Belle Glade and Orange Blossom, the new rivalry between the North and The South?
Which one gets your vote? I haven't been to either yet, but have heard good reviews on both. Bonny likes both of them. |

Rivalry
I will have to try Orange Blossom again as I love Belle Glade.

I tried to find an Orange Blossom menu on-line but came up empty.

It is the original country club on the original side of TV. It is beautiful.
|
Do they serve breakfast as they did before? We always enjoyed their buffet.

I never had chicken and biscuits but it sounds like home cooking comfort food. |
I hope they do the Sunday Brunch, loved the omelette station! Was an awesome deal for breakfast!
|
I asked and the manager said they hope to start brunch, everyday brunch, in about six months after everything settles down.
|
Directions?
A little off track, but can anyone tell me how to get to Orange Blossom? Was there probably 12 years ago and can't remember how to get there. Coming from south of 466a. Thanks :)

If you continue on Morse and cross 441 it becomes Boone at the Country Club Hills gate. Stay on Boone until it ends at the top of the hill where the water tower is and inside that circle, is the Orange Zblossom a Country Club.

There is a nice Village map for sale at the Sales Center and other locations around TV $5.

If you're coming by car, the best bet is to enter at the gate opposite Morse Blvd, (I think it's the one marked Country Club Hills although it could be Orange Blossom Gardens) go through the gate and you'll be on Boone. That goes straight up the hill to OBHCC. By golf cart, come across the golf cart bridge and go left onto Paradise Drive. The turn right onto Wales Plaza which turns into Vermont Ave. At eh end of Vermont turn left onto Lester. Just come across 27/441 and head up the hill toward the water tower. Keep the water tower in site and you can't go wrong. |

I thought it was OK. Nothing to write home about. However, I believe they have the nicest pool around. Disappointing that the waterfall has been off the two times we went this week.

Waiting for them to reinstate the all-you-can-eat crab legs they had before they closed for remodeling.

I tried OB today for lunch. The restaurant is certainly an improvement over the much need renovations that the old place was in dire need of. In my opinion the renovation is "not over the top" but nice. We sat in the front room and it looks no different than it was before except it is cleaner. The chairs at the table in the front room were like an iron scroll café chair. They were already wobbling. Tables were used banquette tables with table cloths draped over. Take a close look at the rest of the "new" furniture, good but by no stretch top shelf. I had fish and chips. Cost $12.95. Waitress mentioned something about advertising in the newspaper because that used to be the specialty when Chip ran the restaurant. Well it is OK - didn't hold a candle to what it used to be. Waitress told us it was happy hour and the price of a Manhattan was $2.50. When the bill arrived it was $3.50 with apologies for misquoting the price.
I liked it. Glad it is here. I only see the WOW factor if you are comparing it to what was there in the dying days. If you compare to Evans Prairie or Bonifay I say it's in third place for food and price. |
Here's what's cool about Orange Blossom. At how many executive courses can you just go across a street for lunch or dinner after a round? De La Vista to Tierra Del Sol comes to mind. Walnut Grove and Briarwood to Lopez. No El Santiago restaurant anymore. But now Hill Top is added to that mix.

Renovated OB is a WINNER :-)

OB Website Looks like they might have music in the future too. Yippee, I live here!:a040: |
We were there yesterday at 4:30 with a party of ten. Luckily, one couple got there at 4:00 and got a table - at 4:30 there was a 45 minute wait. Parking lot was full and had to park on the grass on the circle that goes around the restaurant and pool area. The sports bar is gone. Tiki Hut is gone. Restaurant looked 1,000 % better than it used to.
Service was very good but that many change soon when the reduce the large contingent of wait staff. Fried chicken appetizer was a meal for two if you add soup and salad. Most of our party had the $12.95 fish and chips (maybe they were looking tone it down before thanksgiving?). The fish was nothing to write home about (Athens is my fav). Selective $1 off happy hour ends at 5 PM - lots of drinks served all around at 4:45. Line of people still outside the main entrance when we left at 6 PM. Maybe they'll reopen the Paradise Rec Center restaurant that was closed about 10 years ago? . |
We tried Orange Blossom Hills Thursday night for dinner. GREAT redesign, similar inside setup to Evans Prairie's bar. I ordered the Chicken Fettuccine and my husband ordered the Steak Rigatoni. Both presentations excellent but very bland. We both like seasonings and we both asked for the parmesian and I used lots of salt and pepper. Next we will try Belle Glade but for now, my favorite Country Club restaurant (for ambiance, view and entertainment) is Evan's Prairie....HOWEVER NOBODY beats Lopez's "signature salmon"...:)

We at at OBH CC Saturday night. My husband had the Steak rigatoni and he said it was delicious. It has much, too much garlic for my sensitive gullet. I had the lime, mango chicken. We had the potato croquettes and Thai chili chicken wings as appetizers. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted even better. He said the steak rigatoni was fabulous. My only complaint was a little too much lime on the chicken. It overpowered the mango flavoring. The Yukon gold mashed potatoes and vegetables were perfect. I'm so proud of our country club.

Think it's easy to run a restaurant? Too spicy, too bland, just perfect all comments on exactly the same dish. I love all you can eat as well, but every time I go to one, unless it's a Chinese buffet, I wonder how the place stays in business. If I'm not mistaken the restaurant business has the highest failure rate of any business. |

Food is pretty good and patio area is great! Cons are: 1) Pool closes at 6:00pm so the pool cleaners sometimes arrive while you are trying to enjoy a quiet dinner/drinks on the patio and the pool cleaners and their equipment are loud; 2) If you eat inside for dinner any time after 7:00pm be ready to put up with the servers cleaning up for closing--that includes the vacuuming; 3) Inside lighting is too bright and decorating is austere--reminds us of a nursing home atmosphere. With some good management and some decorating OB could be the best in TV!
