Dress Code For Golf

We are coming for a preview visit in May and want to play golf and were wondering if there is a dress code. We will probably be renting our clubs instead of bring them with us. Does anyone know the cost of club rental?

DonH57 03-27-2014 12:07 PM

I would recommend checking out the website ( golfthevillages.com ). It should have the information for you and phone numbers for any info not on the website. That's only help I can give.

kfierle 03-27-2014 12:18 PM

Information for the dress code for golf is located here. Information for club rental is also in the same document.

Thank you for the information. I also called the pro shop today and got the information I needed. We will bring a check book just in case we find our perfect home. We are counting the days until we can enjoy the Villages in person instead of on line. I love how friendly everyone is and how people answer our questions so quickly.

It might be more cost effective to send your clubs UPS - don't know the rates but it's a thought. By the way if you are in your 20's and HOT they will let you play with very short shorts. Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying it's a fact.

They, in this case are still trying to figure out the definition of "hot"!

Denim allowed here at The Village golf courses was the only difference we found from any other Club where we had membership. That part of the dress code was a surprise.

We always have extra set of clubs for our guests----sorry I don't know the rental charge or quality of the golf clubs. Last time I rented clubs (in Vegas 5 years ago) I paid $50.00.

villagerjack 03-27-2014 09:08 PM

Two years ago we paid $6.00 for the day for use of clubs....out of Havana.

uprivergirl 03-28-2014 12:28 AM

I called the pro shop and the rate of clubs is $7.50 for 9 holes and $15.00 for 18 holes.

Thanks again for the replies/ I am already loving the people in the Villages.

graciegirl 03-28-2014 06:05 AM

Buy a set at Goodwill then donate them back. I've seen club sets in the $15 range (plus you won't have to worry if they get stolen or runover by a cart)

If you are interested in playing an executive course, I do not believe any of them rent clubs. Just speculating, but it might be worth your while to ask your sales rep, or the one assigned to you, if he might have access to some clubs. If I were a sales rep, I would have some extra sets for loaners. They love to please potential buyers!

No clubs at execs.

You can rent clubs at one of the country clubs to play the execs with. Of course you have to pick them up and return them.

Maybe it works some of the time if you have an appreciative man in the starter shack who likes short shorts. My girlfriend has two daughters in their 20s who were recently refused play on an Exec course because of their shorts. They were told they had to go home and change. :loco:

Short shorts

They must have been super short shorts but must have been a "grouchy old' starter shack man. More likely to be refused at a Championship Course. :sing:

fred53 03-28-2014 09:17 PM

You can rent clubs at the championship courses...

and they have new sets for this year...you can use them at the executive courses also.

fred53 03-28-2014 09:22 PM

Oddly enough "being grouchy" isn't the reason..

anymore than allowing folks to wear t-shirts with offensive pictures/words. It's a desire to have people dress appropriately. Sure I realize there are those of you who don't care, but you're likely the same ones who would leave garbage in your yard and let your dogs go anywhere, but your own lawn.

It's called being civilized and like opening a door for someone it's gone out of style a bit. That's a shame because being a jerk isn't a good thing and wearing short shorts has only one purpose and it has zip to do with being overheated by the weather.

Don't like it? Move on.....no one is stopping you....

fred53 03-28-2014 09:27 PM

So what's the big deal?

if a restaurant says sports coats with ties that's what a man wears. It's a simple rule that your friends daughters don't like...tough...this isn't a college campus or night club. It's a golf course and has it's own set of rules that may seem outmoded...so don't golf. It's free choice...play or don't play.

fred53 03-28-2014 09:28 PM

And they were simply stating that...

I didn't say my friend's daughters were upset and I didn't say that they didn't like obeying golf rules. No need to compare people wearing inappropriate golf attire to people who leave garbage in their yard.

Gomoho posted you could wear short shorts and I was describing a situation where two girls were asked to go home and change. That's all.

Yes, yes Fred I know.

graciegirl 03-29-2014 06:11 AM

A bug or something in the air, or something.

Fred, there is irritability going around. Mine has lasted a few days, but I am beginning to feel better. Sometimes you just have to say how you feel.

I am from Ohio and yesterday I acted like someone from another part of the country.

I vow to remember my upbringing today.

You certainly could move here as long as you're over 19. Anyone can buy a home here regardless of age.
