Interesting information on the real employment data

and not the feel good, non meaningful numbers published in the media:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-0...ecord-93194000

Now which economy is it that is recovering and improving and is better today than before Obama took office.

Far too many people getting compensated by the government in one form or another for not working keeps the noise level down on the subject of employment.

So far, the effort at pumping up the stock market seems to keep everyone happy for the moment. It's kind of like a death defying magic act, and no one knows how long it will work before it stops working.

It'll stop working the second the Country is stupid enough to elect a Republican POTUS.

Hopefully, that will not happen for a loooooooooong time.

Calling people stupid? Really? This reflects badly on you.

The stock market has been up because of the artificially low interest rates and QE money printing. These policies of the current administration have helped the wealthier part of society because they are the ones who own stock. The core constituency of the democratic party continues to fall behind. How ironic is that and hypocritical is that?

What we need is a moderate republican.

Yes, the lady who made this post literally shows us she truly doesn't' understand some basic facts about the economy and wealth distribution. The people in the market (like me) have benefitted but the average guy is not in the market and thus has not benefitted.

So, the poster who likes to call people stupid shows us she readily meets the definition of stupid, but she doesn't realize it. Wealth inequality has grown, and uniformed people like her complain, plus continue to vote for Democrats anyway. America, what a country!

If we could only get back to those heady days in 2009 when the Dow was below 7000 and 750,000 people a month were losing their jobs. Oh wait, maybe we can if we elect another Bush.

The Democrats and I hope that you're able to work right up until the day you die. We need your tax revenue!:pepper2:

Just for kicks, do a little research on why the economy tanked. Specifically, look at the policies that were put in place that led to the sub-prime mortgaged fueled real estate bubble and when those policies were put in place. Your comments suggest that you don't have the slightest idea of what happened and why. If the future, stop and think before you make a post that makes it abundantly clear that you have no idea what you are talking about. I am sorry to be so blunt but it is what it is.

Exactly. When half the country is of below average intelligence, what else can you expect? Those who are analytical and/or have taken a class in statistics at some point in their lives will chuckle.

All one has to know is who was sitting in the oval office when the financial collapse occurred, you know, the 'buck stops here' stuff. It was W Bush, no matter how you try to whitewash the facts.

The same W Bush who did nothing to prevent 9/11, the same W Bush who went to war with the wrong country, the same W Bush who oversaw the Katrina disaster.

Now by gosh, we get to pick another Bush and hope for different results. That would definitely be the definition of insanity.

Guest 05-09-2015 10:53 AM

The unemployment rate has been calculated using the same formula for a long time. Think of it as a barometer and not the absolute fugure. The lower the better.

So by your logic, Obama is responsible for the rise of ISIS, the deaths in Benghazi, the IRS and Secret Service scandals, the Fast and Furious gun running scandal, and the list goes on. Or does your selective logic only apply to Republicans?

The stock market is driven by earnings. Check with your financial advisor to verify.

The president has taken responsibility for the four deaths in Benghazi, as opposed to W Bush never taking responsibility for the hundreds of thousands of deaths in Iraq.

Our president is only sworn to protect this country. He cannot keep the whole world safe.

What is scary is Jeb Bush said in a speech this week, that he gets all his mid-east and foreign policy advice from his brother George.

Dear Guest:

WOW! your response reflects that you are way over your head and out of touch as to the artificial boost the Fed has given the stock market . The uncertainty with the Fed and the pages and pages of regulations enacted over the past 6.5 years have hand tied companies despite the fact that many are sitting on a surplus Its one reason you are seeing so many mergers.

Personal Best Regards:

Guest 05-09-2015 11:53 AM

I can't believe there are still some who have the nerve to refer to the faltering economy as the fault of Bush or anybody else who is not been in office. Obama has had the reins for the last 6.5 years.

How about enlightening us as to the actions taken and results achieved by Obama and his administration that has done anything to improve the economy.

And please don't insult our intelligence by citing again, the state of the stock market as an Obama achievement.

In the unlikely event the democrats win in 2016 who will the president elect have to blame when he/she/it takes office?

No insulting economic evidence from the stock market. Just jobs, unemployment, corporate profits, consumer confidence. Fairly standard measures of how the economy is doing.

Good post, but you shouldn't try to confuse the hard right-wing with too many facts at one time.

Your mind is made up and facts apparently don't matter to you. This discussion is over because I don't debate with 2-year olds.

Only partially. It is more complicated than that. Check with someone who actually knows something.

Another intelligent well-researched reply, but not one word defending W Bush, or the heir apparent Jeb, or any of the other GOP candidates or their records. Enough said.

And what's the over/under on how many will be left after the 2016 election? I'll go with one, maybe two.

Guest 05-10-2015 05:26 AM

Please return back to your low-level clerk job with the government on Long Island.

Actually, it was Senior Executive Service, and the pension is quite good. However, thanks for your concern.

Like I said, low level clerk job - feeding at the public trough - couldn't cut it in the private sector - haha.
