Tomorrow is auction day!
Tomorrow the 37 year accumulation will all go up for bid! Ill be there to watch all my treasures get dispersed among the crowd. It will be a bittersweet day for me but I'm happy that its getting me closer to the "good life " in TV! ;D

Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Good luck with it Nonie. Remeber, it's the next and best phase of your life coming up!
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
 good luck Nonie. Someday I hope to get down to TV myself. And don't worry too much about downsizing. We did it 5 years ago when we moved to Wilmington, NC. We will do it again when we move from Putnam, CT to TV. Goodluck.

Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Good luck with the auction. I hope that the people who purchase your things will end up making special memories from them and cherish them as you did. For you, sweetie, just remember that this puts you one step closer to realizing your dream of living here permanently.

Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie
Will be thinking about you today and hope all goes well. |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Good luck nonie. I molted so to speak with things with the move from Rohnert Park, CA to Palm Harbor, CA and left even more stuff in the move from Palm Harbor, CA to here in TV.
Sold a lot of my books to local used book stores in Sonoma County, CA in 1995-1996 and then donated much that survived the CA move to public libraries in the Clearwater, FL area in 2005. |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie, I totally understand how you feel. In 2001 we downsized to a much smaller house so there was a huge garage sale, and I cried to part with my antique treasures. Practically gave them away, and now I'm wishing I had them for my new house.
Gee, maybe I should bid on your things? Will you take an IOU? Good luck, my friend, see you in TV soon I hope!! Kath |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie,
On my way to church so I will say a prayer your auction goes well. It sure will be a bittersweet day. Good Luck  Love, Mc |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie,
I wish you the best. Please be very careful not to bid on your own stuff. Boomer |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Thankyou so much for the well wishes my friends, now I have to pull myself away from the putter and get a move on to this Auction! Heres hoping I make enough moola to buy that new livingroom set for my TV house.
When we bought in TV I was still stuck on antiquey victorian and let me tell you that kind of furniture is pretty to look at but doesnt say much for comfort! Ill be back!!! |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
I just love Victorian houses, and furniture.. ;)
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Best of luck Nonie.
You will have the memories of those favorite pieces and how you enjoyed them. Nothing can take the memories away. We did it and it wasn't all that hard. Just think how someone else will be thrilled to have those special pieces.Sharing is good. :) :) |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Can someone explain to me when a Garage Sale becomes a AUCTION DAY????
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
I am thinking about you Nonie! Remember that the most important things in life aren't things. :)
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie, just look at the progress you've made since May and how far you've come in such a short time. Great going!!
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
My good luck wishes on your auction, too, Nonie! Auctions are amazing though - seems like everything goes - even all kinds of pieces of things that go with nothing!! When our house sells, we're having a garage/moving sale, to sell everything from this house. I'm letting go of MANY things I'm still not convinced I can part with. Good thing the house we bought in TV has VERY LITTLE storage...............so the decision to throw, throw, sell, give away, has been made for me!

How was auction day?
I am hoping all your treasures found special homes!! Tell us about your day! We are missing Nonie and Bernie here!! :'(
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
They're probably wiped out and will need time to recover. It's got to be stressful to some degree.
Hope it all went well. |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Awww thanks for remembering Ronda. I didnt want to bore anyone with the details.
but now that you asked............... It was a long day. Sat at the auction from 9:30 am to 6:pm until the last piece of :edit: was sold! Things sold very low but it is the economy and the area we live in so I wasant surprised. We got rid of everything they took away. I didnt feel the least bit of remorse, I only felt po'd when something sold for just a couple of dollars. But I am happy with the outcome and I highly recommend downsizing this way if you dont want the time and work involved in an estate or garage sale. Considering these were all items that I was not using and were just deteriorating in the barn, I am very happy. oh and yes, I made enough to definitely buy that new L.R. set.in TV. Thanks again for asking. |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Glad it went well and there was no pain involved in getting rid of the things. Sorry people were so cheap -- guest it isn't just a TV trait. Everyone wants something for nothing (or as close to nothing as possible).
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Thanks Red,
Its just that I had spent alot of time refinishing most of the furniture and when it went for 2 dollars I could feel my bloodpressure rise. I had to remind myself that I am happy to be rid of all these unwanted items that were serving no purpose at all! |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Good Luck, Nonie. I remember those "preparing to move" days so well. Just knowing I was coming to TV kept me going. Best move I ever made in my life!!

Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Even if retirement is a year off I suggest you start sorting things now. It is over whelming at times making all the decisions of what to keep and what to get rid of. Also if you need to you can pack some things away you are taking but not using. Less hassle when it comes time to move. I've been doing a lot over the past year and it is surprising how much stuff I still have to go through and make a decision. IMHO

Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Congratulations Nonie. I'm one week behind you. We are having a tag sale. Ladies are working in my home this week while I'm away on business. Our tag sale is next weekend. Look forward to seeing you in TV.
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Jojo, Good luck with your tag sale. I love tag sales they are so much fun. Heres hoping everything goes!
|
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Nonie:
I know how you felt when some of your things went for low prices. Last weekend we had a garage sale and I put out clothes that had never been worn and had the orginal price tags still attached. There were some beautiful jackets for $4.00 and people said that it was too much money and they would come back later for the reduced price. Sometimes you wonder if having a sale is worth it. What didn't sell went to a local thrift shop. The only thing that I think about now is that I don't have to pack it to take to TV. |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Caroline Rose,
I know what you mean, that is the only consolation, plus making a few bucks. Im sorry your things sold so low CR,its always a big disappointment to see the things that we thought were so nice appear almost worthless in someone elses eyes. I know people who had just given everything away and they are just happy to be rid of it, so I dont feel too bad. Good luck with your move! |
Re: Tomorrow is auction day!
Congratulations Nonie. Someday I hope to be down there as well. Glad everything went well with your auction.
