Where do you buy your dog food?

I didn't want to lug a bunch of dog food down with us in the car, so will have to buy a bag before the end of the month. My dogs eat Wellness Core Small Breed, which I get at home at a local pet store. What is available in this area for high quality pet foods?

Thanks!

Bosoxfan 10-05-2014 08:11 AM

We get all our food at Whole Earth Pet Supply. Great local business.

logdog 10-05-2014 02:53 PM

We get our pet food from Amazon Subscribe & Save. High quality, natural pet foods are about half off what you would pay at local stores plus free shipping and very convenient. Amazon does carry Wellness Core.

CFrance 10-05-2014 03:26 PM

I use wags.com or chewy.com or the place on 101 across from Crispers--has the word "Paws" in its name. Also, I believe Petco on 441 carries Wellness.

Didiwinbob 10-05-2014 03:27 PM

We buy from "Paws For A Moment". Primal frozen Patties. Quality food competitive prices.

If you are staying in the Western area of The Villages ...

"Paws for a Moment" offers high quality pet foods.
We buy our Orijen dog food there.
If you take CR 466 and go north on CR 101, Paws is located in Palm Ridge Plaza.
Across the road from Southern Trace Plaza/Publix.
In the area of the Charter School, Bonefish Grill and a big CVS Store on the corner.
If you want better driving instructions, please PM me.

Doggiefood.com- good prices and service. The food we use is hard to get- Party Animal from California. It is grain free and organic.

rn1tv 10-05-2014 05:09 PM

We also buy from Paws for a Moment. Very knowledgeable staff!

plimit56 10-05-2014 05:24 PM

Just as an FYI we do have Petco and Petsmart and they do sell Wellnes for small dogs off 441. But as stated by others there are other places that sell better food.

Bonnevie 10-06-2014 10:18 AM

I feed my dog wellness, too. I can get it shipped from Amazon cheaper (as long as I qualify for the free shipping) and it's delivered to my door. In fact, I ordered it on Oct. 2 and it was delivered yesterday, a Sunday. Tax is now being charged I guess because Amazon has a place in Florida now.

OBXNana 10-06-2014 01:45 PM

We order from Petco.com and they deliver right to our door.

CFrance 10-06-2014 01:57 PM

I love the mail order places. Because we have a big dog, it is nice not to have to lug 30 lbs of dog food from the store to the car and lift it out of the trunk. I can kick it into the house from the front porch!

Wags.com and chewy.com carry many of the high-end foods made and sourced in America and Canada and similar first-world countries. We mix Wellness light with Nature's Logic to keep the weight under control. Both are high protein, no common allergy products. Petco carries Wellness and many other good ones if you don't want to mail order.

Recall Notices

Two good sites for all dog owners. Our Sheltie Peaches was victimized by Iams and Eukanuba a few years back..Didn't even know about it until the damage was done.

I am so sorry, KeepingItReal. We fed our first golden Iams thinking it was top stuff. I've done a lot of reading since then.

OpusX1 10-07-2014 11:23 AM

We buy Fromm pet food, a small batch, grain free, family owned company, at Paws for a Moment. I checked at several online pet food sites and can get a 30lb bag for about $7-$10 less but we would rather give the extra money to the small business because of the great service and advice we get.

Thanks for providing these websites. Sorry about Peaches' problems, I hope she is doing OK. We all do the best we can for our pets.
I just signed up for Dog Food Recall-Alerts. I checked out the dogfood we use (Orijen) on their website and was pleased to see it is rated five stars.

I've used wag.com on the recommendation of CFrance. She is right, it is very convenient to have the large bag delivered to our door.
But like Opus, we usually shop at Paws and pay a bit more. I like looking at all the doggie stuff for sale.
I buy glucosamine at Paws for my 14 year old dog, it's works like magic. Without glucosamine, he has lots of aches and pains. With glucosamine, he plays like a puppy.

SALYBOW 10-08-2014 09:27 AM

Dog food

I buy it at Sparr down on 44 near the Old Speckled Butterbean.

Champ361 10-14-2014 08:34 PM

Paws for a moment also carries Party Animal

Champ361 10-14-2014 08:39 PM

Paws for a moment carries a large selection of natural dog and cat food plus a variety of other supplies needed. Products are USA made. The staff is very knowledgable and take their time to help you with any issues your pet may have.

MoeVonB61 10-15-2014 08:56 PM

Another Vote for Whole Earth Pet Supply in the Publix shopping Center next to the Blood Bank/hospital!!!. The Owner is VERY knowledgeable about nutrition and the products. They ALSO help out the Sumter County Humane Society by taking donations of $, food, blankets, etc for the animals.

PennyAnn 10-16-2014 12:49 PM

petsupplies.com will bring food right to your door. Top quality foods, like FROMM, which we have used for years. Rosie eats Grain Free Salmon Tunalini.

Thanks for another online site. And "Tunalini" cracks me up!

whirschberg 11-17-2014 03:29 PM

food

We are snowbirds and Chewy has good prices and free shipping over $50. The food usually arrives in 2-3 days. We don't want to drive it down either.

Didiwinbob 11-17-2014 05:55 PM

Paws For A Moment- love the staff's knowledge on their choices of food!!

Sable99 11-17-2014 06:24 PM

I will have to check out Paws For A Moment for my kitties the next tme we are in TV. Torie often gets an upset tummy and maybe they can help! I buy their litter from chewy.com. I get 4 boxes at a time for free delivery! Love it!

jazzy48 11-18-2014 08:36 PM

Love Paws for a Moment. They've given me so many samples in order to finally find the perfect food that my yorkie absolutely loves. All of the staff is so helpful and friendly. BTW, yorkie loves to go with me in case they're giving out treat samples!

Joaniesmom 11-20-2014 04:11 AM

I buy ours at Paws for a Moment. On rt 101 where it intersects with 466. A big CVS store on the corner. Lovely people there. Quality food.

If you buy from Sparr, you can get a 10% discount if you show your SECO card. It's still cheaper on Amazon prime with free2-day shipping

Great point! In Sumter County, as SECO members, you can get 10% off almost everything at Sparr. Just mention it the register. They have not even asked for my card.
