Woman, 68, And Male Partner Busted For Public Sex At Florida Retirement Community | The Smoking Gun

Look at the last line in the Smoking Gun report......I can hear the relatives from up north calling now!!

billethkid 06-09-2014 08:54 AM

"Smoking GUN"?????
Pretty low caliber stuff!!

Rags123 06-09-2014 09:06 AM

AND New York Daily News.....

Woman, 68, and younger lover, 49, arrested after being caught having sex in Florida retirement community

TNLAKEPANDA 06-09-2014 09:07 AM

Sean Hannity will have fun with this for sure!

Patty55 06-09-2014 09:51 AM

Oh please, this is news? What? Did they run out of Kardashians?

skip0358 06-09-2014 09:54 AM

Really who cares? They didn't kill anybody, nobody got hurt, no harm was done. They were just exercising doing push ups. After all this is 'The Friendliest Home Town"

This news quality of this story rises to the level of "dog pees on lawn ":icon_bored:

Yeah. Like this or STD's never happen in our former cities/towns, nor amongst any of their relatives or neighbors. But police and urgent-care clinic or ER staff would tell them what reality is.

Now, that's funny.

I do hope this couple are taking this hoopla well. Not much more can be done in a society with a free press and social media than just roll with it.

Cisco Kid 06-09-2014 12:48 PM

Maybe they will get a reality TV deal.

"Yellow Journalism" . . .

That's all the Drudge Report and The Smoking Gun seem to be capable of reporting.

It is in a number of papers throughout the country !!!!

It is a story about the largest retirement community in the country, thus it will be news nationwide. I wouldn't critique the newspapers or news sources on this one.

Already received "anonymous" email link to the drudge report from someone up north. .....Yep, this will be around for awhile just like STD hoopla.

Who was probably hurt was both of their spouses. Her picture is haunting me. I hope she won't harm herself. I hope she gets some help.

Now all of us living here have become the butt of jokes.

Well, I agree with this. I've heard it all from relatives and friends......those that have never been here...first off, they think this is a small retirement community with homes, trailers and mobile homes. They think that half of us sit around playing bingo and shuffleboard, the other half are all swingers with STD's.

Grace, I feel the same way. At first it was funny, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought of her as a person in need of help and also became concerned for her welfare.

When I saw it made the National news I actually felt some anger. The story being nationalized was not only an unnecessary hit on her, but also seemed to ridicule our community and people in our age group.

If he was 68 and she was 49, it would have been a non-story....at least nationally.

I am afraid its international. http://www.malaysia-chronicle.com/in...#axzz34Aw61Vwc

It shows up in UK and Australian media as well and probably will appear in others soon. It is the kind of idiotic story that quickly goes world wide with little or no thought about the community involved nor the subjects and family of people in it. I do not see what can be done though. It sells ads. Look how many hits it has got on TOTV in its various threads?

It is international. Try googling her name. It's in the UK, Australia, even Nigeria.

I was not aware of the Nigerian one. I could make a sick joke but....

LndLocked 06-09-2014 03:41 PM

Guess what????

Every time you click onto any link that references this encounter (including TOTV threads) it increases the "hits", drives it further up the counter with all of the search engines and increases it's profile on the interwebs as a whole.

Welcome to the interconnected world.

manaboutown 06-09-2014 03:44 PM

Looks like she already has more than her 15 minutes of fame. This could last a while. Several people I know who know I am contemplating buying in The Villages have sent me links to news stories about this. In the past they have teased me about the STD story.

Who knows, it may sell more homes for the developer.

I don't think she looks humiliated. Just drunk.

This is what people around our past home taunt with, too. Their summary of us as being interested in that kind of immersion just shows how little they know, or how jealous they are of people having the courage to move out of their boring existence, knowing there's a whole world out there to experience and enjoy....or to move on from.

Oh well, look on the bright side. This publicity, while unwanted, is also likely to help TV real estate values keep rising (no pun intended)

As the irish author, Brendan Behan quipped: "There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary."

That it has been splashed all over the interconnected world bothers me not one single bit.

The intent of my post was to point out to those that it does, the reality of how the net works.

tucson 06-09-2014 09:13 PM

I want to know why his name and picture wasn't also in the news all around the world.... Her whole life as she knows it now is ruined, very, very, sad....

Halibut 06-09-2014 09:39 PM

Isn't Florida already the butt of jokes? The entire South, really. Throw in California, New York city, Detroit, Texas, Portland, North Dakota, and the Midwest while you're at it.

For myself, I could not care less what strangers are saying or thinking about where I live.

With regard to the two participants, I don't know their lives but feel sympathy for anyone who ends up with a public mug shot because of something so stupid (on their parts) and trivial. It should have been handled much more kindly on the part of the police.

I would not say that. She could alter her name a bit. I did this for various prisoners at MCF-Stillwater when I was a Student Attorney at Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners. I also do not think many people who use the net have very long memories. It is a shame that just for being passionate with someone in the wrong place at the wrong time would have such a consequence. There are much worse things for which people go completely unpunished. And, unlike the prisoners at MCF-Stillwater, the FL Department of Probation or whatever agency is not obligated to notify the victims of any name change as the only real victims in this whole charade are the two people who tried to make love (or whatever it actually was) on stage at Lake Sumter Square.

I share your compassion Gracie! It may be illegal but I don't find the story worthy of all this attention. Seems equivalent to gossip to me! Live and let live!

I disagree.
Just like all the notoriety TV has received whereas STDs are concerned,
this incident will live on ad infinitum --
probably long after we are all dust.
No matter what, it, supposedly, will always be a good story to repeat.

The bottom line is that this entire episode is very sad.
As stupid as the incident was, I feel for that woman.
She needs help -- probably in more ways than one.
.

The net has an incredibly long storage space. Many people using it, not so much. I wonder how many people you asked visiting the Villages would know who the man was who shot up a Villages postal center a number of years back? I believe this was a man upset about who his mother was dating.

I am very surprised about how many media outlets covered this "story" about Lake Sumter Landing's Square and its romantic duo. Too bad stories like Trenton Duckett's abduction or whatever actually happened to him did not get this wide a distribution as quickly as this one has. http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/...ho-disa/nZdqR/
