Election Results
This is not a comment on which way the election is going, but a question if others are watching the results with the intensity I am.

I like how party has certain trigger words when their Dirty leader NEVER let house bills and amendments come to the floor For vote .What do you call that! They couldn't even pass their own agenda when they had both the house and the senate, But sure did seek some through the back door Most Famous Phrase "We got to pass it to see what's in it" This county needs to Ban Parties. Biggest corruption, But in the end it's all about money, taxing, controlling money to there party, and under the table money from Lobbists. Lobbying should be Crime Just like robbing bank. |
In my life I have voted for both parties. I bet there aren't many who have voted for the same party all of their lives.
The two major parties have changed so much over time and because of a number of issues they both have become more polarized and seem unable to find any common ground even within themselves. I am even a cafeteria MODERATE...and that isn't popular for sure. The news media are always finding something to sensationalize and there is lots of fodder among politicians. WHO in their RIGHT MIND would put themselves in the position of being politician??? I would love to believe it is someone who believes in our country and wants what's best for all of us, but my fairy tale book has been unused for a long time. We are faced with decision making about the lesser of evils it seems and we become less and less clear WHAT that is as we become older. We are disrespectful of each other and scathing toward others views on this forum. We are skeptical and worried about what is happening to this country and the world. I don't know the answers. I don't even know the questions. |
We are still a very divided country but I think we may now get a chance to turn in the right direction. Hope and Pray.

I can't say I'm jumping up and down for joy but I'm not crying in my cups, either. Results pretty much came in as expected for me.
I am sorry the marijuana initiative failed. I know what a difference MJ made for me when I was going through chemo. As to our governor, well, slime is slime and both fit in this category. It will be another two years of obstructionist government on the national level. Again, nothing new there. Life goes on and, hopefully, things will not really change for the majority of us. |

For those jumping up and down saying all bills will all come to a vote, remember any bill sent to the President is subject to veto. It takes a full two-thirds of the House and Senate to over ride a veto. That is not going to happen.
If bills look good but someone attaches a rider for repealling Obamacare, it will be vetoed. The President does not have a line item veto. For those who say the President can now be impeached, yes he can, but it takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict him. It is not going to happen. It actually looks like 2 more years of obstructionist government instead of both parties working together for a better America. |

Congratulations to the winners! Let's all try to support them in the difficult work of governing us. It will be tough. This country is more divided politically, economically, and socially than at any time in my memory. The major political parties are too busy trying to trash each other and win elections rather than do anything good for the country and the citizens that need their leadership. The minor political parties are so out on the fringe as to be frightening. I'm sad that the mantra for Americans seems to be "what's in it for me" rather than "what's in it for us."
Nevertheless, let's try to come together and be whole again. Let's stop treating elections as if they were sporting events where winning is all that matters, which clearly they are not. Let's stop treating those running for office as if they were scum and criminals, which clearly they are not. Let's be tolerant of each other, work to continue the prosperity that we currently experience, and do good things for all Americans! |

Only time will tell, but getting rid of the wall in the Senate will open it up. I am hoping that all bills that go to the WH will be now discussed, instead of how it has been done, and be veto proof when it gets there. There has been much, much room for compromise and the Senate was the main, and greatest impediment to getting things done. Should not say the SENATE, because that implies that all members have been complicit....it is NOT the entire senate at all. The leadership just squashed totally all debate and ammendments that may offer compromise. His not being the head of the Senate, hopefully, will begin to show results quickly PS.....much of my comment also applies to the House, where a very stubborn minority stopped a lot. NOW, with a larger majority, that group has lost its power and must comprmise |
I don't see the senate change of control as "more" obstructionist when the lead obstructor will soon be out of the way.
I would like to see more discussion of the issues based on each issues merits or lack thereof AND ELIMINATE the tainting of everything based on party agendas. Maybe that would allow more decisions to be made for the good of the country and less about politicians concern and obsession with re-elections and pandering to special interests. Move back to the concept of right or wrong and not the wishy washy isolated magnifying of the grays! |
I also think it is worth mentioning because of all the verbage wasted on the subject........in Utah, the state of Mormons and whites, a BLACK WOMAN REPUBLICAN was elected to congress.
She is a great story and everyone should read about her...Mia Love PS..she is also Haitian American |

Where did you read that nonsense about impeachment? |
The election results should be good news for the energy, medical devices, and defense sectors. Think Keystone pipeline, medical device tax removal, and increased defense spending. No matter what views one may have our investments are what got a lot of us here.
