New dog is home and getting acquainted.

We just picked up our new mini-Sport like dog from Max's Pet Connection which was at Pet Smart this morning. Met someone we all fell in love with and brought him home. :mademyday:

No if he only will behave himself at Doggie Doo Run Run.

mickey100 04-12-2014 02:30 PM

Congrats!

Parker 04-12-2014 02:33 PM

Pictures, pictures! We will love him with you. Oh, and name please?

graciegirl 04-12-2014 02:35 PM

Right. WHERE IS YOUR CAMERA??? Oh he ate it? Congratulations on making a doggie happy in your home. I hope the happiness you give him comes back to you ten fold. You are a kind man.

shcisamax 04-12-2014 02:55 PM

We have some pictures but I will have to wait and see how to load them.

His name is Beau. He was a stray found in Crystal River and is about 1.5 years old. Same color as Sport, same attitude to a certain degree, but does not seem to be a digger. He has been to Doggie Doo Run Run already and seemed to like it.

Susan G 04-12-2014 06:47 PM

Great News

So nice to see you getting another rescue. I wish you and Beau:welcome: many happy years together here in The Villages....He is certainly ONE LUCKY DOG!!! Susan

KathieI 04-12-2014 06:51 PM

Tal, I'm sooooo happy for you and your family. This is wonderful news. Congratulations Beau,, you are now part of a wonderful family!!!! :MOJE_whot:
I purchased a beautiful male Schnauzer a few years ago from Max's Pet Connection. He was just sooooo beautiful and loving, I loved him to death. Unfortunately, my male was horrible with him, totally upset that I had another male here and he gave the poor darling a very hard time for 48 hours. It was awful, I cried my eyes out for the baby and I didn't sleep a wink the entire time.

I had to return him not only because Sam was such a brat but I also felt it was totally unfair to bring a rescue into a home where he wasn't wanted by his other companions. It was one of the saddest things I had to do. He is now an only dog with a wonderful gentleman who treats him like a king.

Good luck Beau, enjoy DDRR....

Bonnevie 04-13-2014 11:09 AM

I've been meaning to take my dogs to DDRR...hope to see you both there sometimes.
glad to hear you gave a stray a home.

Congrats Tal. I hope he does well at the dog park. I hear some of those female dogs can be real bitches!

Barefoot 04-13-2014 12:25 PM

Tal, the news is all over the dog park. :pepper2:

I was just at DDRR, talking to Scout's dad, and he told me your good news.
I am so happy for you.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at DDRR and meeting your new friend.

Baileysmom 04-13-2014 08:03 PM

Congratulations! Thank you for giving a pet a forever home. You will get so much more than you give. Such unconditional love! We adopted our wired-haired Jack Russell 3 years ago and he has been such a blessing. Please post pics!.

GeoGeo 04-15-2014 06:50 AM

Welcome to The Villages, Beau, and to your new home. Good on you for adopting from a rescue. Love the name. I used to have a Beau, too. Enjoy.

Nipper 04-15-2014 08:21 AM

Two thumbs up!!!

CFrance 04-15-2014 12:11 PM

Yay!!!! there's nothing like a new furry one to help you get over the last furry one. Not that Sport will ever be displaced in your heart, but it sure helps to keep busy with a new pet. Good luck with him!

Yes, my heart still has room for yet another dog. He seems to be quite a favorite at the dog park but I do have to watch just which laps he visits. He is a completely indiscriminate lap jumper even if the person has a dog which will get jealous. After he jumps on a lap he then thinks he is the size of a Rhodesian Ridgeback and protects that person.

We ran into a Borzoi last night on a walk and he was too tiny to even really reach the dog's butt. He just walked around the Borzoi's legs looking for some way of getting higher. The dogs' owners were trying to get the very accommodating Borzoi to lean down.

Tal! Hijacking this for a moment. Where did you see the zoi? We saw one with an elderly gentleman at the Brownwood market a couple of weeks ago, and I stupidly did not take their picture for Lovsthosebigdogs. I told LTBD that I would try to track them down, as LTBD is moving down here in June with three zois. What neighborhood were you in when you saw them?

Hers are two rescues and one from a breeder, and she would love to hook up with other zoi owners.

mrbgull 04-15-2014 05:54 PM

Many happy days

I'd like to meet your new addition.
I'm glad to hear that he is fitting in so well.
What time do you usually go to DDRR?

gerryann 04-15-2014 09:08 PM

Congratulations! Looking forward to pictures!

BarryRX 04-16-2014 05:32 AM

Taltarzac, I read the post before I noticed that you were the poster. I know you've just recently lost your dog and I know how horrible that can be. I hope your new best friend not only brings you all the joy that a dog brings, but helps you find peace and acceptance.
Barry

Usually in the morning sometime between 8:00 and 10:00 AM. Depends on the weather and the other dogs.

He was in Lynnhaven walking around Churchill Downs near the Lynnhaven Postal Center. He is mostly white with a little tan. He was with a senior couple.

Oh, early morning at the dog park.
I hate early mornings. :mornincoffee:

Many people have asked to see a picture.
We'd all like to share in your enjoyment.
If you have difficulty posting pictures (like me),
I send them to another member and ask her to post for me.

We have a Samsung S730 Digital Camera but it is missing its software. If you go to Max's Pet Connection you can see two pictures of Beau. We will have to figure out some way of getting these pictures off the digital camera. http://maxspetconnection.com/our_furry_friends.html

I did go to Max's Pet Connection to see the picture of Beau.
And he is very cute.
There are so many dogs looking for homes, it's hard to hear their
stories and see their hopeful little faces.
Thanks for doing your part to make one dog's dreams come true.

lovsthosebigdogs 04-16-2014 06:55 PM

So happy for you- congrats! Let the love begin.
And Tal, I'm jealous you got to see the mystery zoi and I didn't!

Sadness.....and joy. The pain of losing....and the joy of the new member of your family. There is a tail wagging in dog heaven knowing that you loved Sport so much that you wanted another tail wagging in your home. There will never be a "replacement". Each wagging tail is different and brings different joys.

Congrats on your new wagging tail. Many happy (& crazy) years ahead.

:doggie: Lexi and owner
