Restaurant Inspections
After reading about the McDonald's in Colony closing for a day or two because of a disgusting inspection of dead and live roaches, among other violations, it is Vital that we as customers and consumers of products are aware of places with abnormal inspections
As a franchise owner myself I know what it takes. It is reprehensible to allow a food establishment to get the violations that they post. Owners and management need to do their job or get out of the business of serving the public. Patrons need to heed these warnings from the state inspectors. |
heard same re: Cody's. if you saw the kitchen..would not eat there

1. In 8 years of living here the only two restaurants i know of that continue to meet state inspectors expectations are Giovanni's and Son Rise Cafe.
2. This prompt me to ask, Does the State require inspections results to be posted? If not then they should so that people won't have to wonder what a restaurant's kitchen is like, etc |

No, I agree that Cody's is probably not clean, although we do eat there (gulp) occasionally. The look they have created doesn't even give one a sense of cleanliness. How could it be with all the peanuts, although Five Guys has peanuts and that place IS clean. The chairs and booths need a good scrubbing and we have had to ask for clean silverware. Someone there really needs to take a look at the ketchup tops. I guess they never wipe them off until the bottle is empty and then it doesn't matter. What we see is not what the Board of Health inspectors look for. Walking through the kitchen or even watching them cook, tells you nothing unless you are the person doing an actual inspection. A friend of mine did these inspections and you would be amazed at what they look for, where they look and what they find. |

It is safe to assume that all restaurants are not inspected the same number of times. A lot of it has to do with how they did with prior inspections. |
:)!

I'm curious. I am really good friends with Mike and see him quite often. When he was there, we were there 5 - 6 nights a week. I would really like to know when he brought out plenty of free food & platters of free ribs out to the late night crowd. We used to stay there with the managers until midnight. I'm sure Mike would be curious also to know when he did this. |

I have to plug my ears when "The Screamer" plays there!

I was just looking at restaurant inspections by County Health in Illinois. It's about the same as in TV. It's all about management, however, it's the "bottom line" that gets you fired (in most cases) not the inspections-----unfortunately.
They can do better-----for sure. |

Wow, Bravo Pizza with 40 and Waterfront Inn with 25. Watch the supermarkets as I saw the woman in the fish department handle fresh fish and then cooked shrimp without changing her glove. Huge violation!

You also have to read inspections CAREFULLY. Many of the "violations" are often chickens**t write-ups for things like dented cans. It is in violation to have a dented can on the shelf, and inspectors love to write stuff like that up which is not endangering the customers at any level. And while it is illegal to have a dented can on a restaurant shelf it is NOT illegal for places like Publix, WalMart & WD to have dented cans ready for sale on THEIR shelves. In fact if you go to some grocery stores you would think that the management issues mallets to their shelf stockers.
And don't think for a minute that all inspections are "fair & honest". They can be political and sometimes depending on the particular inspector a shakedown of the owner for graft. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't pay attention..but it does mean that you need to really KNOW what the report says. |

Cody's
I don't know about their previous inspections, but I do know that we ate there yesterday for lunch and my wife has had symptoms of food poisioning ever since an hour and a half afterwards. I would suggest staying away from the pulled pork there for a while. I don't think we will be back.
|
Have never gone to the Cody's at LSL as it's always too crowded. When we want to go to Cody's we go to their Ocala location and have never had any problems with eating there.

Sometimes what we eat doesn't want to mix with what we ate earlier or it just hit us the wrong way or we just weren't feeling well. Doesn't always mean it's "food poisoning".. Did you contact Codys? Did anyone else complain of being sick that night ? I love the pulled pork and eat it a lot. |
Cody's
Ate there this evening. YIKES, one of us had pulled pork......guess we'll let y'all know in the morning if he survives.
We were there at 8. I'll say one thing...I've never been there that late, so maybe they were doing usual closing stuff, but they were sweeping everything, cleaning all the condiment bottles and tables. I think the negative comments from TOTV might have come to light because all of the staff seemed to be in a rather crummy mood...maybe just my imagination though. The food was good as usual. |

The following morning half of the party experience severe symptoms creating a need to sit and kneel. an investigation was undertaken and it the source discovered > Half of the attendees had the soup that evening and that was the culprit. Those attending were insurance people and we joked that not one person made a claim against the restaurant. My friends who stayed at my home nd my wife and me had the soup. You would be surprised at the number of people who are not even aware that the cause of their illness came from food/drink. In our situation there were so many of us who knew one another comparisons/conversation about illness was available and that is not always the case in these cases Personal Best Regards |

Just wanted to say that I had the pulled pork at Codys last night. It was delicious !!
|
I just went to the inspectors site and Cody's had the highest violations. Just saying
|
Bonny, you say that you have been in Cody's kitchen. I would certainly think that, you as a customer, being in the kitchen is a violation. Kitchens should not be open to "the public." In my opinion, if allowing customers into Cody's kitchen is allowed, I will mark it off my list!

Bonny, you always seem to know what's going on in The Villages.
I respect your comments and opinions. |

Don't get me wrong I have high regards and respect for heath inspections.
In our society the slightest infractions makes for great media drama. Read the whole report before passing judgement on any establishment |
