Saddlebrook Dog Walkers

I know this will probably not get to the offenders, but I want to vent some frustration. I do not understand why you cannot pick up after your dog. Are you too lazy..or what ? I have found filled doggie bags laying directly on the ground in plain view, stuffed into the nooks of trees, thrown into the bushes or dog poop not picked up at all. It's your dog and your responsibility to clean up after him. Please do not leave your mess around and spoil it for the rest of us. Most of us are responsible dog owners. Please do your part.

Bonnevie 11-19-2014 01:52 PM

as another responsible dog owner it annoys me as well. if you have a dog, picking up after it comes with the territory!

rubicon 11-19-2014 02:14 PM

I have witnessed bad doggie behavior on the courses at Pimlico. I deduce from the behavior at both Saddlebrook and Pimlico that this type of behavior may well be common place on all courses. Unfortunately we do not have any doggie police to patrol. In addition have seen dog walkers use the green patches on the outside wall of CYV and walk away.

Probably too old (or crotchety) to bend over and pick it up ;-). Most people have phones with cameras; I video or snap a pic of people doing dumbs**t things all of the time and threaten to report them; never been wailed on yet.

My way of getting back at people that felt like they had to video me as a Law Enforcement Officer :-).

I noticed an individual in our neighborhood constantly letting his dog go on other peoples property...caught him in the act one day with his dog urinating on my grass (it kills the grass) and I challenged him. He was so shocked and surprised that he was caught that he did not know what to say...and he knew he was doing the irresponsible wrong thing!

KARENNN 11-19-2014 03:34 PM

Snow birds are back and so are the dog poop threads UGH .... let the complaining begin

Bonanza 11-19-2014 03:35 PM

Unfortunately, the people who don't accept the responsibility of picking up after their dog will never change.

Yes -- perhaps if a photo is taken of them and then posted on that other site, they will be embarrassed into doing the right thing.

Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I'm speaking about the two-legged ones!

karostay 11-19-2014 04:39 PM

I believe that's why they closed to Polo fields

karostay 11-19-2014 04:45 PM

Where do pet owners get the notion they can let their pet relive itself on a neighbors lawn or any private property even if they pick it up ?

Never heard that about the polo fields, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Some of the dog owners are arrogant. They know they're not supposed to leave it on the ground, but don't care.

gomoho 11-20-2014 08:00 AM

WOW, what a relief I thought all the dogs had stopped pooping in The Villages -haven't heard anything in so long. But I agree dog owners should pick up. Unfortunately these posts do no good but start the war up again.

mikeandnancy1112 11-20-2014 08:35 AM

People shouldn't have dogs if they can't pick up after them!

Topspinmo 11-20-2014 08:52 AM

I see this around all the Rec centers, pools, courts, walking trails, and golf practice area's. IMO villages not very pet friendly, there not enough dog parks through the villages (each village should have pet area IMO) so owner's are forced to walk around public areas I agree most pet owner's do the right.

Each home has a dog park.:duck:

The polo field have not been closed !! All activities (except polo) were placed under the responsibility of the recreation Dept. It had nothing to do with dogs or dog poop. I will say the Rec Dept. has made some goofy decisions regarding the usage of the polo facility. For example, walkers cannot use the exterior paths after 12 noon. If one would observe the activities in the afternoon, you would seldom see anything happening.

There's nothing illegal about either one of those actions, and a number of offenders on both sides of that camera.

I agree with taking the pics of offenders. You brought up the videotaping of LOE, KC. I also agree with the courts who have sided with those who have been arrested for videotaping police, calling it a constitutionally protected right.

"Slowly but surely the courts are recognizing that recording on-duty police is a protected First Amendment activity. But in the meantime, police around the country continue to intimidate and arrest citizens for doing just that. So if you're an aspiring cop watcher you must be uniquely prepared to deal with hostile cops." (Quoted from Gizmodo.)

Most people like to take their dog for a walk and get some exercise at the same time.
And most pet owners are responsible and respectful.
But there are always a few "bad apples".

I agree there aren't enough dog parks in TV.
There is only one small dog park in Bonita on a hill to serve the huge dog population between CR 466 and 466A.
I'm not saying it's right, and I don't personally do it ....
But the absence of dog parks is why most people walk their dogs at the postal stations.
We pay to take our two dogs daily to a private dog park for off leash playtime.
But not everyone wants to spend their time getting in a car and driving their dog to a private dog park which is not golf cart accessible.
The Villages provides tennis courts and baseball diamonds and pickleball courts and many golf courses.
Dog parks have been overlooked for this city that calls itself pet friendly.

I am going to steal this quote and post the crap out of it.

I walk our dogs up to a local cul-de-sac and they do their thing in the center island, but then I pick it up! No one wants to see dog poop on private OR public property. The owners that don't pick up after their dogs have the same mentality as the smokers that leave their butts on the ground!

CFrance 11-21-2014 10:56 AM

I have seen more cigarette butts at the end of my driveway than I've ever seen dog poop left behind. I think I've seen two loads in the last three years.

But I do stay mostly on neighborhood streets and a dog park.

Have to take a bag for their butt and another bag for their other butt.:rant-rave:

shcisamax 11-21-2014 05:31 PM

I have had cig butts and empty water bottles that end up at the end of my driveway. Such a disgrace.
