Dental question.

I ask this because we are in the process of moving to TV. Had a dentist appointment today and I need a crown, crack in a old filling, the crown is $900.00 here and I was wondering what a crown is in TV. The reason I ask is that if I have the crown done here we will only be here about ten days after it is done so if there is a problem it would be my problem. I am thinking of waiting until we move to have it done then than I would have the advantage of the local Dentist.

I am pretty sure it was a crown I had placed here that was about 1200.00 (included the crown and building the base?)which I thought was very expensive, More than we would have paid where we were from. I think my dentist is priced middle of the road. We talked to a dentist when we first got here, and even though we are both avid brushers, flossers, and always did the 2 trips to the dentist a year. It was going to cost 10K to "fix" both my husband's teeth and mine. Needless to say, we did not return, and the next dentist didn't find any of the same problems.

We just arrived 2 weeks ago and my husband developed a toothache that was a problem from before we moved. He went to a dentist here in TV and was told he needed a crown and it would cost $1300. Hope this info helps you.

Just went to dentist in Bushnell (about half hour from villages) and had the best exam I ever had from a dentist. I need a crown and cost is about $600. Very happy with dentist and facility. Will see how things go.

Can you give the name of the dentist in Bushnell?

kaydee 07-07-2014 09:37 PM

if it were me I'd stay where you are especially if you have confidence in your current dentist. I do believe my crown was $1200.00 & then 2 yrs later tooth ached...root canal and re-crowned for $1600.00

I just had my third crown 'installed' by Serenity Dental Spa. About $1100 for the last one. They have a slick way to create a crown in one 2-hour visit. Oversimplified, they take a 3D digital image of your bad tooth, carve away the bad part, take a second 3D image of the stump and then they machine a ceramic crown that looks like the difference between the two 3D images. Very slick process. 352-350-1933

I don't think anyone has mentioned the fact that not all crowns are made of the same materials. I believe some are made of base metal with a porcelain covering and some are noble metals (silver, gold, etc.) with no porcelain cover (for back teeth).

Crowns made of noble metals cost more.

TomOB 07-08-2014 01:59 PM

I had a crown today and with core buildup etc. it was $1100.

Can you give me the name of the dentist in Bushnell please?

$1100-1200 seems to be the going rate. Don't look for bargains when it comes to your teeth. A cheap crown could be made in Mexico or China. Some dentist send their lab work to these countries. Buyer beware!

crowns

KUDOs to you Sage. Yes, all crowns are not created equally. There are crowns made of base metal, precious metal, semi precious metal, noble metal, high noble metal....the cost so varies. Value who you are, what you can and want to afford...remember that you need these teeth for a very long time. The individual who is asking this question about 'who the dentist is' for the least expensive crown should really be asking the dentist....'WHAT KIND OF CROWN WOULD YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH?"

Yes, I worked in a dental practice.

That's very true, but I have heard very good things about Bushnell Dental practice from a couple of different sources, and sometimes it does make a difference if you go "off campus" for some services.

Dentist

I agree with you about the off campus. I, too, go outside TV.

almost anything is less costly out of the villages

Lauren Sweeny 07-09-2014 08:27 PM

I used Smile Expressions in Mt Dora they take CareCredit . Google this. It allows you to pay over time at MD and dentist and other health offices that accept it.

When you present it as 'they take Care Credit..' It sounds as though it is an insurance plan, which it is not. Care Credit is a method of paying where a bank funds your $$ if you have decent credit and you simply pay over a given period. It is not without interest, which depends on the length of time to pay off the debt, just like every else. Some Medical, dental and vetenary offices offer this "third party system" and by offerring it to their patients/clients, it takes financing the service out of the office.

I found an excellent DDS in Lessburg...he does excellent work His name is Dr. Eddie Orobig. He's a great dentist who specializes in crowns, implants, bone graffs etc. Number is 352-787-5919. Why don't you call his office and speak to Marylu. I'm sure she can price crowns for you. Tell her Alexandra recommended you. Good Luck.

Which one of their dentists did you use?

Another recommendation for Dr Orobitg. Good work and they do not try and sell you unnecessary work. Competent and very friendly staff.

We both see Dr. McAnly and he is wonderful. He did a crown for me last year and will be doing another this year. I also use Care Credit to finance what my Ins. does not cover. I usually get interest free financing with them and the time to pay off the balance varies. I totally agree with others that at times it does payoff going outside The Villages. Besides it's a very nice drive to Bushnell straight down 301.

kissmelatr 07-17-2014 08:59 AM

I agree. I love the dentist Dr. McAnnly at Bushnell. It is worth the trip. Dentist here are outrageously expensive...

kissmelatr 07-17-2014 09:03 AM

Ad me to the last rdheleo. I wouln't think of going to anyone else. I had 2 front teeth pulled and 2 bridges then put in. Was lots of work in the front And I am so satisfied. Besides lol he couldn't be nicer putting up with this big chicken. lol And the price was very fair compared to other dentists.....Its not really that far a nice drive......

kissmelatr 07-17-2014 09:06 AM

If you pay Care Credit in the specified time there is no interest charges.....

peggintom 07-19-2014 09:36 AM

Anyone have a recommendation for dentist for mini implants?

Jullie 09-20-2014 10:12 AM

Scheduled for a root canal/crown for #30 tooth ( back bottom) Greenberg Dental in Leesburg. $1145.00 for both. First time using the facility.

You obviously went to Village Dental. They are a csmetic practice, do beautiful work but are VERY expensive. My wife recently had a crown done with our dentist and it cost $900. Don't know how long ago you had one up north but prices have gone up. The crown cost the dentist about $100 from the lab.

MSGirl 09-26-2014 12:14 PM

The dentist in Bushnell- was the price after insurance or total cost?

fluffball 09-26-2014 05:00 PM

I do not know which dentist you went to, but the one I just went to for a cleaning (which I didn't get), just x-rays, gave me a quote for what needed to be done....$12,600.00! I have been to 4 different dentists in TV. I am trying to find one NOT in TV who does not think everyone here is wealthy. I truly do not think I need all that done. Good Luck!

fluffball 09-26-2014 05:07 PM

If I were to take my x-rays to Dr. McAnnly would he have a consultation fee?

Bobcuse 09-27-2014 09:00 AM

I go to Buena Vista Dental in The Villages. Three years ago I had a crown done, porcelain fused to high noble metal for $875. Never a problem with it nor other cavities filled by Dr McKnight. She is awesome.
