embarassed stupid question
Yesterday Deans treated our lawn for weeds and also for Sod Web Worms (Army worms) which have been a problem.
About 15 minutes after they finished, we had a pretty heavy, albeit short, shower. Is the rain after this treatment going to neutralize the treatment ? I asked the tech and he said no....but just seems as if it has to ! Anyone have information to share It was liquid by the way |
good question
It should not completely neutralize chemical but it will dilute effect.

What does the pest look like?

That has been established....just was concerned about the treatments effectiviness after a rain ! |
As was said, it will probably be diluted but enough should go into the ground to have some effect. It frequently takes more than one application to get rid of Army worms. (If you see white moths in your grass, you have the worms.)
Ugly critters ain't they? |

Just was in doubt of the technician who said rain would not deter from the spraying. Hate to doubt a professional but as he completed the spraying the clouds over head were very ominious. But he said no problem |
I'm surprised once again that people ask questions on this site looking for answers to questions from people who are not experts in any given area.
Does anyone think that responses are merely one person's uneducated opinion? Come on folks... think !!!! |

I must point out that I never expected an expert opinion and asked not for one, but rather asked the question of folks who live here and have experienced a lot of the same. I am thinking and basically will not type what I am thinking but please accept my apologies for being so...whatever ! |

Monday morning call deans office, the staff is very nice. Ask your question. And I would ask how many treatments does it usually take to stop your infestation. They will be able to answer your question and will not make you feel stupid..
|
Last time my lawn was treated - routine maint - I was asked to water a little that night if we did not get any rain in the afternoon so the chemicals would go into the ground.
|
I asked the exact question of our lawn people for the same problem. They told me the spray was a contact spray so when it came in contact with the pests, they would be affected. The rain was not supposed to make a major difference in effectiveness. And, ask all the questions you want - most of us are reasonable and polite!

The experts are UF trained. If interested, google UF ifas extension. Experts are always there, lucky us.

Please address the topic and not each other.
To the OP, yours was a legitimate, serious question seeking opinions and experiences of other site members. No need to apologize. We regret that you received and saw some off topic replies that were less than friendly and helpful. Back to the topic.... Moderator |
Indydealmaker, I wish there was a "like" button. As a newbie, I appreciate your post.

It seems that every time our lawn is treated, it rains. One time he continued to spray right through the storm. He said it wouldn't affect it and our lawn looks great so I guess he's right. But I still wonder, like you.

The only stupid question is one not asked.

It never is wrong to ask questions. Yes some may seem simplistic to some people. The same people may ask a question to seems simplistic to others. One can never stop learning though.
However, the good thing about Deans I have found, and some of the reputable companies is if it did not work, they will keep treating it until it is corrected. The bad thing is the repeated calls and trips to get it fixed. :) The last time I had a problem in the grass, Deans put in a follow up visit in their system to check it and keep treating it. Since it is outside, you are not inconvenienced by their visits. It's the inside ones with the 2-4 hour windows that are annoying. |
Asking questions is why we have a mouth right there in the front of our face.
It was NOT a stupid question and there are a LOT of helpful people with insight who read this forum. AND some other kind too. |

Rags, try not to be hurt. I have been badly hurt on this forum. It is the problem with anonymity. People can say anything without being stopped. There are those who post who are the direct opposite of all we hold dear. Those who will say purple if you say pink and black if you say white. I was trying to keep the peace yesterday when I was typing my little lecture on intolerance. You have a right to your views and many of us agree with them. Nice people like you should just be glad you don't have to LIVE with people who are cold and cruel and argumentative all of the time it seems. |
