Section D in Daily Sun
Anyone else still having trouble adjusting to the new style of section D? I am still stuck on liking the format that disappeared about a week ago. The Out and About page is really overkill and confusing. Some of the columns have disappeared
Today I particularly didn't like the way Pickleball was written up, it almost was mocking the game, obviously written by someone who doesn't play the game. Some of the words were inappropriate and a bit demeaning I thought. Maybe I'm to picky. |

Dislike the colors. Dislike the layout. Front page is full of nonsense. If one wants to really see some news you have to hunt for it. For goodness sakes, treat us like adults and give us a real newspaper and use this as an insert!:cus: |
Section D
I, for one, hate it. I like to do all the puzzles, and flipping the pages back and forth and upside down to find answers drives me bonkers. What's more, the Hocus Focus puzzle has been made so small one almost needs a magnifying glass to find the differences.
|
I didn't like it the first day so e-mailed them. I think if everyone would call or e-mail them instead of saying nothing...they might change it back. I find it really hard to read!!
|
I do the puzzles every day and hated the new format. So, I sent comments to the paper, to which they responded. They tweaked it a bit, and I complained (politely) again. I was thrilled to see the puzzle page back in a user-friendly format. I sent a thank you email, and got a response saying they appreciated the input. So, if you don't like it, let them know - they were very responsive to my suggestions.

do not like it at all. I liked it when the puzzles were all on the same fold; then I could remove it and they were all together. most of the time they are now on different folds. also, they have made the jumble and the crossword in larger type; really! we are not that decrepit that we need it larger. and the crossword has fewer words.
really not an improvement. |
My mother in law really dislikes the new format and called the newspaper to let them know her feelings about the style change. Personally, I don't really care, but I do suggest if the new design isn't to your liking, call the paper and let them know, nicely, that the change bothers you.

I do like the new look. Easy to read...larger print & headlines are clearer! Change is good!

Honestly, I was surprised to see it on the front page and was expecting the article to be in the lifestyle section. |

I like the additional info about what's going on at the centers.

Don't like it at all especially the puzzle page. Thanks for suggesting a phone call to the office..will do so in the morning

The paper wasn't a real NEWSpaper before the changes and certainly wasn't improved any by the changes, but that's OK, it's not supposed to be. It is a house organ by and for The Villages and it does a great job at fulfilling that role. I like it!!

Exactly. Same here. :) |
I dislike, really, really dislike the entire format especially the puzzles. Seems a bit petty to complain about but will make my feelings known to the Daily Sun.
|
To me it looks like people asked for new items in the D section and the Daily Sun added them. To me as long as they did not change the comics, puzzles and TV guide I am okay with it. It is just a few more pages that I skip over to get to what I want to read.
I am glad that they redid the comics pages to put everything back together after they made the initial changes. I will admit that after 13 years of one format, it is taking me a while to get used to the new format. Z |
I am not going to render an opinion here because the last time I rendered an opinion concerning the Daily Sun the Admin guys deleted my posts.
So i am in agreement with what you all said |
I also found the puzzle page a bit confusing. I would like to see all the puzzles that appear during the week also in the Sunday edition.

Nit-picking aside... I LOVE the Villages Sun, one of the highlights of the day here. For a relative bargain (subscription), this paper provides just about everything I'd like to be apprised of daily. I'm not a read-every-line person, but glance thru and detail the stuff I care to dive into. The paper covers national news in the depth I need and the local/Villages info in an easy-to-read concise matter.
I do go online daily to review the USA Today and any other news I care to look into, and of course Talk of The Villages. The new format is a CHANGE, and understand the angst of some. For me, it's a refresh that's enjoyable. I guess that means I'm simple and easy to please - but my 'crab-side' would love the paper thrown right to my doorstep...so the neighbors don't judge me if we decide to sleep in a bit and the paper remains near the street till 9... guess I'm paranoid. |
I like the lifestyle section that lists activities for the day. Much easier that way.

You're on dangerous ground again. They might delete you for being too "blah", Rubicon. Live it up and go for it. Personally I enjoy reading your posts. |

Cool. You like the daily rec center and three day schedules too. :) |
It takes me awhile to get used to change
I hope I can learn to like it |

Well, I don't like the new format either. Just one more vote for the old style paper.
|
I am not a fan of the new format either.
|
I dunno, I think they changed the print, font size as when I go to read the Horoscopes, I have to really focus to read them. Comics seem all squished up together too. Rest of it doesn't bother me. I think the format could be tweaked a little bit, but that just my two cents and it's not worth too much . :)

We like the new format. Easier to read.

The Daily Sun is Back ............... thank you!
I posted here a week or so ago about the changes to the Daily Sun. Well, things have changed and the powers that be must have seen some of our comments. The front page is back to being a newspaper, not a gossip page, and the colors seem to be a little less harsh. I don't know about the puzzle page.
Someone at The Daily Sun reads this chat line! So thank you whoever you are! |

Please, Daily Sun, consider offering an online subscription like most other newspapers do. |

I like the new format of the paper. The TV section is so much better and I like the way they list the activities. Good job Sun !

Agree. |
how much real news is in the newspaper? this is an adult community we can read and able to digest the real news. bigger print, less articles and less news worthy articles, local or nation. Daily Sun editors take notice, not liking the change.

Daily Sun editors take notice, many of us are liking the change.
