Villages jingle
 

When I go to The Villages website I no longer automatically hear the jingle. Call me crazy bit when I hear that jingle I smile.

I beg to differ... when I hear that jingle I feel embarrassed!

Embarrassed. ?...Really? It's a cute little jingle .What's there to he embarrassed about?:confused:

I actually smile when I hear it but I have to say when I was in my 30s and 40s I would see the ad on television and hear that jingle and roll my eyes - it seemed so old fashioned or dated, but hey, it's catchy!

Bring back the jingle!
 

What did happen to the jingle? I just checked The Villages web site after not looking at it for a couple of weeks, and no jingle. :(

I don't think I feel embarrassed but I think the jingle worked against them for some people.

When I told my son about the villages he told me that they had been advertising for years on the golf channel and he was surprised I missed it. I think I tuned the commercials out because of that jingle. That jingle sent the message to me of old fashion, corny and gimmicky. It was an advertising tactic used by used car salesman and mattress kings. No one wants to be tricked.

I think it sent the wrong message. If they portrayed the villages honestly they would have had my interest sooner. To my regret, it got in my way.

Worked against??? How do you explain 125,000 folks?

Yeah. I'd say it was an advertising masterpiece.

I get offended by other stuff. I would never dream to dislike the jingle or worry about stucco.

When I see The Villages signs I sing that jingle and it drives my wife nuts. :sing:

I didn't want to come and check out The Villages because of that jingle - it was so corny. I think it appealed to an older generation.

I love the jingle....it has been my ringtone for the last year.

Before retiring, while I was getting ready for work with Fox and Friends on, I'd hear the commercial and go to the television and watch. Made me happy to think one day it would be our forever home.

I'd seen the commercial for years in Miami and kinda had that same feeling. "yeah... right... friendly people on bicycles... give me a break." The song was catchy in that annoying (make fun of it) sort of way.
Luckily we had a friend who'd moved here years earlier and decided to give it a look. One visit and we bought a house.
The song doesn't annoy me anymore. What does is every politician who shows up and says "It's a beautiful day in the Villages..." then looks around with a big smile waiting for the applause... now that's corny.

Like 55 and older, what a coincidence.

That's the first time I've ever heard that jingle. It wouldn't have kept us away, but I must say it's a bit hokey/sappy! But I've heard worse.

I guess the developers felt it was time to move on. They probably have a new ad and jingle in the works that's geared for the next generation of 55+.

The jingle worked for a lot of people. I was telling you my opinion. That's all.

The jingle DID/DOES work for a lot of people. Got me here... and puts a smile on my face every time I hear it.

I'm from the school that it's better to view/enjoy a cup as 1/2 full vs. 1/2 empty.

Except at the Villages, the cup is 2/2 full! The jingle portrays happiness for retirees. It's not hokey. I wake up every morning happy.

Its that jingle that got us to look at The Villages. Every weekend back in the mid 2000's I heard it during that week's televised PGA Tour Tournament. After a few years of hearing it, in 2006 I said to my wife, "you know, that place is not that far from us" (we lived in Tampa then). We started visiting and bought in 2013. All thanks to that commercial with the jingle!!

I've been here coming up on 6 years,I'm only 57 & I really like the jingle. So much for appealing only to "old" people.

We moved here in 2000 and I was 48. I liked the jingle. I always thought it was catchy and fun.

It was a winner! I too don't know why you would change a winner. Of course, I was (I guess) born with the gene----"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

They remind me of the villages jingle. The jingle is sung by a choir. It's possible maybe even likely that the jingle was selected to appeal to people who raised their children in the 50's and they bought on the historical side and 20 years later appealed to the children who were raised in the 50's and moved in the Sumter area as the village grew. So it's brilliant appeal is that it's both hip to some and nostalgic to others.

That is unless you are one of those lost souls who rebelled against the older generation and didn't trust anyone over the age of 30. Now I can't swim with anyone under the age of 30 in my neighborhood pool.

Why move on now? I've read The Village of Pine Ridge (Fruitland Park) is the last stage of building in The Villages. No more new homes so why remove the jingle now?

Well, hmm... It does make you wonder, doesn't it? I hadn't read that until today. If it's true, maybe they removed the jingle because they're getting ready to quit developing.

As much as some people may like to automatically listen to "The Villages" theme song tune when they go to the homepage of The Villages ... it is against "best practices" for websites to have music play automatically.

What the webmaster may consider is a "play" button on the homepage that people can initiate the play of the "The Villages" theme song.

Let me tell you a story. That jingle got me and Sheldon through some mighty dark days. When he was going through cancer, chemotherapy, cancer metastasized to the brain, more chemotherapy, and whole brain radiation, we would spend our evenings looking at The Villages website and fantasizing about the day when he would be healed and we would be living in The Villages. Now, all that listening to the jingle and visualizing our future may or may not have something to do with his remarkable recovery that left even the doctors making comments, but I am here to tell you, I LOVE that jingle. It marked a crossroads for us.
