineapple Teriyaki salmon, me the Shepard's Pie with asparagus. I had a $3 Margarita too. The salmon was prepped perfectly -she HAS to have it medium/rare. Asked for light Teriyaki (watching sodium) the server Tajiri had it out on the side in a small cup. Her entree was great - and good the Teriyaki was on the side -very salty, but dipped a bit into it. My Shepard's pie was so wonderful - the meat was seasoned nicely with lots of corn pieces - the mashed potatoes on top was a bit crispy from a trip thru the broiler (as Tajiri mentioned when describing the dish). We both ate about 2/3 and boxed the rest for "doggie"...sure... (had the rest last night...). Salmon was $16.95, SP $14.95. Wonderful! And the service was the same. So, for us - 3rd time to EP - and we will certainly go back. We are happy the TV offers nice dining option at Evans Prairie... |
