Why Are You Not A Carnivore or Vegetarion
I'm interested in why people are vegans. Hopefully, this thread will be limited to comments from vegans.
I'll go first: I'm a vegan because I read The China Study by T. Colin Campbell PhD.. His extensive studies of both small animals and a large 20+ year human population study proved to my satisfaction that animal protein promotes cancer. That's not to mention many other degenerative diseases that can be avoided by eating a plant-only diet. I decided that as far as other regimens go, taste is good but not so good if you don't have good health. Good health is paramount. I can't imagine how I would enjoy life if I had cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis or some other degenerative disease. |
I am a carnivore because I believe that nature intended me to be so. That it is a natural thing to do for homo sapiens.
|
I am a flexitarian because it is moderation, and I like to do things in moderation. When we went out to eat, One of my friends insisted her peppers/mushrooms/whatevers not be cooked on the same grill as meat. If it is true cooks spit in food, she has probably eaten more spit than anyone else on the planet.
|
I eat a majority of fruits and vegetables and grains because I like them and I know they are healthy for me. That is why I limit fat and try not to overeat.
|
My friend back in Wisconsin weeded her yard yesterday. For dinner last night she had.......Stinging Nettle, Garlic Mustard, Dandelion, Chive, and Virginia Waterleaf Pesto. She posted a picture of it. It looked good and she said it was delicious......hmmm. I don't know....maybe I'd give it a try.

Flexitarian - I like that very much. With your permission I will describe myself with that descriptor. It fits well. |
Quote:
Define Flexitarian at Dictionary.com Flexitarian definition, a person whose diet is mostly vegetarian but sometimes includes meat, fish, or poultry. |

I betcha lots of Villagers are Flexitarians. I wonder if an occasional glass of wine can be included in the Flexitarian diet. After all, wine comes from grapes. :wine: |

"Why are you not a vegetarian or carnivore?" ...and then you ask that responses come from vegans? I'm confused.

Amen to that. You know it's on the good list. |

And whipped cream counts as dairy. ;-D

I consider myself an omnivore. The only things I refuse to eat are turnips, okra and haggis.

I consider myself a "Flexianything."
If I like it, I eat it and I don't take or need any medication. I am healthy and my doctor has never chastised me. So much for veganism. It takes too much time to make that stuff taste good. |
Huh ???????

You might want to check the definition of the word. The vast majority of degenerative diseases cannot be avoided by eating a plant diet. Where did you get that piece of information or are you simply "assuming?" Where does it say that food doesn't taste good unless you are in good health? Question: Do you put ketchup on your twigs and lichens? |

Since the OP has started a new thread to turn the discussion in the direction he desires, this thread is closed. Please see the new thread, Vegans: Why are you not a carnivore or vegetarian?
