The guy that got six months must of had to plea bargain for other reasons and if not i would of personally asked for life in prison instead of going back home to my wife for a crime on marriage.
Another words when that guy gets out of jail and go's back home he will be in a prison in his own home for making a dumb mistake and will never win another argument no matter how right he is. l.o.l

Also what is confusing is the woman is still in jail for the DUI violation, Alcoholism is a disease, and whats up with that and why is she still in jail?
So Sad, now i know why the state has no state tax, they have plenty of funding from the criminal.

After doing some research on how and why alcoholism is considered a disease I discovered this insightful article on the history of alcoholism. Apparently alcoholism is considered a disease for sociological reasons rather than results of scientific studies. Is Alcoholism a Disease?

Alcohol addiction treatment centers are big business. Treatment is very expensive and usually not successful long term. Furthermore, most addicts need to "bottom out" before any treatment can be effective. They have to want to go to treatment and remain clean and sober thereafter.

AA is probably the most successful answer long term but it does not work for many.

I am aware of of David's theory and also how many recovering alcoholics, Drs. and even A.A. disagree with him. Many people have become homeless, died, have "wet brain" or get locked up for trying to control it with just one drink. Sit in an open AA meeting and listen to the real people who deal with this. There is a difference between abusers and alcoholism. Yes some people can function with some control for short periods or even long ones but the drug still affects the organs of the body and does it's damage.
As usual one can find stuff to support ones theory and David does a good job. But whatever you want to call it, decease or no, it is very real to those who battle this on a daily basis and even to lose who lose the battle and die or suffer from Wet brain or cirrhosis, loss of job, family etc.. It is also one of the most dangerous drugs to withdraw from as the organs can shut down. The DT's are horrible to both witness and to go through. It takes incredible strength to go through life dealing with it. I don't suffer from this as alcohol effects me differently and I don't crave it. I'm very, very lucky and count this as one of my blessings.

Good post. Many forms of mental illness used to be not consided a disease either. And of couse, there used to be leaching/bloodletting... we have become older and wiser, and have conducted much more research and studies.

I haven't tried it, I have been told that the Catfish is good at The Seafood Restaurant on 44, right side, just before getting into Inverness.

I've only had catfish once, it tasted kind of like mud, maybe I should try it again. I guess it could have been cooked wrong.

They used to have the best bacon, egg & cheese sandwich but took it off the menu (was that your doing, VPL?) But I love their shrimp&grits. But then... I haven't met a shrimp&grits yet that I don't like.

Although alcoholism is a disease it is not an excuse for illegal or immoral behavior.

I don't know if this woman has been in treatment or recovery before but alcoholics are nor responsible for having the disease, they are indeed responsible for their recovery.

It is important to an alcoholics recovery that they are held responsible for their actions.

Do they put cheese in the grits? I don't like cheese in the grits.
