What is your favorite salty snack?

Not talking good for you, healthy or terribly nutritious.

Just what tastes wonderful in your mouth?

My latest favorite salty snack is Cheez-its new Grooves in white cheddar. Oh MY!

What is yours?

Villager Audio Video 05-18-2015 10:24 PM

Peanut butter crackers although those white cheddar grooves just made my shopping list :)

My fav salty snack is Miss Vickies potato chaps.
I never buy them cuz I'd scarf down the whole bag!
If I ever get a death sentence, I'll request Miss Vickies and Rocky Road Icecream as my last meal!

I think it is mentally healthy to give into these urges every once in awhile Bare.

It is not illegal or immoral and only a lot can be fattening./////////:read:

Pretzels, in any way, shape or form. Can only be improved by the addition of beer or vanilla ice-cream.

Bonanza 05-19-2015 02:52 AM

Yes -- pretzels and ice cream which is an old Philadelphia favorite.

If you've never had it, try it. You'll love it!

dbussone 05-19-2015 05:34 AM

Lightly salted nuts with less than 50% peanuts. My most favorite is Cape Cod potato chips though. I try to keep my intake at less than 2 bags per year.

Cisco Kid 05-19-2015 05:51 AM

I just keep a salt-block nearby that I got at the farm store.

jnieman 05-19-2015 06:29 AM

Ballreich's marcell potato chips (white bag). I order them on line 6 bags at a time. The best. They are made in Tiffin, Ohio. We used to get them when we were travelling I-75 North to Michigan.

lightworker888 05-19-2015 06:38 AM

I was so happy to find Snyder's gluten free pretzels. I can eat them by the bag so I have to take a handful and then put the bag away. I don't know how I could limit myself to two bags a year! I rationalize that they are gluten free so at least one health consideration is in the mix!

It used to be Fritos, but I've kind of lost my taste for those. Perhaps they have changed an ingredient in the recipe; I don't know.

But I have always liked those waffle crackers with fake cheddar cheese in between. Can't remember what they are called.

2newyorkers 05-19-2015 08:44 AM

Salty cashews and Tostitos. Yum!

TheVillageChicken 05-19-2015 08:50 AM

What is now called Chex Mix. When my mom made it, we called it trash.

Mudder 05-19-2015 09:47 AM

While growing up in Philadelphia my two main food groups were pretzels and ice cream. I could live on them today too! Oh, and Altho not salty I'd throw in a Philadelphia sticky bun every once in awhile.

Yum, Cape Cod potato chips are similar to Miss Vickies. A real taste treat.

Even Cape Cod's reduced-fat variety is ten times better than normal potato chips. I love the taste and especially the crunch! I only buy them when we are going on our three-day road trips to the north, as we stop at rest stops for picnics because of the pets.

Now that's something I'll have to try.

Crunchy Cheeto's

Cashews and pretzels but I hardly ever eat, either one. Gotta control the old diabetes. :D

.

Please don't tell me Fritos have changed. I remember them in high school in the 50's as the first new choice other than potato chips or pretzels. I haven't had them for years and now I got to go and buy some.

Uberschaf 05-19-2015 04:59 PM

Get the Chili Cheese.

mikeandnancy1112 05-19-2015 05:08 PM

My favorite salty snack is Vegetable Straws made with sea salt! Just bought another flavor, cheddar cheese. Both are delicious!!

The chili cheese are just awesome! Maybe they have spoiled me for the taste of the original.

They sell some pork rinds in the Winn-Dixie at LSL that are like crack. I can't remember the name. I know where they are. They call out to me when I am in the store. At home, my wife and I have had knife fights over the last remaining bits. I have heard that they are good for you.

Don't overlook the humble Dipsy Doodle.

Bonanza 05-20-2015 12:40 AM

For all you potato chip lovers, after trying practically all of them, Costco's own brand wins the prize.
Kirkland Chips with sea salt are absolutely the best.
Talk about crunch; wow!

Hmmmmm . . . Knife fights are good for you, huh?
I guess I'll have to mention that to my husband.
He'll love it because he'll win!

It did give me a great laugh at the end of an otherwise nasty day.

I have a salt lick in my back yard that satisfies all my salty desires...I only have to shoo the buffalo away from it...
