Has anyone switched to Direct TV ?
Just wondering if anyone has switched from cable to Direct TV? Are you satisfied with the service? If you switched ,who do you use for internet and phone? Have you had any problem with reception?
|
We have Direct because we don't like Dish and we're used to Direct in our other home. In Florida Direct partners with centurylink for internet and phone. I believe phone is free for 12 mos if you do the internet with centuryling. There's also a discount for the partnering. We're satisfied with it totally.
We did have Xfinity in the home we rented and that was fine also and that included wifi. Hope this helps. |
Been with DirecTV for 10+ yrs, won't consider anyone else. Actually, my husband won't consider anyone else, due to the great sports coverage.
We have a great picture, and excellent service. We don't have home phone service. As mentioned by an earlier poster, they partner with Centurylink and have great internet service. Very happy with direcTV!! |
Had it from the get-go. No problems of any kind. The choices down here are putrid to begin with so it's a matter of picking the best of the worst.
|
I also have Direct-TV and century link. No problems at all with reception.

Prior to moving to TV we had DirecTV but decided to go with Comcast here due to the local channels. After 2 1/2 months dealing with defective equipment and broken promises I fired Comcast last week and went back to DirecTV. We do not have a landline phone and use Verizon for mobile and internet. May look into Century Link at some point but for now do not see any reason to change over just for internet.

We switched to Direct almost 2 years ago and may switch again. it does go out whenit is stormy or even very cloudy; usually for a short period, 2/3 hours but you can watch taped shows then. we still have a land line and internet from century link.
look in the AAA magazine. there is I think a $200 discount |
I switched to DirecTV and love it.
|
We had issues with Prism TV so switched to Directv 3 years ago. We are very satisfied. Takes a pretty big storm to lose picture and doesn't last long. We are happy with Centurylink Internet! No phone!
|
We have had DirecTV for over a decade. Down here we have never had it go out for more than a few minutes, and always that was during a horrendous thunderstorm. Cloudy days don't affect our reception at all.
We wouldn't switch anyway, because of NFL Ticket and Extra Innings. But we're very satisfied with DirecTV. We use Magic Jack for phone line and Comcast for internet. DSL is too slow for our liking. |
DirecTV is the best choice. Does go out for short times during storms but if when setting up you put the regular definition channels and the hi definition channels on the guide, the regular rarely go out even during storms.

Directv has a great product and excellent sports coverage.

I have DirecTV and when it was installed the installer told me that when the signal goes out due to the weather, it is only the HD telecasts. The channels that broadcast in HD also have SD. I have switched to the SD version of the channels when the signal goes out and have always been able to watch SD.

For internet we use Centurylink DSL ,works well with Directv.Cost $35 per month and $15 per month when on the vacation plan. We do not have a land line in TV.Verizon cell phones work great. |
We've been with Directv for six years and have never had a service call. They are also the only ones that have NFL Sunday Ticket, every NFL game is available to see on Sunday instead of 1 or 2 local teams.

We signed up for DIRECTV at Costco and got a rebate. The service since January and DIRECTV has bent over backwards in providing customer satisfaction. We need a remote that headlight buttons and they sent one additional remote at no charge. We decided that we want to pick up the MH a Z channel which requires a separate dish on the international satellite and after a little bit of discussion DIRECTV decided to install it for free. The remote programming of the Genie is great. We can be somewhere and I want to record a program for later and I log on through the iPhone and hit the record button in the DIRECTV app and presto it's there when you get home.

... That had lighted buttons...

Pick up the MHz channel...

We have a weather radio that will keep us updated, and it can run on batteries. Chances are cable would go out too, especially if you lose electricity.

We've had Direct TV for 10 years in both Georgia and Florida. Very Satisfied.

Two nights ago in that tremendous lightning storm in the Tamarind Grove area, we lost DirecTV for all of about 12 minutes. I'll certainly put up with that rather than deal with Comcast.

Just stating my opinion of one of the reasons why we like DirecTV and don't feel that our connection is ever down for very long. A couple of weeks ago, people were complaining that Comcast cable was down for a considerable amount of time. We've had Comcast in three different cities. None of it has been any better than satellite. |
Get DirecTV!!
I had DirecTV "up north" for several years, but got talked into getting Comcast for everything when we came down here. What a mistake!
Without going into a lot of detail, we pay a little more to have DirecTV for television and Comcast for phone and internet. As far as I'm concerned, those two companies define the best and worst customer service and tech support in the industries which provide in home communications services. Comcast beats all the other internet providers with the speed of its broadband. I regularly get 25 Mbs throughout my home and could get 50 Mbs for another $5 per month. Comcast's standard speed is at least twice as fast as the service provided by the phone companies. If all you do is e-mail, no big deal. But if you use the internet a lot, the additional speed is very noticeable. |

I had Direct TV a few years ago and did not like it. Went back to Time Warner (in SC).
