Paula Hawkins' The Girl on the Train.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins | 9781594633669 | Hardcover | Barnes & Noble

I am liking this more than Gone Girl. Just started it, however.

I, too, just started this book. Can't wait to find out how it ends!

Gary7 05-02-2015 10:04 AM

I enjoyed reading "The Girl on the Train".

jtravel207 07-17-2015 04:33 PM

strange book with some twists

2newyorkers 07-17-2015 05:47 PM

Hmmmm... There are no redeeming characters in this book.

Wandatime 07-17-2015 09:12 PM

I'm in the middle of it right now! No spoilers!

My mom did not seem to like it.

Loudoll 07-27-2015 08:24 PM

I loved this book!

Wandatime 07-27-2015 08:26 PM

Well, I finished it. Very good book with characters of no redeeming qualities.

Cedwards38 07-28-2015 07:15 AM

I read it, and I really liked it, but I still rate Gone Girl a tad better.

ljarnold 07-28-2015 11:43 AM

Both "The Girl On The Train" and "Go Set A Watchman" are on my list I am very anxious to finish the book I am reading now to start on them.

Floridagal 07-28-2015 02:49 PM

Looking forward to reading "The Girl on The Train". Just downloaded the book to my kindle.

Barefoot 09-18-2015 08:57 PM

I'm about halfway through this well-written novel. It's definitely not a "feel good" book, but it certainly does hold my interest.

renielarson 09-18-2015 10:03 PM

I liked "The Girl on the Train" better than "Gone Girl" but I didn't consider either very good. However, the best book I've read lately is "On Folly's Beach". Loved that one!

Emily Blunt.

Looks like they are going to make a movie of The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt.

Villager Joyce 09-19-2015 06:41 AM

Stupid question: why do people compare Girl on the Train with Gone Girl?

They are both books with twists involving not so innocent women.

Still the series that I enjoyed the most that includes an "in your face" woman is Steig Larsson's "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" series. Unfortunately, Larsson passed away, but someone (David Lagercrantz, The Girl In the Spider Web) is trying to continue the series. I just bought that new book and I'll see if it stands up to the original quality. I sure hope so. Anyone else like these books? If you haven't read them, you're really missing something good.

I enjoyed the Swedish books and movies. The US remake of the first one was just OK.

jblum315 09-19-2015 07:23 AM

Unfortunately the new author is not as good as Larsen. And I heard that Larsens translator refused to do the translation on this one.

If you liked Gone Girl, read The Silent Wife by A.E. Harrison. Even better than Gone Girl.

CurlyGirly 09-19-2015 09:23 AM

I just finished it and I liked it. After these recommendations, looks like my next book will be Gone Girl. Thanks!

Barefoot 09-19-2015 09:21 PM

I think the book is well written, but what a bunch of dysfunctional characters!

I feel the same way about Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. I will have to check out On Folly's Beach…thanks.

Have you read The Sound of Glass? That is also a good one.
