Tiger predictions anyone?

1st practice round at Augusta was encouraging. Engaging with crowds, score on front nine was 30, smiles for his buds....Today a little more serious...
I sure would like to see a top ten finish.

TheVillageChicken 04-07-2015 10:31 AM

I'll have a go.
He either WDs or misses the cut and in doing so, steals the spotlight from the leaders.

steamdogman 04-07-2015 10:46 AM

After first shank or double bogie, he will begin to have spasms. He willthen another couple of holes and withdraw

Polar Bear 04-07-2015 10:54 AM

No prediction, but how he does early on with those nasty chips/pitches will be big. And how he does after his first poor chip/pitch (if he hits one) will be even bigger.

Bonny 04-07-2015 11:30 AM

I hope he does well. I really miss watching him play good golf.

I agree..............mostly the spotlight stealing.

Taltarzac725 04-07-2015 11:47 AM

Probably Tiger Woods will miss the cut if not be out before that because of continued back problems.

jebartle 04-07-2015 12:03 PM

Wow!....Just watched the golf channel and...

Tiger was signing autographs.....Not sure I've EVER witnessed THAT!
I'm a believer in karma and when you give, sometimes it gives back...Good
example, Stacey Lewis did not give hand pats after second playoff hole last week,Brittney Lincicome did...

village dreamer 04-07-2015 12:06 PM

tiger will never again, be as good as he once was.

alemorkam 04-07-2015 12:28 PM

Withdrawal before end of round Friday.

Topspinmo 04-07-2015 12:36 PM

I hope he does well, if he didn't have so much money he would probably do a lot better. I don't he hungry any more. Take hungry as motivation to pass jack records.

Buckeye Bob 04-07-2015 01:18 PM

I will be surprised if he makes the cut and finishes the tournament.

MrGolf 04-07-2015 03:12 PM

I don't think you will see his courtesy car driving up Magnolia Lane on Saturday and Sunday

Bjeanj 04-07-2015 04:05 PM

Unfortunately, I think he will not do well, probably miss the cut. I think he's lost his focus and edge, IMHO.

I've witnessed Tiger signing autographs on many occasions.

Normally I'd think that anyone that comes down with a case of the chip yips is pretty much done. It happened to me and a friend of mine that was one of the best amateurs in Massachusetts.

But, we're talking about Tiger Woods here. This guy has accomplished things and over come things that I would have thought were impossible. Nothing he does would surprise me. If he does come back I will be even more in awe of his enormous talent.

I would love to see him win this event. It would be great for the game of golf.

As far as him having too much money and that effecting his desire to win, he was given an $18,000,000 million contract by Titleist when he turned pro and that didn't effect him. After that contract expired, he signed an eighty million dollar contract with Nike and he kept winning and setting records. Money has never been a motivating factor for Tiger. His desire to be the best in the history of the game is what motivates him.

Hmm. I re-read the entire thread. Quite a few don't think he will do well. (The thread does solicit predictions after all.) But not that much Tiger-hate that I see. A little, but not all that much.

billethkid 04-07-2015 11:08 PM

I dislike the fact he is playing.
The focus of the entire media will be on him.
Way too much dialogue will focus on him.
It is an unfair distraction and dis-service to the young stars of today.
At some point the reality should begin to set in ....Tiger Woods of yesterday and yesteryear are no more.

We can hope that if he does not do well the commentators have the good sense to concentrate on the stars of the day.

john1953 04-08-2015 05:55 AM

He will be on the leader board come sunday,John Daly told me so.

With John Daly it was all three. 60 million John says he lost in Vegas---his book is an interesting read. As far as I know, it was primarily sex addiction that brought Tiger's life on a downward spiral. I doubt he makes the cut at the Masters, but if he does, he won't be a factor.

I hope he makes the cut and stages a "Sunday miracle" to finish in top 3. A good finish will genuinely improve his mindset. He's earned his fame and can overcome the negativity of past mistakes.

jim1941 04-08-2015 01:52 PM

Tiger is good for the game...just as Arnie, Gary and Jack were years ago. I hope he does well...maybe in the top ten. I love reading the hate mail....do you think "The Big Three" were faithful to their spouses?

Wow. Infidelity is never a good thing. But there's infidelity and then there's what Tiger did. And Tiger may be good for the game, but I cringe at a comparison to the big three, especially Arnie.

And in answer to your question...yes...I think Arnie was faithful to his spouse. And I really have no reason to believe Jack and Gary were not also. Are you just assuming all major athletes are unfaithful?

I think your assumption regarding the big three is just as "hateful" as anything said in this thread about Tiger...possibly more so since you have nothing to base it on.

No but money will make you lazy, I think His biggest down fall was loosing his dad! He don't have that connection and good advice when he needs it. Especially when he started hanging with BB players.

jim1941 04-08-2015 03:27 PM

Polar Bear: That was a question that I didn't know the answer to....... not an assumption!

Sounded very suggestive to me in context. But okay...fair enough.

Hope he gets cut so the golfers that are playing good get some air time. Can't stand hearing about him all week.

Even though it would be fun to watch him flame out on Saturday and/or Sunday :icon_twisted:, I can't disagree with your sentiment.

This is Tiger's career earnings.

CAREER 311 275 79 24 185 246 69.5 1133 $109,612,414.00

Jack Nicklaus, who has the most all-time wins in the majors (18) and is third on the all-time PGA Tour wins list (73), won just $5.7 million in his career, or just $78,548 per win.
Arnold Palmer, who is fifth on the all-time wins list with 62 career PGA Tour victories, had just $1.9 million in career earnings, or just $30,030 per win.

And we joined the country club and bought a second car in 1953 when my father started bringing home a hundred dollars a week.

1953 to today the Total Inflation is 779.45%.
So if you earned $100/week that is the equivalent of $800/week.

mickey100 04-09-2015 06:02 PM

Tiger opens with +1 73, middle of the pack, ahead of golfers like Snedecker, Furyk, Luke Donald, Dufner, Mahan, and Kaymer. Not bad after such a long layoff.

rustyp 04-09-2015 07:56 PM

Not bad +1. Behind Els, Garcia, Mickelson, Watson, Cabera and some 30 plus others. I suspect ESPN will change the focus slightly tomorrow since history was made today but that wasn't the script anticipated that sells commercial time.

dolpterry 04-09-2015 10:09 PM

9 strokes behind after the first round Priceless.
