Huge Gator on the Lawn

Right now, there is a huge gator that looks to be about 8 feet long on the lawn of someones house at the corner of triggerfish and buttonwood. Community watch is on the scene and about 20 people are across the street watching it. Be careful out there when you are walking at night!

Tom Hannon 04-26-2014 07:52 PM

You are fast, Barry. The gator is still moving down the street, on his way to Red Fish

Tom Hannon 04-26-2014 07:52 PM

I took a few closeups. Hopefully I can brighten them up before posting

I agree, but unwarranted fears will have this gater put to death immediately.

I saw a vacuum package of gator meat in the LSL Winn Dixie last night. Near the fresh fish section in the back.

Easy fix. One bullet through the brain. Someone gets something to eat and someone gets a nice pair of boots or a handbag. It also removes the danger of getting bitten or having someone's pet killed.

What an idiot.

Buttonwood again in the news. Did it flee the sinkhole area you think?

Comment really not worth a reaction. It speaks for itself.

It causes me to pause when someone laments "well they were here first". what does that mean and what does that matter? Do you suppose the frontiers men and women worried about those sort of things.

Its one thing to be environmentally conscious its quite another to equate animals and plants with people

I think Native Americans might have a different view of history than we do.

LOL. Every time a European wanted more money and power, he just killed a few hundred to make room for a ranch. Same in Florida with the gaters.

Do you live in a house? If you do, and you want to live in harmony with all of God's creatures, you really should tear down that house and restore the land back to what it was before men came here. In fact, you should be working hard to have all of the houses, building, roads and bridges destroyed and have things returned to the way they were.

Millions of these obnoxious creatures were killed in the construction of everything we have. I wouldn't call that living in harmony with God's creatures.

If you don't believe that man is superior to all other animals and has the God given right to used them as he sees fit, then you have to be a bit hypocritical to live in a house or drive a car or play golf.

From the beginning of time, man used other animals for food, shelter and clothing. I was taught that this is part of nature and that God put those animals here for our use.

CFrance 04-27-2014 03:09 PM

And in the construction of all this "stuff" man has, and in his "right" to use animals as he sees fit, American alligators were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1950s and 1960s, and in 1967, officially were under protection of the Endangered Species Act.

So somebody thinks they're something other than obnoxious.

I think if you read Genesis 1 again you will see that while God gives us rule over the animals in verse 28, that is very different than permission to eat them. In the very next verse it sures sounds like he wants us to be vegetarians.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

So, if you use the Bible as your moral authority, you have to use it all I would think.

Every night about midnight my wife and I walk around the area where the gator was today. We do a one hour walk and just last week I bought a high powered flashlight for this very reason. Last night as we were walking I was telling my bride that she "needs to keep her light on and pay attention". She rolled her eyes.
Of course I was overjoyed to show this posting to her today. Her response "a broken clock is right twice a day".
Expect to see 2 bright flashlights from now on.
Thanks for informing us about the gator.

Thank goodness we have evolved over the years to respect animal life.
Of course there are situations when people are in danger and animals must be eliminated.
But in my humble opinion, we should respect animals and try to live in harmony with them.

Monkei 04-27-2014 07:15 PM

Rubicon, so, if illegals take that state of Florida away you will be ok with that? Regardless if you were here first? Are you really ok with exterminating everything below you in the food chain, or just those with big teeth?
