Completion of 466a

Hi all... Just wondering if 466a is now open between Powell and 301.

drdodge 04-21-2015 12:26 PM

SouthOfTheBorder 04-21-2015 12:35 PM

Yes it is open as I went through that way early this morning.
But it is a long way from being done. Still cones separating everything except the outside left and right lanes....one in each direction.
The islands are not done.
The paving is not done.

Open but not done!
All they did was create a passage through the construction zone.

Thanks Bill for the update, I was under the impression that the job was completed. Well at least we can get through to 301.... it's a start anyway.:ohdear:

Chi-Town 04-21-2015 03:50 PM

Going east from 301 it's open but hardly a smooth ride.

Chazz 04-21-2015 05:07 PM

I still saw the "Road Closed" sign up, this morning, at the 466A/Powell Rd intersection.

JoMar 04-21-2015 05:13 PM

Below 466A it's easier to go 44A.

At this point, just being able to get through and exit on 301 is a plus. They still intend to close 462 at the railroad tracks.

That contractor should be ashamed of this job. It's still a mess, but yes open

A contractor "ashamed" ? It seems you have no construction industry exposure. [emoji57]

SoccerCoach 04-22-2015 07:20 AM

Seems like not enough "RESEARCH" was done before AWARDING this contractor with the project. Does this have to be approved by the county before being open to traffic??
No penalties assessed?? Might be a lesson in here someplace.

what information do you have to blame the contractor, Are you privy to all the unexpected problems encountered once the project started. Did you know that once the excavation was done it became obvious that all the underground utilities needed to be redone (gas lines, water, etc,) and once that was found rights of way had to be established....no I wouldn't blame the contractor...try blaming local politicos instead for not maintaining local utilities and facilitating right of way issues,

CFrance 04-22-2015 08:18 AM

It's open. It's over. I'm glad. Now they can close the RR tracks on 462 for three weeks or longer, and I can still get to DDRR without detouring to Huey-Dooey-Looey St.

Trish Miller 04-22-2015 08:25 AM

Its easier to take 462 to 301

The contractor for this job is DAB construction. The same contractor who did the infamous never-ending widening of 441/27. 466a still needs to have the final coat of asphalt applied, and then final lane marking painting done. So, we can all anticipate more times of lane closures and mess on this "completed" road.

GPGuar 04-23-2015 04:45 PM

And it goes on and on and on and on!!!

John_W 04-23-2015 05:15 PM

It opened just in time for Oakwood BBQ.

Drove down 466a toady even though it said closed but it was open. What a joke. Lots left to do after 1 1/2 years. Side walks not finished in many areas. Road paving needed in some area. Barrels in several area. Looks like another year or so of work based on their previous track record. Hard to believe.

CFrance 04-26-2015 01:04 PM

I'm so happy it's open, no matter how long it takes for the final touches. I appreciate it three times a week when running the pooch up to DDRR. It's much more direct to 301 than taking 462, and no trains.

That's ONE of the things I like about you. YOUR glass is at least half full.

I am always amazed at how quickly TV moves in building and construction contracting. It is not a perfect science. I come from Staten Island NY and they have been working on the expressway for 13 years and it is still not completed. I agree that a construction project should have a beginning and a realistic end with a little buffer time to allot for the unexpected...After living in TV for less than 3 week,s as a frog, I see how this project directly effects movement and travel. I also have been advised that during winter months (high season) travel is especially difficult. I have no knowledge of the original plans or completion time.. all I can say is that it is far worse in different areas on the country.. of course that is why we are living in the best place anyone could possibly retire.. TV :pepper2::pepper2::pepper2::pepper2:

Aw, shucks, DB! Thanks.:jester:

Villager Dude 04-27-2015 11:15 PM

One of the worst road jobs I have seen. I think they forced it open to possibly avoid contract penalties.
