please recommend Villages Cardiologist

Went to ER yesterday and was diagnosed with A-Fib. Please recommend a good Cardiologist in or near The Villages. thanks.

Citrus cardiology on Old Camp Rd in Lake Sumter. All great Drs. Especially Dr Saluck.

LuckySevens 10-23-2014 12:13 PM

Thank you gerryann.

I was just there the other day too and for the same reason. I was also looking for a new cardiologist. I was being treated by Dr Brian Saluck from Citrus Cardiology in Sumter Landing. I was very impressed with him both in his knowledge and bedside manner. When I came home I called his office to set up an appointment.

LuckySevens 10-23-2014 01:46 PM

Glad you found someone that worked well for you. Never heard of Dr. Saluck, but will put him on the 'like' list for when I go see my Internist tomorrow for a recommendation.
Someone a while back mentioned Dr. George Couturier a couple of times (I keep 'like' lists of Villages doctors, etc.) Can anyone on here recommend him?

Goober III 10-23-2014 01:58 PM

I can't speak highly enough of Hector Garcia, MD. He is a fine cardiologist. His office is across 441 from the Sharon Morse Building. He saved my life.

I go to Dr. Couturier and would highly recommend him or his colleague, Dr. Shams. I worked with several cardiologists at the hospital and after making the mistake of selecting Dr. Alvarez, colleague of Dr. Garcia, I switched and have been very pleased!

Dr. Rivero and Dr. Miryala of Citrus Cardiology in LSL are fine doctors.

I go to Dr. Miryala and a friend of mine goes to Dr. Rivero.

Dr Saluck - Citrus Cardiology.

I agree with dr Garcia. He takes his time explaining things to you and is very easy to understand.

I concur and recommend either of these gentlemen.

Thank you one and all for your suggestions. Sounds like I have several fine Cardiologists to choose from. I love it when you can get good information like this from TOTV people. I can't imagine just opening up the phone book and choosing a doctor without a recommendation. Thanks, Rose

Superlative doctor

wHEN i WORKED AT THE HOSPITAL THE PEOPLE IN ICU TOLD ME DR GEORGE COUTERIER WAS A SUPERLATIVE DOC. i GO TO HIM AND QUITE AGREE. I TOO HAVE A FIB. HE TREATED ME WITH MEDS THEN HAD ME GET AN ABLATION WITH DR OMAR SHAMS. ALSO EXCELLENT. I AM UNDER CONTROL. YEA!

NYGUY 10-23-2014 09:15 PM

My wife and I both see Dr. Patrick Williams at Florida Heart & Vascular. He is a former Air Force Flight Surgeon and a good communicator.

wendyquat 10-23-2014 10:47 PM

There are cardiologists and there are those who specialize in rhythm (electrophysiologist). I suffered with afib for several years while being treated by two different cardiologists with medications. Neither ever mentioned the possibility of an ablation! I finally found Dr Coutourier and he had just brought in Dr Omar Shams who did an ablation and I have been symptom free for 16 months. I have also heard rave reviews of Dr. Garcia! Good luck!

I don't much like doctors so this is saying a lot, but Dr. Shams is fan-freaking-tastic, both as a human being and a physician. He's a great diagnostician and truly cares about his patients. Couturier is up there as well.

It seems that, as difficult as it is to find a good neurologist around here, it's relatively easy to stumble on an excellent cardiologist.

Munroe Hospital

Does anyone know of a great Munroe Based Cardiologist ?

Thanks

kittygilchrist 12-25-2014 10:38 PM

I recommend you go to shands in gainesville for a thorough workup if you want the best.

SoccerCoach 12-26-2014 08:39 AM

My vote goes to Dr. George Couturier, Heart of the Villages. The location is above Citizens First Bank, Spanish Springs. Full service cardiology care.

Pa & Giggi 12-26-2014 09:04 AM

Dr Gummadi is a Munroe based cardio doc. I ended up with him when my PCP sent me to doctor Garcia for a routine echo and Dr. Garcia misread the echo. Due to that I was sent to Dr. Gummadi (who I thought was fantastic and I am accustomed to Boston docs) and was put on medication and went for a heart catherization at Munroe to see if I needed a stent or a defibrillator. All of that was for nothing as my heart was perfect in the sense that the echo reading was totally wrong. That was due to Dr. Garcia that I went through all of that. His office wouldn't even let my husband talk to him. They said he had to make a medical appointment to be seen in order to talk to the doctor. That made no sense! You get to see what kind of doctor he is when something goes wrong and they refuse to even talk to you.

I agree, i went to Dr Couturier on my own to establish myself with a cardio in the event
I ever need one. Dr C did a complete nuclear work up in his office and i was super impressed w him and his staff. Luckily, Dr C did not find anything wrong but complemented me on my proactive planning. Would recommend him without hesitation.
