As we have seen on other threads on this subject there are many opinions, views or positions. Well this one defies any logic or common sense I don't care what your party or beliefs.

We as a nation have demonstrated in recent weeks those in charge have no idea what they are dealing with or doing. We have yet to clarify what should be done (reality wise not non value adding politics).

If this does not fire up we the people and get them off their :swear: and rise up against putting this country in a more risk situation than it already is, then there is no hope. Don't be a zombie on the federal bus going who knows where. Do something about it.

For the defenders no matter what consider the subject not who wrote it or any other diversions. Treat the threat as though it were real.

True. But on this story, not only is nobody other than Judicial Watch reporting it from Administration sources they won't reveal, but other news broadcasters are not disputing the plan to bring ebola patients to this country for treatment, either.

And when only FNC is reporting such a plan, it's usually because the other networks are extinguishing the fearless work of reporters like Sharyl Attkisson formerly on CBS.

This will be brought out by the current administration to bring patients to this country for treatment. There will be an uprising of elected officials against this as a dumb idea, which it is, and than they can point the finger at the opposition party as being insensitive to those in need, not caring about the poor people inflicted with this terrible disease.

This is a political finger pointing issue only. I just can not believe how divided we have become as a nation. Pure insanity.

I believe we should do everything we are capable of doing to help those folks and send any volunteers, medicine, knowledge, skills, help that we can send. We should not bring anyone here. In fact we should do as the rest of the sane world has done and ban flights to the US from those countries.

Do you think I made this web site? It is a pretty intricate site and some one has put a lot of time and effort and appears to have a lot of knowledge about the governments of the world. I did not make it but I see no reason not to share it. You can take it or leave it no one says you have to believe it.

But I felt my radar go up after the lead physician at Emory University seemed to me to be laying some kind of ground work when he spoke at the press conference celebrating the Texas nurse being free of the Ebola virus.

I really, really, admire the work done there and am very proud of their efforts. He explained that they had used some methods; dialysis and breathing assistance considered "extreme" and " not needed" by the CDC and that they had worked.

Afterward CNN's Sanjay Gupta commented that he did not know this. But today Sanjay Gupta commented that he did not feel a quarantine was necessary. I am just a little skeptical of everyone's decisions on this issue with so little experience, even though at this point we are doing "quite well" in saving five lives out of six.. A medical issue is now a political football and as I said before, it would have been better handled by a medical person in my opinion...but there are medical people and medical people. Few "experts" exist on this disease.

Kaci Hickox has once again been on the news saying that she planned to ignore the quarantine. She may be skilled in medicine, but has very little skill in social interaction or teaching or being diplomatic or making her point. She isn't doing any good for Doctors Without Borders in my view. By the way the decisions made by Doctors Without Borders are NOT made in the U.S. It is a French Organization.

Gracie, I agree! I read that if she does ignore the quarantine, the authorities in Maine might take legal action and force her to. She sure is creating an name for herself, quite different than one she would have just for being a hero and going to the Hot Zone and helping the sick. What a shame! She's almost an insult to all the other medical professionals. Thinking as I write this, I wonder at what point she was in contact with the attorney? I wonder if the attorney contacted her in order to get national recognition. ??? This just doesn't seem like the behavior of a nurse who went to W Africa to help out in a crisis.

All one has to do is stay informed on what is happening or not in the world these days and then pay close attention to what is reported (more not reported) by the network news. Then for additional correlation review some of the foreign news networks.

When a medical or other professional licensed in a state, they are required to obey state health laws! If a licensee disobeys and knowingly and publicly defies state law, their license is usually subject to Disciplinary Action and possible suspension/revocation.

Also, if the professional is licensed and is disciplined/suspended/revoked in one state, they are subject to Disciplinary Action in another state where their license allows them to practice.

Traci Hickox openly disobeying and defying a state health department mandate in Maine, should be walking on thin ice for licensure, if she still holds a current one. But maybe she doesn't need a state nursing license, because she worked for the CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer:

A thought occurred to me. Which in itself is rather remarkable.

The thinking is that medical personnel will be hesitant to volunteer if they might get quarantined when they return.

If I volunteer to spend time in Africa and risk my life to help stop this disease, am I really going to be too concerned about a 3 week quarantine when I get back home?

Here is another for the pile of ebola nonsense. POTUS has declared that yes indeed the soldiers returning from Africa will in fact be subject to a 21 day quarantine when they return; however, civilians will not be because they volunteered to go to Africa whereas the soldier were on a mission. Now I guess this makes sense in his mind, but for the life of me can't understand why someone that was sent on a mission and not directly working with the infected are considered to be more of a threat then the volunteers directly working with the patients. And yes, I heard it first on FOX news.

I saw Sec. Chuck Hagel say on t.v. yesterday that the reason for quarantining the military people is that it is far safer and easier and efficient to quarantine the military personnel than it is to have to quarantine our medical workers who've been exposed (and thus cannot work to TREAT victims military or otherwise)!

This has been my concern all along: if our best medical personnel and hospitals get infected and overloaded and medical providers cannot/will not work, NOBODY will get treated and isolated, and then all hell breaks loose around the nation and abroad.

I would like to know why people think that Hagel's rationale is faulty when applied to civilians like the nurse putting her individual self before millions of others whom the state is legally bound to protect.

If she and her nurse boyfriend, or the infected doctor's caregivers get the disease and so do their co-workers, how is ANYBODY in the state going to get treated and isolated until they're over it??

The nurse is putting her ego at the level of God. Nobody knows yet if she might still become infected, or whether the hospital workers caring for the dr. in NY will become infected.

One person being bored in her rural Maine home is a tiny price to pay for the safety of a city of millions and all the workers needed to fight the disease!

gomoho: I just came on and was catching up on what other posters wrote. You are spot on. In fact i believe the military personnel should have had the right to volunteer. After all in real combat when an officer knows its a likely suicide mission he asks for volunteers. the medical people volunteered and they are in the thick of it and better than 250 have been contaminated. These folks for the sake of their families and secondly for the rest of us should gladly accept 21 days quarantine.

As to why the White House won't invoke a travel ban? the worse kept secret for why is because White House is afraid that it would affect mid term elections. Why? For fear of being accused of racial profiling There I said it

Thanks! A small number of users seem to think they can openly defy the site policies with no ramifications! They also ruin it for the vast majority of us who respect the policies.

I am so on the fence with this one. She is a medical professional and probably knows the disease better than anyone at the CDC or in the administration. So shouldn't she be trusted and respected to do the right thing. I am not on one side or the other like I said - on the fence. Don't think this is black or white. I know the Doctor Spence in NY screwed up but does that mean everyone following should suffer?

Kaci Hickox told Matt Lauer on the Today Show that she is leaving quarantine tomorrow, and the state of Maine is threatening to take her to court to prevent this. Buckle your seat belts, this could get interesting.

Actually, her position is quite amazing to me. She is saying "I've been treating people with Ebola in Africa and when I come home to the US, I don't think I should have to be quarantined cuz I want to go where I want to go etc"

This is not to detract from her good works etc but wouldn't she logically be the *very first* person to be put in quarantine? (make the surroundings comfy .. the tent in Newark didn't work too well)
