Three in the morning noise
 

Did anybody hear what sounds like gunshots or explosions early this morning? I know about threads regarding noises but this early? Have no idea but curious.

We live on Palmer - Riley. My wife heard a number of what she called gunshots. There were a number of sheriff cars riding up and down 466 during the noise. Interested in finding out what really happened.

I'm in Winifred and they sounded like they were in my back yard. My little yorkie went on guard like a pit bull. At 3-ish, I first heard at least three "shots," followed by another few. Shortly after those, I heard another set. I called 911 and was told they were patrolling the area trying to locate the source. Certainly unsettling to be awaken by those sounds.

I live in Bonnybrook and at 3:00 AM was awoken by what all of you describe. It occurred twice causing me to take a peek outside. I suspect but can verify that perhaps it is wood framing or siding expanding with the rising temperature?

Noises last night
 

I live near Lake Sumter and last night was awKened by a loud boom followed soon by what also sounded like rapid gunfire....very strange.

I heard similar noises in the afternoon. just 2 or 3 pops.

It did sound as if it was coming from Lake Sumter.

I didn't hear anything, but was it possibly the Navy bombing in the forest? I didn't read anything in the paper about.

Can't hunt ducks at 3AM only at dawn light to sun set at specific time and minute predetermined time when it starts and ends.

It woke me up in Largo! I thought I was dreaming but my dog went berserk!

I wish all of you who posted that you heard this would call the police non emergency number. They can't be aware unless you let them know. It sounds like someone is firing a gun to me and at three in the morning that looks like it is just spiteful. Someone who doesn't like old people? Someone who doesn't like our nice place?

Please all of you who heard this, call the police and let Nehemiah Wolf know what is happening. He can't know unless you tell him. He will DO something or try to do something. Whatever it is, it can't be right.

Heard them around 6:30 Sunday morning and I'm in Bonita. Total of about 20 shots.

My wife heard it, I sleep more soundly and have CPAP. We are in Bridgeport Laurel Valley. Where we cane from, we had a large Naval Air Test Center where I worked as an EE. The paper always wrote warnings when their would be low flights over The County. We only dropped inert bombs.

Maybe the Daily Sun could set up a link to NAS Jacksonville and get advanced warnings of bombings in The Ocala Forest. Would eliminate one source of the unknown source.

We heard 2 "shots" around 7:30p.m. (football game had a 2 min. warning according to the "athlete" in the house). It really sounded like a gun, close, maybe Odell Circle between Odell Rec Center and the Amelia Pool area. People were out in their drive-ways checking. Don't know if any called the police or not. We did not.... Weird isn't it?? A thought came to mind...wonder if someone is driving around doing that...shots in the air to alarm people??!!

"IF" there is to be a next time...will definately make a call to the authorities!
