I don't know if that is good news because I LOVE their Baby Back Ribs. :welcome:

TomOB 03-26-2015 04:30 PM

It is the old TJ Westons.

KittyKat 03-26-2015 10:51 PM

Yahoo! I told the manager awhile ago that they needed to open another location on the West side. I even suggested they buy Burke's! lol :mmmm:

Did Burke's close? They were nice people, slightly different slant on BBQ, but a choice when everything in TV is full

theorem painter 03-28-2015 03:44 AM

We went by it yesterday and the sign said Oakwood Express. A small building. I wonder if it is going to be takeout only?

Was that Burke's or Westons you went by and the sign said Oakwood Express? I know Westons closed recently and Burke's has been running a newspaper advertisement for Breakfast.

TomOB 03-28-2015 09:16 AM

Westons has a sign for Oakwood Express.

Weston's is out of business. Oakwood Express will be opening there. Takeout only I guess as it is just a tiny building.

It is on Hwy 301 just as you enter Wildwood from Oxford.

We ate at Oakwood today. They said there would be a small seating area at their new store.

While the building that Westons (and Buddy's Barbeque before that) was in is not as large as the current Oakwood location, ...... it is not a "tiny building"

On 301 just north of 466A by the giant Antique Mall sign.

PaulDenise 04-08-2015 08:11 AM

Went by yesterday. A sign said that they would be open tomorrow, Thursday, 9Apr, at 11am.

They are just south of the 301 bridge that goes over the railroad tracks.

PaulDenise 04-11-2015 01:16 PM

Went Thursday at 11am. I was the second in line, but the first served.

Very, very good chopped pork. Generous portion and 2 sides for the lunch plate at $8.50.

Seating is the same as the old Weston's BBQ, so there are probably tables for 40 or so.

Beer was going to be available starting Friday, in bottles.

A great addition to the area. Nice not to have to drive to the one on 441.

Let's get out there and support them!

PaulDenise 04-11-2015 03:14 PM

Well, writing that made me hungry, so I went back for 'lupper' (lunch/ supper).

Again, it was very good with the pork moist, nice crisp spiced bark, and deep pink smoke ring. The sweet potato and slaw were also very good.

The manager said that this week was a 'soft' opening and that next week, Tuesday, would be the 'real' opening.

Indeed, they are closed Sunday and Monday....so good thing I went today.

It would be nice if we could get to Wildwood on 466A. Does anybody think thar road will Ever open again?

They promised April, but then again they promised October of last year.

Yeah, they never promised what YEAR:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Two more excellent lunches there this week.

I stick with the chopped pork but have changed up the sides.

Today's sides were the baked beans which were very good and meaty, as well as the French fries which were crisp and large.

I also noted that they have a fried fish on the menu, if you are interested.

I might have to try the beef or ribs next, but I do so love the chopped pork!

It has been getting more and more busy. Mostly Wildwood folks like realtors and city workers.

PaulDenise 04-17-2015 06:55 PM

Most crowded that I have seen it tonight, Friday. Still, immediate seating for our party of 5

My ribs tonight were excellent. Good dry rub and very tender. Also got some sliced beef. Seemed to be smoked eye of round. Very, very lean and smokey.

They continue to do well.

I'm not knocking it, but is that 4 times you've been there in the past couple of weeks? We will be there in May so we will get a chance to try it out. Living close to Brownwood makes it another good option for us.

Two times for Paul and two for Denise?
Do they have BBQ chicken?

Online information says it will open on Monday. FINALLY!!!! :22yikes:

PaulDenise 04-18-2015 07:07 AM

Actually five times in the last two weeks! Luckiest guy in the world.

They do have chicken but I have not tried it yet.

Excellent Rib Special

Stopped by tonite and they had a baby back rib dinner special, full rack plus 2 sides for $13.49.

Excellent food, got it to go but there were tables available at 6pm.

GeoGeo 04-27-2015 11:24 AM

Food was good. Limited menu. Husband said they did not have baked potatoes for example. Did not take Oakwood plastic gift card. Prices a little higher per my husband.

John_W 04-27-2015 04:23 PM

We went Friday and had two take out lunches for $13.91 total price including drinks, $6.50 each plus tax. We each got pulled pork sandwiches and I had baked beans as a side and they were the best I've ever had. My wife had cole slaw and it was good but very small cup. The sandwiches were very good and the drinks were huge 32 oz and my sweet tea was great. It is certainly nice having 466A to travel on and coming out of Oakwood onto the rear street will bring you down to 466A and avoid getting on 301.

Wildwood- do they take call in orders?

Anyone have the number?

I overheard a hostess take a phone order while we were waiting. However, after we placed our order for two takeout lunches we didn't wait more than five minutes.

I don't know if this is a car problem or what, but I'm having trouble with the new Oakwood in Wildwood. Every time I try to go up or down 301, or west on 446A, the darn car keeps turning into that spot near the railroad bridge and stopping. The GPS even showed me a shortcut off 466A. Hey, it's only 3:45. Well, maybe I am getting a little hungry, didn't have a big lunch, didn't I hear my stomach growl a bit ago? Oh, ribs! Might as well go in since I've stopped here anyway. How come they already have my order ready?

mickey100 05-24-2015 12:31 PM

We haven't been to this new Oakwoods, but the other one has a side I thought I'd never rave about - lima beans. Really good.
