Village visitors found at traffic light - drunk
This should make the parents or grandparents so very proud.
_______________ Villages visitors staying in the Village of Belvedere were arrested early Wednesday morning after they were discovered passed out in a golf cart at a green light at Avenida Central and Paige Place. Steven P. Barth, 22, of Sunnyside, N.Y., and Timothy R. Barth, 25, of Severna Park, M.D., were discovered at 3:20 a.m. in the golf cart with the plastic side curtains down, slumped over and asleep by a Lady Lake Police Officer. Steven Barth told the officer they had come from Applebee’s and were staying in the Village of Belvedere, according to the arrest report. Two glasses believed to be containing alcohol were in the cupholders of the golf cart, the report indicated. Steven Barth, who had been behind the wheel, failed field sobriety exercises and was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Timothy Barth was found to have a small bag of marijuana in his pocket during a police patdown, the report said. He was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession. Steven Barth was booked at the Lake County Jail where he later posted $2,000 bond and was released. Timothy Barth was booked at the jail where he was released after posting $1,000 bond. Both are due for arraignment next month in Lake County Court. |
Stupid kids - too bad they weren't in Colorado, DC, etc. At least the pot would have been legal. My heart goes out to the parents that will now deal with the embarrassment - no need to beat them up.

At 26 & 22 they're NOT kids-dumbest persons are the owners of the golf cart

Everybody does foolish things in their youth. The parents will rip them a new one and they will pay the fines. Hopefully they'll learn from the lessons. No need to gloat.

Villages residents (a lot older than these two) have been caught drunk and half naked, doing the nasty on the bandstand at the square.
At least these two visiting twenty-somethings were clothed and pulled over instead of driving drunk, further. I don't know anybody whose twenty-something offspring are incapable of doing the same as these two. |

Not gloating at all. However there will now be two adults with new adult level crimes on their records. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they don't have priors. |

It seems age is no barrier to DUIs. An 84 year old Stonecrester just got a DUI on Morse according to the other on line paper.

I've been noticing how the other online news source always notes age, and more villagers are thinking the place is over-run with those "young whippersnappers" causing all the trouble, while there are older TV residents who do the same or worse. Sometimes it seems like the younger people from the area are being viewed under a microscope while villagers are often just as bad or worse but rant against the young people. |
Passed out at a traffic light is about as drunk as you can get. It'a miracle they made it that far.
|
I wonder if the Barths barfed in their cart while they were passed out.

Drugs and alcohol, bad and toxic mix. So sad for all involved and thank goodness there were no fatalities.

That's really drunk
I'm glad that they did not harm them, or anyone else To me a DUI death is unforgivable Debbie |
I am well aware of kids and grown ups getting drunk. Happens everywhere. Not really even newsworthy.
What is something that affects us here, the homeowners, if the very chilling fact of 14 people dead from golf cart accidents in the last five years. It could have turned out differently. Glad it didn't. Be careful who you allow to drive your golf cart. |

As for drinking and driving as the original topic is, I hope the guys learn their lesson now. Nipped in the bud, hopefully. |
Can't say I read this whole thread, but how strange that both pass out at the same time?
Graciegirl - I've seen you post that statistic before. Is there any place where I can get the details from those 14 deaths? I just want to know what not to do when I get down there. |
The focus here should be two adult males visiting and staying in a home in Belvedere and driving a golf cart were found at a stop light all the way down on Avendia Central drunk and on drugs. This means they had to travel down Morse, etc. This means they could have well and probably did place village residents in potential harms way. If they were my visitors they surely would never have access to my golf car and perhaps if they persisted my home because i have too much respect for my neighbors and myself
