Accidents
 

Bad day for accidents on Morse North of 466. A car upside down at the "round a bout" at El Camino and Morse and a little farther South a golf cart in the ditch and Fire Rescue working on someone in the middle of the street. Guess we'll have to read about it in the paper to see what happened. Drive Safely!!!!

Drove by the golf cart in the ditch at about 3:45 pm today July 17, 2008. There was a policeman just leaving his patrolcar by this abandoned golf cart. I did not see anyone around it?

John and I have been first on scene for two accidents, involving car vs. golf cart..

Minor injuries, but the occupants involved were visibly shaken..The golf carts pay no attention to traffic, and some cars pay less attention..

Guess I have a duty to respond, being a Medic no matter where I go... :dontknow:

The circles, turn arounds or whatever they call them, are extremely dangerous, even if you are paying attention...

I almost wish they could do away with them...I could only imagine the expense involved...

I find driving in TV unnerving.

It seems at times; A. no one is watching where they are going, B where they are turning, C. in front of who they are turning, D. use of turn or hand signals, E. where a golf cart is permitted and not permitted, F. no idea how to drive in the round a bouts. G To me the worst offenders are those that let underage children drive the golf carts, and the list could go on.

I wish I had some solutions to the above but I am sad to say I do not. Just wake up, smell the roses, the coffee and watch where you are going no matter the type of vehicle you are in.

Donna.... you are a Medic? I worked on a Rescue Squad for 20 years in my city(Indianapolis, In), but not certified anymore.

dg..Yes, I have been a Medic for the last 23 years...I was an EMT in NY since the 70's..

I am still certified in Pa., I take my CEU's every year, all 18 of them..I just love helping people..

John (hubby) was Fire Chief for 13 years in Pa..He is still involved in EMS..

Will never give it up..I love it too much! :bigthumbsup:

Accidents are prevalent for several reasons in a community like ours.
Some are way to old to still be driving.....

The traffic circles are not the danger it is the uncaring, aggressive, driving to fast to go no where folks who cause the un prepared novice to have an accident....

Too many think they are still up North and have to go-go-go to no where in particular....

Then there are the usual just plain nasty/rude/uncaring......

One positive note the majority of us are in no special hurry and are basically polite...but as is always the case we tend to accentuate the negative....

Congrats to all the sane and safe drivers.....

We need more cops and more tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hate stop lights but love round-a-bouts.......However they should be one lane !!!!!!

If everyone followed the simple round about rules, there would be no accidents because of them.

1. The person in the round about always has the right of way over those entering the round about.

2. If you are only going 1/4 of the way around, always stay in the right/outside lane.

3. If you are going half way around you may use either lane.

4. If you are going 3/4 the way around always use the inside lane and move to the outside lane when it is free after passing the first or second exit.

Since we have only been to TV a total of some 14 days and will begin the next 14 this Friday, my husband has driven. I ran to get the paper one time. I admit to being worried about the roundabouts and I am so glad you printed that. It is easier for me to absorb somehow when I read something.

We are getting our first roundabout here in West Chester, Ohio soon and it is on the road in and out of our develoment that the high school kids take to and from school. I admit it worries me more than a little.

Remember if you miss your turn while going around the circles or roundabouts just go around again. It's better to be safe than sorry! Most of the accidents around circles are caused by driver's trying to make a turn while cutting in front of other cars going around the circle on the outside. In NJ we used to have as much as 4 lanes of cars at rush hour attempting to switch lanes---it was hellish! These traffic circles are a piece of cake!

Yes Paris. Seven lanes going round the Arc De Triophe with you on the inside lane and the 6 other lanes filled with crazy French drivers all trying to change lanes and get off at one of the 6 exits. and you on the inner most lane making your 11th circle around just trying to go down the hill on the Champs Elysees to a side walk cafe and people watch. Worst roundabout in the world, but oh such fun.

For all the traveling we do, I've resisted all my life going to France (not that I'm going to get into the reasons...). Finally agreed to do so this past April with the proviso that we do not go to Paris, and so we didn't. A story like this just reaffirms my feeling....

My first time driving on one of the Canadian Highways in Quebec, without knowing the system - was a nightmare for me.

I was in the furthest left hand lane when I saw our exit sign. It was rush hour traffic so you know I did not make it - Yes, I believe some of the drivers were straight from Paris.

Finally got off at the next exit only to find I was then on a three lane side road of the highway, Another exit goes by until I can get into the right hand lane. At this point I think we are in New Brunswick - just kidding.

Fortunately for us, our car knows how to make u-turns with no problem.

I have never driven on that highway again.

That is why I like living where we do - no roundabouts and I think I can drive over 60 miles with out a traffic light.

I will add I will never, no never, drive on a highway in China.

But Sidney, Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Great food, sites, museums, food, flowers, history, did I mention the food. One of my favorites. I even like the people. So although I really like the French country side, the wine districts and the beaches in the South, I always spend a day or two in Paris when possible. Just take the Metro if the drivers scare you. One of the grand cities of the world should not be missed.

This afternoon, late, we were in the cart and a lady in a gray car went thru a stop sign
and around the corner and almost plowed into us by inches. So thankful the head hog
responded quickly on the brake peddle.
The gal just kept on going...fast for a side street and did not even pause nor look back.
When we got home, we were removing our packages from the cart and out poured the
charcoal lighter fluid we had purchased today. A hole in the seam of the plastic bottle had leaked fluid over the back of our cart................we could have exploded if that lady
had hit us.
Watch out on the side streets also.

Am I to assume that it is safer to be in an automobile rather than a golfcart, in case of a collision or accident ? ::) I'm already intimidated by the thought of driving the cart around TV, and will definitely need instructions before I attempt to do it....... (someday).

OH I totally agree with you Sidney. I will never set foot in Paris. Lots of beautiful cities -- I can skip Paris easily.

Not really. As long as you are a defensive driver, driving a golf cart is as safe a driving a car in TV. Keep your eye on the other guy and obey the traffic signs.

A fun place to drive a round-about is in Dublin!!!! We looked like Chevy Chase on his trip to Europe - couldn't get out of the circle.

It's strange to me that so many places are now adding round-abouts. In south Jersey, they're busy getting rid of all of them. They are called circles here.
