"We will look for you, we will find you, and we will kill you". Plays well at NRA gathering but not very presidential. He is off my list.

He probably should have said, "we will negotiate with you, we will give you what you want, and we will pay you billions".

Makes me think of "Macbeth", act 5, scene 5: "A poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury - signifying nothing."

Did you see Rubio sweating during a televised interview? Very Nixon-esque.

By the time this is over, we will be pining for Herman Cain - 9/9/9.

And yet he is in favor of giving citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants? Sounds as if he is pandering to two sides at the same time.

Only those with a certifiable mental illness (ie liberalism) would be aghast about a President Rubio defending us, and making it clear to our enemies they will pay a price.

You remember him ,don't you? The guy Junior couldn't find after looking for 7 years. How did Junior explain his incompetence? Oh, yeah ............ "it's not like he's leading a parade or something".


Bin Laden could have rented a house right across the street from the White House and Junior wouldn't have been able to find him.

And what do you think Obama's role was? Do you honestly think that he collected the intel, planned the mission, coordinated the logistics, and executed the mission? Just because he said "I got Bin Laden" doesn't mean he had a meaning role in any part of the mission, other that giving the O.K. and then watching the mission unfold in closed circuit TV--BIG DEAL.

As has been stated in other threads..the seek and destroy of OBL started long before Obama came on the scene. And that Leopn Panetta was the real driving force for the final mission.

The reality is it just happened on Obama's watch.

Who is going to pay for all this bravado? He said he would increase defense spending, increase social spending, and cut taxes. Another thing that might merit your attention before you start shooting is Russia, China, and Iran will be able to shoot back a hell of a lot more than Iraq or Afganistan did. Be very careful what you ask for.

I respectfully suggest you study up on the notion of peach through strength. Historically, weakness invites war whereas strength tends to prevents it.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but it's just the way the world has worked since antiquity. Reagan understood it, and that's why we won the Cold War ... in spite of all the fear mongers, nuclear freezniks and other lefties who protested his policies. I think Rubio understands this notion, and that's how I took his comment.

You seem to have a degree of cyniscm in your response. I'm curious, have you ever served?

Things can happen, and people can be shot at or killed in war. I remember being shot at in combat multiple times. Yes, I was scared but no, I did not all of a sudden change my philosophy about what's best for our Country and keeping it safe.

Sometimes you may have to pay a price. The longer you wait, and the more you put it off however, the price becomes much bigger.

You were in combat and were shot at multiple times. I assume that was Vietnam. I was in the National Guard then and my job was to guard the Iowa border in the event that the VC crossed into Iowa after they captured Nebraska.

If nothing else, it certainly raises a lot of questions. Not sure what you mean by "get a grip" - does that mean we should just believe everything we are told and not question anything? Not sure where you are coming from, after all, this is not Fox News. This is coming from the NY Times, HuffPo, and apparently NBC has also reported on this.

Skepticism is always good ... paranoia not so much. The blurb at the end of the article about "more openness" is humorous in connection with intelligence operations. (oxymoronic). My question was how are you going pay for all this intervention. We have not paid for the first tomahawk missle we lobbed into Iraq yet. We are passing the cost to the generation that we sent over and their children.

The same way that we pay for everything else, we'll borrow the money from Japan and China, etc. Some people only worry about the cost when it come to military spending, while the cost of every other spending program is ignored.
