Buffalo are gone!

>:(
It is a sad day in the villages, yesterday I saw them take the buffalo out of Sumter and also Parr Dr. We villager's are loosing what is rightfully ours because of a few who don't follow the rules and common sense!

What will be next?

Mr S. must be rolling in his grave! :'(

samhass 05-30-2008 05:13 PM

Re: Buffalo are gone!

Carolyn, I agree that is sad. I'm not so sure of what made them "rightfully ours", however.

carolynpage 05-30-2008 05:20 PM

Re: Buffalo are gone!

Mr Swartz, the "founding father" of the villages got them orginally I think from Mich. and put them here for the villagers to enjoy and (I am sure some sort of tax right off too.)

Buffalo ~ & yesterday's thread ~ are gone!

While the animals might be gone (I've not been by the fields to verify), so is the entire thread from the last fews days reflecting someone's rage and overreaction against anyone unfortunate enough to be standing closer to the fences than she thought prudent. Also deleted were the intelligent comments recommending prudence and a more reasonable, instructive approach to people viewing the buffalo.

How come? While the conversation/monologue did get testy at times, it was nothing compared to the diatribes in the "Politics" forum, especially when someone dares to disagree with Larry, Moe, and Shemp or one of their acolytes. And the horse was pretty much out of the barn. Most anything that would be said was already out there. Nothing new was coming. Was deleting the thread an attempt to clean up the archives, to make it appear that we don't have familial conflict? Is mom coming to visit and we want to look good for her?

Someone deleted the whole " I am soooo mad" thread?

Is big brother here?

Is this 1984?

Are we being sold to someone?

Why can we talk about some things and not others?

I haven't even got around to asking about all that hype some years ago about sexually transmitted diseases being quite rampant in TV! >:(

Don't know who took the thread off, but, before we start blaming Big Brother, remember, that the person who originally started the thread, can remove it at any time. I remove mine when I get the answers I am looking for. We don't know who removed it, actually, do we? If you DO know that admins removed it, please let us know, so we can complain, also, knowing the facts.

Yes, the originator can remove the entire topic, regardless of how many other comments have been submitted. I REALLY don't like that. However, so can the administrator. I'd like to know who did it in this case and possibly why. I find it difficult to believe that the originator has come to her senses.

Just curious..I have been following the problem with the Buffalo but where did they move them to? In the past the Buffalo were routinely moved from pasture to pasture...are we certain this move was any different??

Did the Buffalo roam?, or did the thread roam?, or did we all shuffle off the buffalo?

You said this earlier. "especially when someone dares to disagree with Larry, Moe, and Shemp or one of their acolytes." Now, someone is disagreeing with you, so you find a need to be condescending? you said this. "I find it difficult to believe that the originator has come to her senses." Sounds like you are upset someone hasn't come to 'YOUR" senses. And, if someone starts a topic/thread, of COURSE they have a right to take it off, whether you like it or not!! If someone removes something, and you have more to say about it, just start it again, instead of putting people down.

I had a wonderful day out with the nice people of TV and look what I come home to find. FYI - I pulled the thread, so there is no need to call the administrators "Big Brother". They had nothing to do it with it.

I posted a personal experience as a way to vent MY frustration, but I should have known better. I appreciate that 98% of the responses were positive and for that I am thankful.
But I found a few were becoming very nasty and hateful, not only to me, but to each other. And to what end? This is not a political issue and was not posted in the political forum, where yes, people should expect these kinds of responses.

So, mystery solved. I pulled it myself. Did I come to my senses? I would do the same thing all over again. No apologies. I do expect an apology from Muncle when he told me to F :edit: off and die. His words, not mine.

Do I care if you like whether I pulled the thread Muncle? Not in the least. And for future reference, if I were you, just a suggestion, I'd stay far away from me. ;D Have a nice day happy TV'ers!

Aw..

The Buffalo are gone?? That is so sad, but I guess it's for the better..

Now at least we can rest easy knowing the people and Buffalo won't be hurt!

It's too bad it had to come to this!

Re: Buffalo are gone!

I am also saddened. I guess the decision was made and our thoughts dismissed. Can someone elaborate on what is being done with the land near LSL behind where the buffalo were?

Re: Buffalo are gone!

Okay, then it's time for us to make our peace with it. I enjoyed seeing the buffalo when I did, and I'm sorry they won't be in TV as part of the local color, but I never thought of them as "mine." As I said in the other post on the subject of the buffalo: Life goes on!

Muncle 05-31-2008 01:25 AM

Re: Buffalo are gone!

Don't know about the LSL range, but there were a few head of cattle in the field between 466 and Parr Dr.

I’m glad you had a wonderful day and hope you have many more. That’s what The Villages is for and why likely most of us moved here. But lets get down to the nitty gritty. First of all, I did not tell you “to F :edit: off and die” as you so claim. I may have felt it, but did not say or type it. Had you not decided to delete the topic we could go back and verify --- we’ll get into that later --- but since we can’t I’ll paraphrase as best I can. I believe I said that were I standing at the fence admiring the buffalo and someone perceived that I was standing closer than she thought I should and came ranting and raving at me, I’d tell that person to FOAD. However, since I was not standing by the fence and was not the target of your ranting and raving, I did not tell you “to F off and die” or anything similar. So, if you do expect an apology, you’ve got a really long wait. I guess holding your breath in the interim is out of the question.

And by the by, I did not refer to the administrator as Big Brother or anything else. This is hardly the first time someone has done so, however, most generally without an abundance of malice. This time it was Gracie. I trust this not qualify her as nasty and hateful. She seems like a nice person.

You latest compatriot, I was going to say stooge but why be mean, RCT says that you have the right to delete any topic you start. ---- You remember RCT? He was the one calling people stupid last night because they disagreed with your/his view on buffalo fence approachment. (I know it's not a word. I don't care. I like it.) He’s correct. You do have that right, though I still find it offensive to unilaterally delete a topic that has attracted such interest and diverse opinions. You remember that 98% of the comments were positive, which I interpret as agreeing with you. I somehow don’t remember it that way – surprise, surprise. We could go back and look - - - no, no, we can’t do that. Anyway, the way I remember it is your description of your encounter followed immediately by several posts that basically followed the same outline --- “Gee Chelsea, you’re so wonderful. You sure told those morons off. You might have saved those kids’ lives.” Then someone posted a comment that questioned your tactics, that suggested that an alternative method of broaching the subject with people, one less in-your-face and more diplomatic might be better. Then the general tenor of the conversation started to change. There were even a few posts understanding of people who stand too close. And then, of course, RCT started calling people stupid for daring to disagree. Ah well.

So now we come to your closing shot: “And for future reference, if I were you, just a suggestion, I'd stay far away from me.” Sounds to me like someone is losing it a bit. I realize you hate it when anyone dares to disagree with you. Your idea of a spirited discussion seems to be when you or Moe or Shemp make some inane political statement and the other two and some other stooges immediately come in with :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: responses. I’ve honestly expected you to blow up in the past when someone responded with only 3 or 4 :agree: instead of the mandatory 6 or whatever it is. So now you’re threatening me. I’m crestfallen. I’d appreciate it if you could post your calendar every week so I can make it a point of staying away from you. So far I’ve not gone to a second Crisper’s to-do primarily because of you, so if you’re not going to attend, please let me know so I can try another one.

In the meanwhile, if you do decide to try treatment at the Florida Home for the Bewildered, I wish you the best of fortunes.

Re: Buffalo are gone!

I think it is really sad that a few people had to bring charges against the Villages. These 3 people had to find a way to get a few bucks at the expense of the BUFFALO???? The wild animals were smarter than the people sticking carrots in their faces. The wild animals know how to protect their young and the stupid people go up to them like they are puppies... Wake up the remainder of us 67,000 villagers.... we like looking at the animals as we pass by in our carts....the buffalo are part of the Villages. Maybe we should sue the idiots who disturbed the buffalo.

You better get your facts straight now, man!!! Who did I call stupid??? Who man?? I stated an expression!! You might like to push people around, but I tell you, don't try it with me, I don't rollover easily!!! Get off your high horse, or cloud, or whatever it is you are on. I used to enjoy the humor of your posts, but now, all you seem to do is whine, and complain, and start crap. I said "you can't teach stupid". NOT, "you can teach, stupid'. Now, get YOUR facts straight, ESPECIALLY when dealing with me!!!

Well MAAAAN, we could go to the video tape, but your buddy deleted it. Actually I do not pay a lot of attention to what you say, but I do know that at least one person interpreted your comments that way. If you didn't mean it as read, you know know what it's like to be misinterpreted. And don't threaten me, A :edit:; You can use as many caps as you want and it means nothing.

And quit sending me PMs repeating your boring ALL CAPS threats.

You are sounding more and more like a disgruntled, miserable person. Have fun throwing your slander around. the facts are, that is said"you can't teaxch stupid". One person said something, and I explained to brightspot, that if i meant it toward her, then i would have attached it to her comments, just like i am attaching this to your latest diatribe. my comment, is an expression used by a comic, as i stated in that post. now, those are the facts, if you can't handle the truth, then so be it. have fun with your game of making people unhappy.
