Horrible Prime Rib

Went to MezzaLuna, last night--the couple next to us had ordered two prime ribs--the prime ribs came out and were the most anemic looking over cooked prime ribs I've ever seen--they looked like they would be a filler for a Philly Cheese Steak- And they were part of a $55.oo Valentine Day Special--

dolpterry 02-15-2015 06:55 PM

Wow just the way I like them.

Bogie Shooter 02-15-2015 07:32 PM

Just another negative restaurant post.............

georgea 02-15-2015 07:41 PM

I was at Mezza Luna last night. The place was packed and they were handling things quite well. Five people at out table had the prime rib and thought they were fine. Not the best I have ever had but far from the worst. Considering the circumstances, I think everything there was just fine.

georgea 02-15-2015 07:47 PM

We also were at Mezza Luna last night. Five people at our table had prime rib. We were satisfied with the dinner. Had a wonderful evening, good service and good company. They were quite busy and handled things professionally. Sorry, if the poster did not think my prime rib looked good. It certainly tasted alright.

Bonny 02-15-2015 08:56 PM

We were there tonight. Hubby got the stromboli and I got pizza. Very good. We got there about 3:30 and left about 5:15. They were starting to get pretty crowded as we were leaving. A lot of take out orders while we were there.

fred53 02-15-2015 09:00 PM

If it wasn't your order...

then you shouldn't be commenting....

I guess if you can't complain how bad your food was, complain how bad the person's food next to you looked. Don't think I ever examined the table's food next to me.

Might be a little awkward staring at people's food that were next to me.
Um, excuse me, could I inspect your food ? I would like to write something about it on the internet.
Thank you so very much. :ohdear:

The people next to me said the prime rib was tough, guess they were too timid to complain-just another thought --why go to an Italian restaurant for prime rib , when you can get a prime rib that's 4 times the size for less $$$

Let's see, if it was a small prime rib (8 ounces) then 4 times size would be 24 ounces (a pound & a half) for less $$$. Where can I go to get this great bargain? Do I need a coupon?:mmmm:

You need to work on your arithmetic. I wonder what your golf scores look like.

Golf View 02-16-2015 10:40 AM

Sorry, the thought of that large prime rib clouded my mind.

john1953 02-16-2015 10:55 AM

I`ve never had a bad meal at Mezzaluna.True I haven`t had the prime rib though.I usually order some type off italian food when we go.

bagboy 02-16-2015 11:01 AM

The only time I notice someone's food at another table is when it arrives, appears to be several scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate and nuts and whipped cream, and topped off with one or more cherries. Usually 2 or more spoons to enjoy it with...and it sure didn't look too "tough" to eat to me.

Bonny 02-16-2015 11:35 AM

I look because if it's something I'm ordering they better not have more than me !!! :boxing2:
:crap2:

Chatbrat 02-16-2015 01:13 PM

Honestly those prime ribs looked like they were 4-6 ozs- they would be good for a small steak sandwich--1/2" thick too

raynan 02-16-2015 01:21 PM

We were at Mezza Luna on Valentine's Day with a 5pm reservation. Normally we have Italian food there but it was a nice prime rib special on a dinner for two. Both of our pieces of meat were cooked as ordered and very tender. It was very crowded and our waitress, Jessica, handled her tables with professionalism and lightheartedness. She teased us by saying "now keep gazing into each other's eyes while I'm gone". Sorry if someone else's meal was not up to par. We enjoyed our evening.

Chatbrat 02-16-2015 01:29 PM

Now I got it dinner special for 2 @$55.00/ glass of champagne, dessert, salad--small rib is ok for that price

mtdjed 02-16-2015 10:25 PM

Why are we so critical of other peoples opinions?

maryanna630 02-16-2015 10:31 PM

I agree....it seems that no one can ever voice a a negative without being lambasted. I am seeing it on every thread from restaurants to high prices on new homes to horrible hospital experiences. The same people jumping all over anyone's different opinion. What's the deal here? I don't see much tolerance for differences.

Perhaps the couple next to you ordered their prime rib extra well done. :mmmm:

Chatbrat 02-17-2015 07:07 AM

They did not , we conversed about their choice, I was going to order the Osso Bucco-but changed my mind (after seeing their SPECIAL)--The prime rib in my opinion looked like it was presliced & kept under a warming lamp--a common practice for mass served food.

rubicon 02-17-2015 07:40 AM

I share the view with those posters who supported the OP's right to make such an observation.

If the meal served was as the OP described indeed even given a low expectation it should have not been served. Many places take pride in the prime they serve. In fact based on the OP's description the golden corral far exceeds this restaurants quality

Restaurant discussion is always a dichotomy because opinion = expectation and some are more readily satisfied than others....fair enough Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

You know the saying ones opinion should be kept to themselves

Just my opinion

ugotme 02-17-2015 08:42 AM

Honestly I have not read or posted in this section in a long time.
Everyone has their own tastes and who am I to say what you like or dislike.

For me I have been to Mezza Luna twice and also tried their pizza.

I will not be going back.

tuccillo 02-17-2015 09:13 AM

I heard 4th hand that the Fried Chicken didn't look so good ;-)

JourneyOfLife 02-17-2015 09:20 AM

I have not been to that restaurant and have no opinion about it.

But..... Would you order Southern Fried Chicken at an Indian Restaurant that specializes in curry dishes from India?

Generally speaking... for restaurants... especially theme/specialty restaurants, I have a rule; I stick with a restaurant's dishes that are part of primary theme/specialty!

I assume that theme/specialty restaurants that offer, off-theme dishes, do it to attempt to appease, the one person in the party, that does not like their main style of food! Their goal is to not be passed over when a small or large group is choosing a restaurant.

For example; if we go to an Italian Restaurant... I do not go there to order American/British type food! More times than not... it has lead to either a mediocre or poor experience.

Meza Luna sucks! Besides, why would anyone go to an Italian restaurant and order Prime Rib?

I love Mezza Luna. We go quite often and never had a problem.

skip0358 02-17-2015 02:01 PM

You know after the last BS posts about Mezza Luna I went there with my wife to see what was up, this was not our first visit there. We were seated, the place was packed. The waitress comes and takes our drink order and after a short while comes back says sorry for the wait here's an extra drink for your wait. Ordered our meal Veal Cutlet Parm. didn't even need the knife to cut it. Meal was delicious as it was the other times we went there. All I can say we haven't had that problem.

Same reason people go to steak house and order pasta
It's on the menu

I remember years ago Ponderosa started serving lobster tail to add to your meal. That didn't last. LOL

Hi newguy: Dis closure I have never been to Mezzaluna, in fact I don't even know where it is. However, I one of my favorites is a nice steak with a side dish of pasta and a glass of wine. So I could order a steak or prime

The nonsequitur here is that because it advertises itself as an Italian restaurant well then that's the menu o focus on. Heck the owners may not even be of Italian heritage. finally a restaurant that puts itself out as upper class ought to be able to turn out a good prime rib. Even I can do that

chuck90199 02-17-2015 06:24 PM

We've been to Mezza Luna many times. Never had a problem. We always choose Italian dinners since it's an Italian restaurant. Last night, for example, I had the Penne Bolognese and Linda ordered a Shrimp Parmagiana. Both were excellent. In fact, we've never had a bad meal at Mezza Luna. My wife says their sauce is the best she's had, and I agree.
