Paranormal or Hoax???
You be the judge..This artist got in touch with me to ask if I would fund a documentary for him, needless to say why me???
I have many different thoughts on this painting, I would like some of yours.. http://www.anomalist.com/reports/painting.html |

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Okay Donna, I read it. My primary reaction was that I never ever want to take whatever drugs this guy was on. Now I'm not a big believer in those folk who discover an image of Mother Theresa in their toast or find that a leaking water pipe has stained their wall in an exact duplicate of the Infant Jesus of Prague. And I am a bit unsure as to whether I believe the story of art creation by turpentine spilling. It's BS, to be sure.

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Thanks Muncle..I agree..This guy is a nut! ::)

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Did you Snopes.com the man?? Would not trust Google all that much as you might get a lot of junk. They just pull up whatever happens to be out there.
I did see a window in Clearwater at an office building that looked very much like an image of the Virgin Mary. http://www.visionsofjesuschrist.com/weeping157.htm Thought that in nature or affected by nature (rain in the Clearwater window) something like this is going to appear at various times just because of co-incidences but the painting you linked looks like there was a person trying to create images on that canvas. I am with Muncle that the painter probably was on something when he did this work or afterwards and just does not remember. Some vandal destroyed a lot of the image of the Virgin Mary in Clearwater. Liked to go by it every once in a while before that happened. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/5296 |
Re: Paranormal or Hoax???

I sent him an email and told him to contact another group..I am going to Google his name.. By the way, his name is Salvador G. Valdez so he claims..We really have no clue who this person is :dontknow: |

The UTEP library had a lot of art of El Paso artists. I think I messed up the UTEP interview and aftermath with my survivors' rights stuff as I got a little too pushy. You do not mess with Texas. >:( He might have used that canvas for previous works and then painted over it which would explain the interaction with the turpentine??? Was only in El Paso in 2001 for about a day. They paid to fly me in and then right out again so I did not get to see any of the sights, meet any of the people, etc. Maybe this man looks at TOTV??? |
Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Donna, You need to run...not walk away from this one. It screams scam.

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Saw a very odd little movie on DVD yesterday called The Sasquatch Gang about a hoax involving Sasquatch.
This movie was made by the people who brought you Napoleon Dynamite and is that kind of movie that makes nerds heroes. Anyway, Samhass is probably right about this being a hoax. |
Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
See that the Clearwater Virgin is listed first in the Wikipedia article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percept...ater_Virgin.22
Anyone else on TOTV see the Clearwater Virgin while she was up in Clearwater??? Did not see any mention of Salvador G. Valdez's painting in this Wikipedia article. |
Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
Trust me guys, I did not fall for his scam..I knew it smelled funny from day one..
I told him to call TAPS... |

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
It is so easy to pass these so called paranormal experiences off as fraud. But how can we be sure?
The Catholic Church has appointed Saints with no absolute proof. Right? Is there absolute proof there is a God? Anything concrete we can put our finger on? Is there proof there is an afterlife? Anything concrete we can put our finger on? We all believe in things that cannot be proved with concrete evidence. So how can we say this painting is a fraud with no absolute proof? Just food for thought. |

Re: Paranormal or Hoax???
He teaches Middle School Art at Guillen Middle School in El Paso, Texas.
As a teacher, I find it hard to believe that he would risk his career by conjuring up a fraud. This would not be to his advantage. I have his phone number...Donna, do you want it so you can talk to him? |
