Village Airport Van price increase
My husband just booked his return trip with them and said the price is now $40. I may switch back to the Villages Transportation Service out of Lake Sumter.
|
Interesting the fuel prices go down and their prices go up!

That's exactly what I said to my husband.
|
Still a good deal.
The Airport van picks you up and drops you off at your house. They also make stops only in The Villages now. I've never had to wait for a van in Orlando...as soon as one drives away another pulls into their assigned slot.
They have something like 35 vans now. We're happy with them and at $40 it is still a good deal. |

I believe it hasn't dropped in comparison $40 per person is a fair rate take out the cost of operation taxes, fuel ,tolls ,insurance, maintenance, wages and I'll bet profit margin is not all that great |

Thanksgiving week my kids are flying in and out of Tampa. Does anyone go there?
|
Welcome back all. Prices for everything are going up. Also you cannot get a reservation for dinner.

It still beats driving to and from the airport. Mom and Dad are using them today. Worth every penny!
|
The price of airport pricing goes up every year (based on what...cost of asphalt sealant going up?) so a $5 increase in a trip may help offset giving drivers and workers a slight increase to help offset Obamacare costs for the employees, regardless of who pays their insurance.

Its the on season.....Hotel prices go up....food prices go up....They make there money during the on season ....
|
Or MAYBE the $5 increase helps to offset their customer appreciation reward of every 10th ride 'free'….and providing free rides for active military!
Are there that many people here who have never worked in a business that has to be conscious of overhead costs to keep the place running??? https://www.villageairportvan.com |

It's not a subject I'm passionate about either, but I do like the door to door service. When Fireboy was still working in Canada, sometimes he'd arrive at 2 AM after the Shuttle Service was closed. I was very happy to have The Village Airport Van drop him on my doorstep. |
One thing for sure The Villages Transportation will be there, and on time. Quality service. and Not an employee.
|
That's now the same price as the private car service we have been using. We especially appreciate being the only ones in the car after a long travel day, and always going nonstop from point A to point B. If you feel like getting coffee or having a bathroom break, they'll stop. And when our flights are delayed or canceled, they figure it out and respond accordingly.

"The company has already hundreds of thousands of passengers in more than 11,000 trips back and forth to the Orlando International Airport each year."I can't even imagine buying commercial livery insurance for liability with this many vehicles transporting 6-7 passengers, with the number of miles in 11,000 trips per year. Also, one of the drivers told me once that they have to have a clean driving record with zero violations to be hired. I think it would take higher pay to attract the higher-quality drivers. http://www.**************.com/passen...-van-turnpike/ |
I'm done tipping then
|
Stop complaining everyone.. The airport transportation was originally set up by the developer. When they sold it .. it is now a free enterprise..They can charge what they want.. Think about what your shuttles to the airport cost where you used to live.. for me it was 50 Bucks and it was only 30 miles..I'm not going to gripe about a 5 buck raise .. and now they even pick me up at the house! This is not a big issue!

Both are a bargain with good service. But as cfrance said, if you have 2 passengers you can hire a private driver for about the same price and sit back and relax in quiet (no others riding and complaining) in a luxury or full-size car. |
----Our Granddaughter is flying in from California---arriving at 11:30 PM---actual time of last Village Transportation pick up is 11:45 PM. The Village Airport Van is 24/7 --they monitor flights, etc., and will deliver her to our door. Too late for us to be driving to and from Orlando---Am grateful for this service and 40.00 is certainly a fair price.

"The other one" runs 24 hours, will meet your flight, and takes you to your door, but you might have to go to others' doors too. Is that right? Even close? |
The Villages Transportation connects with a cab service at Lake Sumter Landing that will take you right to your door. it costs an extra $10 each way. Plus tip, of course.
|
I just call my private chauffeur which he used to be a town car driver in Orlando, $80 trip to sanford or orlando airport. My wife and myself travel for the same price and we have all the car to ourselves. I know we pay a little more, but the comfort of going from my door house to the airport terminal in an hour is priceless! besides we get complimentary stops if we ask for. :pepper2::spoken:

You are correct. The Villages Transportation does not go door to door, their schedule is fixed, and they don't run 24 hours per day. They pick up/deliver people to the Shuttle Station. The Village Airport Van (352-241-2000) runs 24 hours, will meet a flight, delivers to your door, but they may make other stops along the route. |
Somewhat confusing. The banner ad which often appears at top of page indicates the Village Airport Van "is still $35" but when you click on ad it then tells you the price is $40. Maybe it's time to correct the banner ad.
