Has anyone had permanent eyebrows done by
Sharie at Cal's? |
Judith Ann, if you go to the search box and type in "permanent eyebrows" you'll see three threads that have quite a few comments. Apparently Kim and Sharie both do a similar technique that gives a much more natural appearance than the old style of permanent eyebrows. Comments by women that have had the procedure say that both Kim and Sharie are very good. I have an appointment with Sharie on June 5th at 1:30 PM to get my eyebrows done. If you are game to get yours done around the same time, we can hold each other's hands, LOL! Otherwise, I'll PM you my picture after they've been done.
|
Okay, after much reflection I changed my mind and cancelled my appointment with Sharie. I subsequently made an appointment with Kim and tomorrow I am having my eyebrows done by her. After a LOT of research I just felt her technique was more in keeping with what I had in mind. I'll post after pictures . . . well, after.

Looking forward to the pictures. Friend of mine had it done by Sherrie at Cal's and they came out too dark and did not fade as promised.
|
I had my eyeliner done by Joann Larocca at Salon Jaylee in Southern Trace Plaza.
She is wonderful. My friend had her brows and lip & eye liner done. Check her out before you decide. Her # 259-6700 Tell her Wendy & Sue sent you. |
Kim is very professional and she did my eyebrows and they are perfect..I would highly recommend Kim.

Okay, ladies, here they are!

Look natural to me. I have been thinking of doing it also. Mine resemble your before picture.

O.K. I'm in. Did they do the big blue eyes too???? |
Would you believe I had brown eyes as a child, then green up until about five years ago, and now blue. By the time I'm eighty they're gonna fade to a pale, pale gray.
I will post another picture in a week; Kim says they'll "settle down" and be even more natural then. |

Since I'm in Michigan I have a couple of questions. Do you have to go back after the procedure. And, what was the cost of the procedure. I'm usually only in TV for two weeks at a time. Thanks in advance! |
Wow! They look great! Kim it is:) Do you have her phone number?
|
You go back in six weeks for a touch-up if needed.l Kim's number is 352-430-2100. She spends longer making sure you like the shape than she does doing the procedure. She puts a pain killer on your eyebrows so you don't feel any pain. You wait twenty minutes and then she starts the procedure. It feels like it does when you get a razor haircut. I know, supposedly you can't feel haircuts but that is what it feels like, or maybe that is what it sounds like. The procedure took maybe fifteen minutes. About an hour afterwards I felt a little bit of a burning sensation, nothing to write home about, for about ten minutes. That's it!

Wanda they look terrific! I just may do this as well!

Ok, y'all -- here is the acid test -- my husband. He saw the bill for the eyebrows and asked me exactly what I had done that cost $425. I didn't have on any make-up, so this was perfect. I walked over to him, looked him in the eye and said, "You can't tell?" He looked at my face and said, "No, what?"
Now this is a man that can tell you exactly how much you weigh, down to the pound. If I gain or lose a pound he says, "Hey! Looks like you gained/lost a pound." He notices everything, and I do mean everything. "Hey, is that a new purse?" I HATE that one. |
$425 for just the brows? Sharie did mine for half the price and she did a great job.
|
Oh, please post a picture so I can see!
|
I had no idea what this might cost. I will say I didn't think it would be quite that much. They look great though.
|
I am sure you can get it for less from other practitioners. I am happy with mine, the practitioner, and the price I paid.

Is the process similar to getting a tattoo?

Your brows look great but the price seems high. Before I got to that part...I was going to ask. Has anyone checked around to compare prices. I know, Sharie's went up last Fall. I had mine done before that...now I need them done again due to fading. BUT hesitate at exhoborant prices.

Looks great! Lots of courage to post pic thanks

I had them done again in NJ for $400 and they also faded in about 4 years. I also had them done by Shari at Cal's Salon 18 months ago for $199 with the brushstroked method and the color and brushstroke was perfect but I did not have a touch up and already need them done again!!...........I have platinum colored eyebrows so this really makes a difference for me.... I can not tell from your photos, are these brushstroked??? Thanks in advance!! |

why as women, do we think this is a lot to spend on ourselves when it seems men have no problem spending the same on a golf club?

Now I am very upfront about it -- I spend my fun money on skin care and my face. It is worth every penny. Or dollar, if necessary. |
ditto for me....while I was scrimping and saving my ex refused to buy stuff off the sale rack..said it was "the stuff nobody wanted".
|
I just moved here last week and am interested in getting my eyebrows done like you did. Are you still happy with them? And where did you have them done? I think you said the person's name was Kim? My eyebrows are going gray like my hair. Sure hope it won't be too much!

Semi-Permanent Cosmetic Tattoos | This Makeup Girl | Florida | New York City She works out of a dentist's office across the parking lot from The Villages hospital. I am extremely pleased with the result. She spends quite a bit of time working with you on the shape and design. Once you are both happy, she puts a numbing cream on your eyebrows and you relax for about thirty minutes. Then she starts to do the tattoo. It feels like she is scratching your eyebrows with a tiny comb. The tattoo part takes about thirty minutes. Then she puts Vaseline on your eyebrows, which you have to keep reapplying for three days. On the third day you go back for a touch up. She did such a good job my husband did not notice I'd had it done -- he thought my brows were the result of my usual fifteen minutes with the brow gel, pencil, filler, etc. She told me that usually ladies come back for a touch up every year, but that I would probably need to come more often because I use exfoliating products and have peels on a regular basis. There are other eyebrow artists in The Villages, and some are better than others. I highly recommend you do your homework. One person's aesthetic is another person's RuPaul's Drag Race. May the force be with you. |
I think I've read every thread there is on either permanent eyebrows and permanent makeup. I'm going to be in TV for not quite two weeks in December and I am really thinking about having my eyebrows done when I'm there.
Right now, I'm leaning towards Kim or Sheri. Per Kim's website, I emailed her asking about my time constraints. I got a form email back telling me to drop in for a consultation. Right now I have two quesions- 1) I've read so many posts I'm confused. Is Sheri (maybe spelled wrong) at Cal's in Brownwood now? I think I saw that somewhere. 2) Do they remove your old brows? I'm curious as part of my brows are really bushy and other parts are really bald, grey and sketchy! I haven't seen this question addressed anywhere. Thanks in advance! |

I had mine done by Sharie....and they faded rather quickly with one brown almost non-existant. I didn't go back to tell her about it as I wasn't satisfied with how they turned out. Then this past summer (a year later) I went to Cindy, whose mentioned here. So far, so good nearly 6 mo. later. She was pricier than what I spent before...and that with a "special". I was told over time these will fade and will need touching up....so time will tell.

I missed this thread the first time around
Wanda, your brows look great! You certainly made the right choice!
Shari did my brows and eyeliner about 6 months ago. Now mind you, I have had tattooed brows and eyeliner for 10-12 yrs now. I just needed a touch up, because, Ladies, they FADE! I had clipped a $50 off coupon from the "Daily Sun" and she still charged me over $500 for brows, upper and lower liner. She would not charge a "touch up fee" because SHE did not do the original work. I was ticked off, but had heard good things about her and hadn't read of any other options. I was not thrilled with her work. It is OK. But not great. She also requires any "touch ups" to be done within 30 days for a $25.00 fee. If it is after 30 days, the "touch up" fee goes up to $125.00. 30 days is too early, some fading and unevenness does not show up for a couple of months. I thought that was outrageous. She KNOWS fading will occur within the first 6 months. Her people skills aren't great either. I wish I had gone to Kim. I was in and out of Shari's chair in less than 30 minutes from start to finish. No artistic discussion at all and I was charged an outrageous fee, in my opinion. |
