Salon Chioma

STEER CLEAR:
I had been going here for 3 years.....they always had high end brands until 6 months ago. They changed to a cheap brand. My color was way off and we couldn't get it right....and my cuts have not been good. I used to get asked 3 times a week "where do you get your hair done?" by strangers. I decided yesterday was my last time. I didn't tell them....I just didn't make another appt. I get home and there is a message on my phone saying "we will not color your hair again, if you want cuts, okay, but you are never satisfied, etc." It was not even the owner....just the reception guy!!! Can you imagine? What class, huh? I called back and told him how inappropriate that call was and I would NEVER be returning to that salon...don't worry!! I paid between $87-$125 per service with $15-$20 tips. At Christmas, I gave my stylist an $80 bonus tip. On top of all of this I see this morning my hair cut is GROSSLY uneven!!! I wish I'd never left a tip!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING: DON'T GO TO SALON CHIOMA!!!!

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 09:21 AM

I want to say....I am not just disgruntled.....I was a satisfied customer for 3 years...so this is really uncalled for and unprofessional. They need to go out of business!

What stylist did you use?

I had heard Salon Chioma was an excellent salon. I tried to get an appointment in November with Michael and was told it would be three months before he had an open appointment.

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 09:46 AM

I have been using Sheryl for 3 years....like I said.....they used to use Oribe and Davines products, then unbeknownst to me they switched to Paul Mitchell (UGH)!! The colors are terrible!!! Anyway, not so much the salon but what they did to me and MICHAEL the salon owner had his receptionist call and do the dirty work....he couldn't even handle it when I was there or do it himself. NICE!!!

I knew I'd get slammed so I removed my first reference.

skyc6 04-12-2014 10:25 AM

Wow! I have to say that I LOVE Salon Chioma!! They are professional and courteous and I have never had such good cuts. I color my hair myself and buy it on Ebay, but Michael has offered more than once to buy it for me at his distributor and sell it to me at cost.
It does sound like you should find another salon if the color does not suit you but I have been nothing but pleased!
What difference does the relationship matter between the owner and the receptionist? I find that part of your comment unnecessary.

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 10:48 AM

Hellllo....I had many many wonderful color and cuts....but they made my last experience TOTALLY UNNECESSARY!!! RUDENESS and unprofessional....someday it will happen to you. I've already stopped many people from experiencing this unprofessional salon!!!!
YES, I am MAD that MICHAEL was so unprofessional to a longtime customer and didn't have the decency to do it himself or in person!!!

shcisamax 04-12-2014 11:00 AM

I can't respond to the above without getting flagged but I will say that commenting on someone's sexual preference is totally irrelevant to the issue.

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 11:07 AM

I didn't say his sexual preference.... and he was totally irrevelant to me and deserves no respect.

shcisamax 04-12-2014 11:14 AM

What was said was "Michael had his partner (husband/wife)" which is definitely referring to sexual preference.

Whoa, so glad you cleared that up. I thought you were disgruntled.

Bonny 04-12-2014 12:41 PM

WOW, I must say this is one angry thread !
A beware of the Salon is one thing, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
No need for a bunch of exclamation points.

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 12:49 PM

yep!!!!

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 12:52 PM

That's why we live in America !!!!

If Michael or the receptionist anticipated a poor reaction from a disgruntled client, it would be prudent to make a call to them at home rather than address it in the salon. As for the call coming in from the receptionist rather than Michael, it is a partnership between the two so it could have been either to make the call.

Give up....I think I have made my point!!! Now if you are not interested in salons...butt out.

skyc6 04-12-2014 01:45 PM

If a client is not pleased at a salon, then it is wise to look elsewhere, which you plan to do. I don't think it is necessary for a salon to "go out of business" as you suggest because you are not satisfied with your haircolor. Many others are satisfied which is why it is so hard to get an appointment with this business. Your leaving will make space for someone else and you will be happier too. You did say in your original post that it was stated that "you are never satisfied." That would imply that there have been other times when you were disgruntled, so it must have been more than the change to Paul
Mitchell products. I hope you find a new place to your liking. I am sure all parties will be happy when you are settled elsewhere.
I do wonder at your statement "if you are not interested in salons, ...butt out!"
That makes it very clear in a classy way.

shcisamax 04-12-2014 01:48 PM

I understand the receptionist whose name BTW is Ray had to ask a man to leave a couple weeks ago because he was making a significant "scene" over having to wait longer than expected. Perhaps, Ray anticipated a similar "scene" evidenced by the language here and chose not to subject the other clients to it. Just offering a rational answer to what seems to be perceived outrageous behavior.

shcisamax 04-12-2014 02:00 PM

I know you are unhappy with your hair color but your post colors are beautiful. How do you do that?

Thank you for clearing that up. You had me confused.

I went back and read it again....still confused. There are just so many issues, the color, the cut, the price, the TIPS and that you were dismissed (by THE HELP:shocked:).

What has me most confused is why you would want to continue going there. Clearly they can't do you hair to your liking and don't appreciate your generous nature.

skyc6 04-12-2014 02:36 PM

Well, this all appears to be a moot point now. There have been no other posters who share this disgruntled opinion. One client moves on and another on the wait list can get services.
All's well that ends well and Salon Chioma is a thriving business bursting at the seams with clients. It is a Happy Day in the Villages again!

I know, I just called for an appointment, can't do me till May 18.

Did you all know that Chioma translates to "Great God" in igbo. What better endorsement is there?

shcisamax 04-12-2014 02:54 PM

Sky6: Does just EVERYONE know how to do color? well, everyone except Chioma LOL.
I bet if you, Patty55, call back and tell them you know Igbo, they will get you in sooner.

Oh please, like I'm the only resident fluent in igbo. All the better schools offer it.

skyc6 04-12-2014 03:14 PM

Did you know that Igbo is the largest Ethnic group in Africa?
Since Chioma means "good God" in Igbo, I am pretty sure that if Michael read all these posts, he would be saying "Chioma!, himself"

CHIOMA CHIOMA CHIOMA!!!!

skyc6 04-12-2014 03:19 PM

BTW----if any posters are interested in going to SALON CHIOMA, and you mention who sent you there, both you and the recommending person will get a 20% discount. Since snowbirds have left, you may be able to get in.
You can say Schisamax or Skyc6 and get your discount.

CHIOMA CHIOMA CHIOMA!!!!

Of course I knew that, what do you all think I make this stuff up?

The 20% discount is a good thing, if you have 5 friends you go for FREE, with 6 you get Chin Chin. I believe that with 10 friends a bona-fide Prince contacts you to share their fortune.

Go for it!! This is like winning the Lottery! What would you do with a prince, though, Patti? Maybe he just shares the fortune and moves on!

perrjojo 04-12-2014 04:07 PM

Oh dear, Patty, you may get me in trouble, but Chioma also can mean Good Luck. Maybe it really means good luck with your hair. Sorry no offense meant. I just couldn't resist. By the way Patty, thanks for enlightening me. I never knew there was a Igbo language. One more trivia question that I will know.

It may have been a bad cut on purpose to insure that you don't come back.

tigger_kitty 04-12-2014 04:49 PM

You are all so ignorant and never got the point! I wasn't going to go there anymore as I wasn't satisfied. What I was sounding off about was the manner in which Michael treated me. I have never been anything but polite there.
THEY did away with the 20% off about 2 years ago...so obviously you don't go there......

Don't worry...every DOG has it's day......karma is a B as they say.

claricecolin 04-12-2014 04:57 PM

Really calling everyone ignorant? This is turning into the Designing Women episode called "Julia get her head stuck in a fence"

Thank you for the update, I cancelled my appointment. A real shame, I was looking forward to the FREEBIE and Chin Chin.

Bonny 04-12-2014 05:01 PM

Wow !!! This is just getting down right nasty & personal.
I don't think everyone needs to be called ignorant. :ohdear:
Maybe time to stop posting on this thread.

I thought the issue was that Michael DIDN'T "treat you". That Ray spoke to you rather than Michael.

The 20% is still in effect...at least I was given it a couple months ago.

skyc6 04-12-2014 05:56 PM

I was given the 20% off rather recently when I referred a new neighbor.

If I owned my own business and a customer talked to me the way you have, and was repeatedly "not satisfied," I would be glad to send you somewhere else too.
Attitude is everything and politeness and courtesy have not gone out of style.
What is interesting is that not 1 single poster here has agreed with you. Food for thought!
