Lakeside Landings
 

I have a friend who is interested in living in Lakeside Landings. I do not know anything about this community other than the location and that they are currently building new homes. Can anyone tell me any pros or cons to living there?

We lived there for over five years and loved it. We had a villa in the back. Nice home and the best pool in the area. I highly recommend living there. We had all that The Villages had to offer at less price. We lived there as a convenience for our lives at the time. We drove a street legal golf cart so we could hit the squares and golf courses when we wanted. But I can't say enough about the pool, huge, pretty and family friendly.

You say you "lived" there. Where do you live now ?
I didn't know people living in Lakeside Landings could get a pass to golf on our courses.

You're right, Bonnie. They do not have a free pass to the golf courses and cannot even get a guest pass to the execs.

The only "amenities" they have access to are the same ones available to the general public: the squares and the multi-modal trails if they have a street legal cart so that they can reach from their community (via 35 mph or less streets) to the trails.

Could you explain what this means??

I have a friend who lived there for several years but moved to The Villages in order to take advantage of "ALL" it has to offer. The one response just doesn't make sense unless it's "just" the restaurants, shops and squares! NOTHING else is offered "IF" you live at Lakeside Landings.

Just curious as to what their monthly HOA fee is at Lakeside.

From the listing: All the grounds in this community are well manicured and maintained through the HOAs. Also included is Complete Lawn Service, Mulching, Irrigation, Pest Control, Power Washing, Exterior Painting, and roof repairs.

We had an in-area guest pass at the time. This enabled us to play any of the courses as a guest. They were pretty lenient with us at the Country Clubs and would allow us to play without my in-laws. If one of their friends put us in, they would accept it.

No, as I mentioned earlier, we had and in-area pass that allowed us to get into the pools and golf courses. We seldom used the pools because LL's pool was much nicer. But I golfed often. I will say that there are a few people that have figured out how to get by the local restrictions on the golf. I know some folks kept their original drivers licenses from up north so they appeared to be out of the area. Not condoning it, just stating a fact.

I could have put that better. All that The Villages has to offer that WE were interested in. We both work so the clubs have no interest to us. We golf and enjoy the entertainment while also had golf cart access.

By the way, we had 4 neighbors that moved out of TV to live there. They didn't have any interest in the clubs or other activities like that but wanted more home for their buck. They are minutes from the squares and shopping it felt better living there. Their words, not mine.

I can understand having an out-of-state drivers license (even a real one) many snowbirds live close to TV during the winter months. How do you get an in-area pass? I never heard of this pass.

To answer the OP, Lakeside Landings appears to have well built homes for the money. It's a matter of personal preference as some prefer a "smaller community".

Eligibility Requirements:
A resident with a valid Resident ID card can make application for a Guest ID
card. A qualified guest is defined as an individual whose current residence is
outside Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. A resident who has a son, daughter,grandchild or great grandchild (and their spouses) who reside in Lake, Marion or Sumter counties may apply for an In-Area Guest ID card.
Issuance:
Guest ID cards are issued for a guest (s) whose current residence is outside
Lake, Marion and Sumter counties for up to 30 days from the issue date. Guest ID card renewals may be requested after the 30th day for an additional 30 days
and renewals may continue to be issued every 30 days.
The In-Area Guest ID card for qualified family members is valid for one (1) year from date of issuance.

Where is Lakeside Landings? I am unfamiliar with it.

Never mind I googled it. I have played golf a Few times at Lake Miona - funny I have never heard of L L.

Some people prefer to have more home for their money and not live in a big community.

I have run into several people who have lived outside TV and they come here for events, and to visit restaurants.

Could it be that some people want to have their cake, and eat it too?

Clearly no other community has the amenities and activities available in TV. That being said, not everyone desires those amenities or activities. There are many attractive retirement communities in central Florida, but only one The Villages.

Is there a pool?
I'd like to know more about the pool.

LOL, there's lots of little ones that live there. I have several friends that live there with kids.

This question is for anyone--I just used your info, sorry. How does one from Lakeside Landing qualify for the In-Area guest ID. Is it not in Sumpter, and therefore ineligible for a pass?? We have way too many golfers for the courses we have now. My group of 4 has already been shut out twice just since October, and we have low points.

I believe non Villagers can call same day for available tee times without needing to be a guest. The guy who wrote the book about TV also puts out periodic info on alternatives to TV. His latest was on Lakeside Landings and he talked about this golf option. I am an avid golfer and find no alternative better than TV for golf, plus the rest of what TV offers is unmatched, IMHO.

We were an exception because my in-laws were residents so we qualified for in area guest pass. I have lived in TV for two and a half years now and as a guest for the previous five and we NEVER were shut out of any tee time. Maybe we are more flexible on our courses and times, I guess.

Seriously? There many courses nearby that are another level of quality compared to TV courses.(Stone Creek, Candler Hills, Juliette Falls) Just can't get there by golf cart.

Yes, seriously. There is variety, beauty, and challenge for all levels. Let's see...12 championship country clubs and 32 exec courses. Plenty for me, and notice I also mentioned "plus the rest of what TV offers"= unmatched.

It sounds like TV needs to change, or tighten, rules that allows outsiders to golf free on executive courses. These are not visiting "guests" but outside residents and passes should be limited.

How many of these passes would you guess are issued?

Oh no, it wasn't free. We paid to play with an in-area guest pass. I believe it was like $10 or something close to that on executive courses and we paid just above resident rate for championship courses.
I think this was considered a benefit to those that wanted to have family close by. Now that we live in TV, our children and grandchildren have the same passes(although, hey would have had them through my in-laws anyways.)

Why? The person with the pass pays for anything they use.
