Andrew Tahmooressi is free.
Andrew Tahmooressi is back in the USA after spending about 200 days in Mexican prison. We can all be happy for him and his family.
A couple of things, though. All the articles about him over that time period said he suffers from severe PTSD. Is a person with diagnosed severe PTSD allowed to own, carry, and transport weapons and ammunition legally? Next, he was always referred to as a Marine sergeant. I thought he was discharged in 2012. Glad he is back in America and can get all the mental health treatment he will need. I am sure 200 days in Mexican prison would add to PTSD a lot. |
Could this be the "October Surprise" a lot of people were looking for? Will we be hearing about all the "behind the scenes activity" for the next three days? Photo ops?

Administration did little to nothing to secure the release of this man. Montel Williams, Greta Van Sustern, and former Governor Richardson of NM probably did more than anyone. I am so happy for him and his family being reunited - finally.

O.K. I don't know anything about this issue either. I heard that an ex Marine was captured and was held by the Mexican government.
Now he is free. Is he free at this moment because it is a good thing at election time? |
Welcome home

If he looked like he could have been someone's son, he would have been home in days.

I believe hearing after he had been in prison just a few days that the Marines called him back to duty. |
There is some hatred here too that I don't understand.

Gotcha. Involved with other things which we shouldn't mention because it would be political. |

I saw no hatred. The man got out of prison for making an error in judgement, never was tried in Mexico, his family, a couple of television personalities, and a former governor made pleas to get released and he was. It took over 200 days. A question was asked and answered regarding PTSD. Where was there any hatred? |

I don't know. Waiting to see. |

Whether that comparison is fair or not, Washington made no attempt to dispel those feelings in anyway. This, in my opinion created much friction. |
I would not say Bergdahl or Tahmooressi is heroic. Bergdahl walked away from his unit because he did not want to be there any longer and got taken prisoner and held for 4 years(?). Sounds like desertion. My own belief is that the Taliban said Bergdahl would be executed and the video shown IF the prisoner exchange was not made. The video probably would have said The President made the choice to let the American be executed. Definitely, a no-win situation.
Tahmooressi made a terrible error by crossing into Mexico by getting on a wrong road late at night with loaded guns in his vehicle(?). He might not have been the sharpest knife in the drawer- but not deserving of 200 days in prison by any means. Sounds like he was lost. No comparison between these two men at all. |

I made no comparison. I simply answered an inquiry into why the tension and there was tension NOT because of the people involved as you present it, but more on how it was handled by .....to be safe....lets say...powers to be. There are a number of articles making this case, but will not supply links at this time....much to p......l . However if you google both names you will have your choice. BUT I was not making any comparison between the two men or their actions. |
I can hardly wait to see him interviewed on TV. I want to see what he says. Marines are not stupid, especially after serving 2 years in combat. He is a Hero in my book.
|
Our president had nothing to do with his release. Thank you Fox news for your persistent coverage on this terrible event.
|
We all should be happy for him and his faimly.

As for being stupid, I doubt if he is stupid. |
Im a bit skeptical about this whole story and the way it has developed.
Hope we find a factual discussion of the Sgt's actions and why the Mexican and American govts reacted (didn't react) in the ways that have been reported to date. |
Wasn't Andrew Tahmooressi just in the Marine Reserves after serving his active duty time? When I got released from active duty in the Army, I still had inactive reserve duty but no one called me an Army Sergeant. Why continue to call this reservist a Marine Sergeant? He is a CIVILIAN!!
