The Villages on The Tonight Show

Megan Boone, daughter of Jennifer Parr, was on The Tonight Show on 9/22/14. She talks about growing up in a retirement community.

Megan Boone Grew Up in a Retirement Village | The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon | NBC

manaboutown 09-23-2014 01:27 PM

That was enjoyable to watch. Thank you.

DeanFL 09-23-2014 01:30 PM

We NEVER watch the show since Leno left - personally, no appeal to my age group. I Miss Johnny....

But - Megan... c'mon. Bet your family will give you #$^@%& for the negative picture re "retirement communities". She COULD have left a better image of the place behind of her family's fortune. Shuffleboard...c'mon. That's so 80's.

Thanks for the link, but reinforcement of why NOT to watch this show - shallow interviewing and the forced chuckles.

I must be getting old.

No, less young

hmmm, so if one is alive = they are less dead?

Patty55 09-23-2014 02:05 PM

Whoa, she comes across as a vapid little fool.

maybe 09-23-2014 02:18 PM

I do not recall ever hearing of her, but it seems she did about typical for those kind of fluff interviews. It certainly was not a good ad for the Villages, but that was not her purpose, so I can't blame her for that. At least she didn't dwell on all the golf carts!

Taltarzac725 09-23-2014 02:27 PM

She is a gifted actress. I wonder how much time she spends now in the Villages? Probably very little.

I see her all the time getting her hair cut at Cal's (LSL) and playing shuffleboard.

billethkid 09-23-2014 02:41 PM

the interview was not about TV. It was all about Megan Boone.

The whole 90 seconds about TV was tongue in cheek. She is marketing Megan not TV

bkcunningham1 09-23-2014 02:47 PM

I've never watched her act in anything. I'll take your word for it that she's a good actor, Tal. She is Jennifer Parr's daughter. Why is her last name Boone? Is it a stage name?

Naw….she wouldn't want the $5 cut with unwashed hair wetted with a squirt bottle :yuck:.

She would be more considerate of the stylist who also needs to earn decent income.

Obviously, she didn't want to talk about growing up here, since "fools" would accuse her of landing a role/career like this only because she's daughter/granddaughter of the "rich" who fools claim "don't work" for what they've attained.

Vapid? I don't think so:

She came across as nervous as most young performers are in an unscripted performance. The Tonight show is a big deal.

My comment had nothing to do with her Villages comment. It was born of her giggling like a schoolgirl and sitting like she had ants in her pants.

slipcovers 09-23-2014 03:51 PM

I think she is a beautiful young lady, nicely dressed and a credit to her family. No heavy makeup or implants like most actresses. I like the line about living her life backward. Her sister is also a lovely young lady. Any other siblings?

Her acting is like a "vapid little fool." She has but one expression to her face. When I watch the show it is only to see James Spacer.

Gifted? Oh I think not.

So glad to hear you say that. I thought it was me. Had no idea she was part of the family but thought the whole interview (for whatever it was) was childish and dumb. Now that I know she's part of "the family", I won't change my mind, lol.

The Great Fumar 09-23-2014 07:47 PM

If it wasn't for JAMES SPACER it wouldn't be on .........

bxmt54 09-23-2014 07:48 PM

I like the show and I like her as an actress in it. I do agree she seemed nervous but Jimmy Fallon and the Tonight Show is a huge thing in the entertainment industry. Personally, I think it is nice she is trying to make a name for herself as an individual and not just depending on the laurels and money of her grandfather. She could just be sitting home drawing off of a trust fund. Somehow, I don't think that is the way the Morae children were raised.

bxmt54 09-23-2014 07:52 PM

James Spader probably wouldn't like being called James Spacer. Be careful...you don't want to get on his Blacklist!

Yes, a typo could get us on the Blacklist.

HUH? Her grandfather plays golf with sitting Presidents. I'm thinking she's been exposed to bigger deals than Jimmy Fallon.

:agree: It was uncomfortable to watch the interview.

well, The Villages did not come off looking much better in the Inside Edition clip tonight about singles here who are portrayed as drinking, carousing, of course the Sex on the Square incident with drink named after it. interview with author of Liesureville and good comments from the president of Sumter Singles. i guess it gives us a "mystique" :)

Bonanza 09-24-2014 12:29 AM

IMO, this entire thread isn't even worth mentioning. Most people didn't know who she was and still don't. I don't think there will be any academy awards or emmys in her future. Her appearance was pretty insignificant and the interview was even less so.

mixsonci 09-24-2014 02:13 AM

Maybe all this negative talk will keep people away and we won't have to share our little piece of heaven and deal with more and more crowding. From what I hear, it's getting too crowded now, so let them think what they want and stay away and leave us in peace. I know I'm not there yet...but will be soon and I do own a home there.

slipcovers 09-24-2014 07:35 AM

I don't understand why some people have to make nasty, unkind remarks about this lovely girl. No, she is not a "seasoned actress" because she is not supposed to be. That comes with experience and age, and are far as her appearance...it was impeccable, or perhaps she should come out looking like Cindy Lauper or maybe have a "wardrobe malfunction" . She certainly did no more "giggling" than Jimmy Fallon. Also, her chair was position so that it would have been uncomfortable to talk to Jimmy causing her to adjust herself...big deal.

True, most "old" people do not know her, but if you ask your children they most certainly know Megan Boone. Oh, but I forgot, you probably don't have children as I don't think a parent would make such mean spirited , unkind remarks, about this lovely girl.

You are right. She didn't present well on this interview or on the one with Kathy and Yoda either.

Our daughter has been involved in Civic theatre for years but can't get up and give a speech and is inherently shy.. I can speak in front of groups but would freeze if I had to remember a long script and stage directions.

I feel bad for Megan Boone because she will be limited because of this unless she can overcome it.. That is the reason some actors start taking drugs.

But I still am glad to see that she has tried to follow her dream and doesn't play any "I am rich" cards.

She is a girl from our town and I am proud of her and I have to believe her grandfather is too, and who knows? She may be a Democrat, most young people are.

Some posters will pick on her only because they don't agree with her grandfather's politics and don't like his financial success.

I would go along with just about anything the Morse's do. As most of you know. I sure hope I am right. I will be devastated and embarrassed if Gary Morse is a greedy, nasty, selfish. old person, as some of you think.

All that is what sold me on The Villages.:1rotfl:

graciegirl 09-24-2014 08:39 AM

Andrew Blechman is making money on these featured spots.. He must have sold a ton of books after all of this publicity.

The girls posse are waiting for him to set foot on this campus. We are practicing our jeers and have our squirt guns ready....this time filled with sprinkler water from south of 466.

It is sad that my original post isn't as important to you as all of your posts are to us. :1rotfl:
Apparently, this thought hasn't occurred to you, "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all."

I wasn't aware posts on ToTV had to meet a certain significance-level criterion. I thought posts could just relate to something that interested a person for the sake of conversation.

Well we know H. Gary Morse was born Harold G. Schwartz and Boone is an extension of Morse Blvd on the historical side. So who is the road named after, Jennifer's dad?

gerryann 09-24-2014 04:55 PM

Mean people......

tomwed 09-24-2014 05:20 PM

It was a boring interview and IMHO not her fault. Johnny Carson's gift was that he could bring out the best in people. He could make his guests seem funnier too. Being raised in a retirement community is very interesting.

smcgirl 09-24-2014 07:35 PM

She did a cute interview. The show is a great success!!thanks for sharing. I would love to see her! Thanks for the post.
