Villages Health Care Lab Results
I had blood drawn last Monday and my results are still not available online. Back in Arkansas, I would get results online (two tin cans and a string) on the same day as I had the blood drawn. Maybe the lab is overwhelmed..will find out Monday.

They tell you results online? You don't have to come in and pay for a visit? Do they use local labs? Back home in Ohio they would call with results, but here you have to schedule a visit. Hmmm We don't go to Village Healthcare, would love to but they don't take our previously always good AetnaPPI. |
They send them out...can't remember where. As for needing to have an app't to go over results...that's pretty standard especially if it's for diabetes, thyroid etc. Not sure why it would take so long for you to see results online. Let us know what "they" tell you!

i haven't had that experience. my results were available in 3 days which is better than most.... I have been VERY happy with the Villages Healthcare system... My doctor is very caring, professional and thorough...

As I recall they called immediately with lab results but I think perhaps they wait for the doctor to review before they post online.
|
Maybe the very fact that you were in a small, rural town is the reason--not as busy. My lab results come in lightning fast compared to at the University of Michigan and University of Pittsburgh medical centers.
|
Does FL allow labs to send results to patients or post them on internet?
|
My results were online in 24 hours.

Husband had blood drawn on Monday & results were posted the following morning.

Hubby and I had labs drawn at the same time as part of our initial workup with Villages Health. Did not have to schedule a followup appt. Hubby's s results were all normal and posted online within a few days. I had one abnormal and it took about 10 days for the results to become available online. I'm asuming the doctor had to review the abnormal before it could be posted. Finally, received a phone cal from the office about 2 wks. later to inform me of the abnormal. Nothing serious.

depends on doctor?
Sounds right as far as wait. Sometimes it is a matter of the doctor.
Some docs allow nurses and or labs to post normal results and some docs don't. You see, often what may look abnormal to a patient is still within normal limit. .e some of the results are related to immature red cells etc and depending on a persons condition it is of no consequence if values are abnormal sooo some docs like to review condition of pt before releasing the results. On the other hand some docs allow the release. This is how it works where I am. I have had many a call from patients who do not know how to interpret results that are within normal limits. Of course, I am up north but think this could be the case. Also if the labs are sent away, out of state or if insurance requires certain labs then the doctor is at their mercy. |
Not with the New system here but use private doctor in area and have blood results in 1-2 days.
|
Have had many issues with the Villages Labs, including delays in obtaining results, and ordered tests not being done. As a retired health care professional, I am advising others to think twice before using this Health Care system.
|
But, the fact that you had an abnormal result, makes that time frame totally unacceptable.

My doctor at Colony, now Pinellas used Alliance at first, but switched me to Labcor at my request because my insurance did not cover Alliance Lab. There is also a LABPAC indicated on some of the test, but I don't know if that is an outsource or not so I've sent a message to my Dr. asking about it! Personally, I like many feel that the Villages Health system is well worth belonging to, and find little problem with the time frame that my blood test were processed. That however could be because I have routine test every 6 months and feel no rush or reason to expect results available to me personally within 12-48 hours. At the same time I would want and expect faster results of tests run only if they're ordered as the results of new symptoms being diagnosed. As for "thinking twice" before joining the Villages Health Centers, yes one should think twice, but I would prefer to use a less alarming way of expressing that by saying 'use all due diligence in selecting any health care provider you may be considering.' |
Labcorp is who TVH had used for my lab-work. Only once did it take some time but otherwise my results are posted quickly. In December I had some work done and the MA called me the next morning with the results and told me what to do next. No app't was needed to see anyone. BUT if you have diabetes, thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis and other issues you might have to return for a follow-up visit in the future to go over your labs and other issues that are related.
We're VERY pleased with The Villages Health System...very similar to what we had before we moved here! |
I had mine onlline the next day and they also called me with results. No complaints here
|
You could always go back to Arkansas for your test then back to the Villages

Quest Diagnostics has several locations in TV. A Google search will show others. |
Got my lab work posted next day on my Patient Portal. Absolutely no complaint here.

Florida law.... All your Dr needs to do is mark on your blood prescription or X rays that you want to pick up the results yourself and THEY HAVE TO provide them to you directly. Again Florida law.
I see the Dr and he sends me over to the lab. Two days later I walk in and they hand me my results. They of course also send them to your Dr. A great benefit to the Florida system. Make sure your Dr marks it on your prescription. If he won't then get a new Dr. Back in NY that was unheard of. Often I would ask the Dr about my results and he would say "fine" or "we have to make some changes". Now I know and understand everything. NG |
