The only thing certain in life is death and taxes. It seems that the GOP's problem is the former, their members are dying off, literally.

By the 2016 election, almost three million Romney voters will have passed away. Of course, democratic voters have also died, but the difference is that they are being replaced by younger voters. Not so for republicans.

Younger people are not going to vote for the party that thinks women should not be able to choose what they do with their own bodies. They will not vote for the party that believes an employer should dictate what birth control a woman can use, or even if a woman be allowed to use birth control.

They will not vote for the party that excludes people because of who they love. Or excludes people because of their religious beliefs. The list is long and getting longer.

The GOP is out of step with the average American and can't win a presidential election without women, blacks, Hispanics, the LGBT community, and all other groups.

Every once in a while you stumble into a news cycle and think, “This cannot be a coincidence.”

As news reports bring word that Hillary Clinton is still refusing to answer questions from the press, Ramadi falls to ISIS, and things just aren’t going well for the Democrats right now, fear not. The press steps in with its usual “The GOP is doomed” headlines.

We begin on May 16th with the Washington Post. The GOP has such a big field of candidates, party leaders are “anxious about their chances in ’16.” That’s the actual title. It seems having such a deep field is a bad thing, unlike last time when having such a shallow field was a bad thing.

If only the GOP would coronate one candidate, just like the Democrats.

Keeping up the theme, the New York Times on the same day, claimed the GOP was baiting the left to turn on Hillary. The Democrats, you see, are so united for Hillary that the GOP is forced to spend money to try to drum up a primary for Hillary Clinton.

Slate rushed in with some back patting for the Democrats. Turns out ISIS’s leader is just like a Republican candidate for President. Fear not Democrats, they’re all just an easily beaten fringe.

The Atlantic chimed in yesterday that if you watch Fox News, you are stupid, dumb, and incapable of grasping reality. Fear not Democrats, the Republicans are so deluded that there is no way they can win.

And today the Politico gets in on the game. Yes, “the GOP is dying off. Literally.” That’s their headline.

The GOP will not pick up millennials, it is the party of old people, and it is just so outdated.

So fear not Democrats. The media has you covered. The GOP will never win again because it is closed minded, only watches Fox, is fringey like ISIS, is dying off, has too many candidates for President, and is only pretending to give Hillary a hard time.

Hey, perhaps the corollary here is that the press has convinced the Democrats they have nothing to fear and the coronation of an old corrupt lady from New York for President who won’t answer questions is brilliant strategy.

No, it just has to be a coincidence that on the same weekend five major media outlets run the same basic talking points against the GOP.

Well, if that is truly the case, I hope the country can continue to circle the drain until I finally expire.

One problem ... if the entire GOP dies off, the Democrats will no longer have anyone left to tax and the whole motley Democrat crew will have to get a job, but there won't be any job creators left!.

There is justice after all :)

yes, there is justice and your post made me smile but unfortunately there is a deep basis in truth to what you say. a sad state of affairs.

This is too humorous for words ... a person (ie you) who relies on "Think Progress" for her news and various TOTV postings ... is now posting to advise us of the perils of reading or watching Fox.

I am always amused when someone finds an article that that fits their purpose, they immediately accept and promote it as if it were an actual truth.

Does ANYONE really think the only real republicans are us old white, comfortable ones waiting to go to the next retirement level?

Do THEY really think all the "young" people are in the same ilk as the democratic persuasion?

Articles like this are not to discourage the republicans who are capable of sorting the BS from reality.......they really to keep their democrats in line who are on the knife's edge of giving up on incompetance, self serving, all talk and no results, politically trapped old cronies.

They obviously know nothing about statistical reality.

Just like on this forum, we all know there are democrats who do not feel that Obama or their party has delivered on what has been promised. They do not like the deterioration of the position of the USA in the world today. They do not like the inaction against the terrorism being tolerated. They do not like the killing of thousands of innocents and being displaced from their homes as "...a bump in the road...".
And on and on.

We all know they will not speak out abut their dislikes. also know these are the dems the party is concerned will spaeak their mind in the voting booth where they can finally be honest with themselves and vote against more of the same and personally save face with their conscience.

The only statistical reality anyone needs to know is democrats won the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections, from 1992 to 2012. If Hillary Clinton wins, that will make it six out of seven. The exception was in 2004, George W Bush beat John Kerry, and we all know how that worked out.

You're joking right about the job creators? It would take both Bushes combined to equal the number of jobs created under President Obama. It would take four Bushes combined to equal the number of jobs created under President Clinton. Google it.

I do think you need to go back through the same periods you refer and check the number of jobs that left the USA. How many manufacturing operations ceased to exist.

While you are at it do not forget to get a good feel for the types of jobs blue collar and white collar that were elimnated VS the burger flippers and clerks and part time and temporary jobs that were so called "added". And then be sure to take into account the number of people (millions) who have given up on looking for employment and are no longer counted in the feel good employment number.

You and I both know the GOPers tend to be the job creators, most of which occurs in small business. We also know that you do not know what you're talking about in terms of selective stats. We also know that your primary reference, even if not stated in your posts, comes from "Think Progress" and other far left sites.

Consequently, unless you want to go to work, you better hope the GOPers stick around. What will you do when you go to redistribute wealth, but discover the wealth is no longer there.?

I think all know who that poster is and her cronies.

Thankfully, they are fully charged radicals who represent a fringe, and before anyone says it....the Tea Party also has a fringe element and I discount them as well.

What strikes me about these few posters is their goal ignoring of anything of substance. To them life begins ands with favorable polls, and attacking anyone who does not think their way.

They "seem" to ascribe to the Alinsky theory of attack anyone who does not agree. Notice how our President does the same thin,even within his own party.

This is not in anyway a condemnation of the Democratic Party,nor a push for the GOP. Just a fact about a few posters on here who live by an ideology, and not principles. I do not believe it to be more than 3 or 4 but they post continually.

They preach hate, and then criticize others who they say hate....they preach tolerance, and show total intolerance to others. I suspect their day is complete only if the can attack someone.

Country needs a dialogue on a lot of things. Thankfully this person, and her little group know so very little about anything but their ideology makes them ineligible for reasonable conversation.

Oh, if only it were so simple as one party having all the answers...would sure make life simple. I suspect that this simplicity is what drives these few ideologues since they cannot even recognize the hypocrisy of their attacks. They seem to feel that THEY, and THEY alone get to choose what race, what age,what nationality is to be offered up. Then turn around and support the hate of any group they, or their ideological websites decide to hate. Votes, polls, and hate are the primary colors.

The message I get from her posts, and those of her cronies is that they want SINGLE PARTY rule, much as was fostered in the past in other countries.

They seem to support anyone in that party no matter what is known. They harangue on those who make and earn money, yet idolize a woman who is the epitome of everything they "say" they hate. All Hillary Clinton needs to do is change part affiliation and she is the enemy.

Of course, both parties do this, but these few posters are so far left, they cannot even see not only the center,but the left of center. Radicalism defined. Hypocrisy defined.

Again, this applies only to those few posters who gang together to flood the board. Reasonable people of both parties can discuss, disagree and find at least, an adult position not bases on hate and hypocrisy

Even Rahm Emanuel finally figured out he had to lead like a conservative Republican or Chicago was going down the tubes and he is making progress.

The types of jobs matter. Wages matter. Percentage of the workforce with jobs matter. Dig deeper into the stats instead of cherry picking. As in most things in life, a few simple stats don't explain things. Do some real research on where we actually stand economically. Politicians take both blame and credit for things they really don't control. The real damage of government policies often take a long time to manifest itself. Do yourself a favor and make a real commitment to understanding what is really going on instead of grasping a few talking points you might hear from a talking head. The average person is simply a tool to be used and manipulated by both sides of the aisle. If you think your side of the aisle is any better than the other side you are sadly mistaken and very naive.

Most economists are struggling a lot trying to find out what is going on. The unemployment numbers are up for discussion, and even Kiplinger is struggling to make sense. And this correct...TYPES of jobs are a big part of that discussion.

We are increasing the number of people that are receiving compensation without working or producing anything. That includes federal, state, and local public sector employees drawing pensions and medical care. Some of these for as little as 20 years of work. These can be paid for 40 to 50 years. In theory tax payers can be paying 4 employees when only one is working. We are increasing disability retirements at record pace with a low threshhole and a big assist from legal community. Our poor, unemployed or under employed add to these cost. We have segments of our society making millions without working or working very little. Private sector pensions are part of this but are disappearing very quickly. Private sector employment is also shrinking quickly with exception of service and medical sectors. You could argue the medical community really doesn't add to the country's wealth but really redistributes it and makes the problems worse by keeping us who are in the above mentioned collecting benefits longer. We are very much like Detroit and Greece only we have a money machine that is allowed to produce dollars at the expense of future generations. The debate over republicans and democrats just gives us cover to ignore what we are doing.

Historically speaking, this type of situation has never worked out well for nations in the past. When adjustments come, and they are inevitable, they come pretty quickly and can get pretty ugly.

I feel so, so sorry and bad for our kids and grandkids. We have all let them down in so many ways.

The only way we have let the future generations down is by our actions in the voting booth. Voters refuse to impose term limits by continuing to vote for incumbents.

This does not seem to matter to the party loyalists or activists or radicals.
They do not seem to care about anything except electing their candidate.....NO MATTER WHAT!

You forgot the illegals that are crossing by the hundreds of thousands and the Democrat votes being flown in from C. A. These will be planted in GOP strong holds to snuff out any opposition. Glad I won't be around in 20 years. China will be the world leader and USA will be 3rd world country like India few very rich and lots of poor. Too bad you won't be around to see it either. Thank you for kind words. Although we are a small minority there some of us who own up to what we are doing and would really like to go after it. Because of my grandchildren I worry about the irreparable damage we are doing and refuse to even acknowledge.

Speaking of voters dying off ... people forget that the Democrats have killed millions of potential voters via abortion, something like 50 million since 1973. Thus, it's understandable why they now favor open borders. The only way they can stay in power is to import millions of poor, ignorant and socialist inclined (ie Mexican) voters to fill the gap.

Corrupt. Immoral. Incompetent ... vote Democrat 2016.

Don't blame only the Democrats. The Republicans also want and demand cheap labor and they get it from these poor Latin immigrants ! Dems and Reps are just two sides of the same coin.
