The Truth About Glenview CC
I've got the scoop on Glenview CC. My friend is a server there.
Melissa, Amanda, Penny are still there . Brett made a great career move. When 110th Street Grill closed - Randy brought it up for discussion and everyone agreed that it was the right thing to do by moving the 110 servers over to GV. They're all friends and it made it possible for others to take vacations. Randy & Karen are great people to work for and they have a staff of longtime employees...some 5-10/yrs. I eat there all the time and I like that they change the menu and provide healthy food that is inexpensive. For value and cost it is by far one of the best places to eat in town. For sure they have the best Sunday brunch |
We have been to GV twice since the take over, and both were less than good experiences. Last week, I ordered a med rare ribeye that came out more than well done. My wife had the fish on the daily specials menu and complained that it was chewy. We asked for a manager and when he arrived, I swear he was barely out of high school. He came back and instead of fixing the situation, he proceeded to inform us that the chef said it was just fine. REALLY! We did not pay for the dish and will not be back for a while until they come to understand the term....Customer Service.

We were regulars and have been since we moved here a few years ago. We knew Melissa and Amanda and Brett and Penny, and I absolutely hate what the owner did. The place was always packed before the changes, now you can get in anytime. Don't mess with success!
|
I really, really, like the people who serve there. They are amazing people, very tuned in to making your time there enjoyable..., but I was witness to a very poor judgment call on the part of the management recently.
You can't bite the hand that feeds you. I hope that things level out and someone learns something because I really like to go there. I like the food and the prices are more than fair and it "feels" and looks like the Country Club restaurants in Ohio. Traditional and charming. |

Like you, we love the decor - very much like private clubs in Boston, up market and elegant, and we also very much enjoyed having lunch on the Porch watching the golfers. :rant-rave: |
Hey Madeline
If you read my post you would see that Melissa is still working there. The reason it is slow is because it is June, which is off season and one of the slowest months of the year everywhere in Florida. If you love Melissa so much maybe you should stop chasing customers away by bad mouthing her job.
|
Um, who said it was slow? Sounds like the complaints were about the quality of food and poor management decisions. (I don't have a bone in this fight -- have never eaten there, just had drinks in the bar.)
|
Ate there last evening...Service was fine... The prime rib was tasteless...The place was packed, people standing outside waiting to get seated.

I have been associated with the hotel/restaurant world for many years and one thing I do know, you don't mess with success! |
OP joined TOTV just to tout this restaurant? Seems like an attempt at covert marketing by management to me.

well put! Why is it people need to say something even though they have no idea what they are talking about. I go to Glenview a lot and I think the wait staff and bartenders are GREAT
|
Love Glenview and all the staff. Melissa in particular is an amazing person. She is a fav of ours.
|
Ate there again yesterday; it's close to home for us so we are there often. We continue to appreciate the staff, however, the food is going downhill. There were visible pieces of unchewable gristle in my husband's burger. Have to agree with an earlier poster - when you politely point out the deficiencies in the food (again, not the service), management does nothing to explain/fix/say they will improve. Husband says from now on he will go there only to drink, not to eat, and I am inclined to agree.
|
We haven't been to Glenview is a while but I think I will put it on my list for one of the next few weeks so I can see how it really is.

We've eaten at Glenview many times and praise the food and servers.
|
We love their Sunday brunch and that's all I have knowledge about, but the food seems to be the same quality as ever. Service is fine although the staff seems to rotate a lot so servers are rarely the same.
|
we ate brunch there today, would have been better off going to golden corral! looked like most of staff was having great time on there cell phones,, am still waiting for waitress to bring me another drink! we will not be back, classic case of breaking something that was rolling along fine.

Unfortunately, I'm chiming in here as well. The food was well below par on our last two visits, it is insanely noisy, and they never answer the phone.! I was at the pool and wanted to order food. Had to leave the pool, drive over to order and drive back to pick it up as they will not deliver any longer.
Not enthusiastic about going back. Harrumph. |
Another update; we keep saving never again after eating there, then returning because it's so convenient. Another bad experience Friday night. New wait staff, didn't know menu and clearly needed training. For 6 people she brought our drinks one at a time, separated at long intervals, with one of the orders wrong. Decided to just get chili, assuming the kitchen couldn't mess it up too badly. Ice cold! Returned it, and it was lukewarm at best. Should have just gone home for dinner!
|
Ate at Glenview for the first time Friday night with a group of eight. Had great service and all eight of us were happy with our meal. Would definitely go back.

The servers are WONDERFUL and I love the atmosphere. The food is almost always great. But that one management person who was rude to my friend who I thought had a very legitimate issue. It could have been handled SO much better. It was the only time I had ever seen that kind of thing happen in The Villages, ever. |
gee thats the same experience we had at hemmingway...the managers just don't care....the table next to us...said they won't be back....he said GOOD !!! wow.....they need to get their managers some experience!!! very grumpy and they just don't care...little do they know...because if it wasn't for us, customers,,,....they would NOT have a JOB !!!
|
We love Glenview.
It's such a comfortable place with an elegant feel to me. |
We had a great dinner their on Friday night. The lobster tails were terrific, my companion' steak was superb. The appetizer was incredible - try the sausage stuffed mushrooms. You will love them. Our server was Anna, and she was wonderful, very attentive and prompt. It was a lovely evening.
|
I had dinner there last Wednesday and it was excellent. It has a lovely "country club atmosphere". The service was great....and the food was scrumptious. We sat inside overlooking the golf course. It couldn't have been nicer. Great food, great people and a wonderful atmosphere. Who could ask for anything else? Life is good!
