Friends
My husband and I would like to meet a couple of couples who enjoy smoking (not in the house) and also enjoy adult liquids (in moderation), as well as cards and board games. Any suggestions?
|
I can't believe 200+ people viewed my post and no one even made a suggestion.
|
Perhaps the smoklng option limited the replies. I doubt it was adult beverages, cards, and board games which are Villages staples.

As far as responses, I am sure that it is only a matter of time before you get a response. 200 out of over 100,000 people is insignificant. Just keep asking. Good luck. |

Or host a neighborhood BYO driveway party with smoking section. |

A lot of the lookers are from far away like I. I only wish I could join you. Jim |
Hi Lynn I am not in town either and that's why I didn't respond. I think the person who suggested you go to the outdoor restaurants/ bars and strike up a conversation is a good idea. That is how we met a few people and also some at the town squares. We ran across a lot of friendly people.
I also think part of the reason you didn't get much response could be because of the smoking. Most people do not want to be around it. |

Sadly, I'm single, so that leaves me out.

Well isn't this special - let's beat up the OP cause she enjoys smoking. Lordy, Lordy what has this site come to??? She wants to meet friends not be told what to do. Some people need to learn to just zip it.
Lynn - wishing you the best of luck settling into your new life in The Villages and finding a group of friends that works for you. If you have a dog that poops and pees you might want to share that so they can really tear into you. |

There used to be an office at La Hacienda where you could get an application to start a new club. It's easy and they advertize it to see how many would be interested. You would need a certain minimum number of people. You would be assigned a meeting room -no smoking- but you would be able to discuss with other smokers where you might go to smoke and play cards etc.. Then the room might come in handy to plan and discuss other future smoking events. |
hi lynn,
i hope you get some replies as i know you are a wonderful person, funny, resilient! i don't know if VillagesPL was kidding but i think that might be a good idea! am so glad you found someone except that now i never see you any more!! :) |
My husband and I used to smoke but we both quit about three years ago. However, we have friends who smoke and don't mind being around them as long as it is outside. Don't mind having a drink or two, either. So, I guess you got a couple of potential friends right here!

Host a driveway neighborhood party, by putting flyers at your postal station.
It would be a BYOB, and something to share, so your effort, would be minimal. Hopefully, there will be some people who have similar likes. |

If you have ever smoked you can appreciate how difficult it is to quit. |

Suggestions have been made as requested. |

The o.p. asked for suggestions twice, and did not say "tell me only what I want to hear." Hence, some responses did not meet everyone's PC standard...but the o.p. took it in stride by saying "I am who I am." I'm sure people respect her for that and more. Quote:

By smoking, is the OP referring to cigarettes?

And no, I'm not a smoker. It's her right to ask a question and not be slammed for it. |
