The Villages invaded by small bugs!

Yikes! The bugs have invaded! According to Dean's, they should be gone in a couple of days. According to them, it happens every few years, and the little critters only live 6-12 hours.

Any pictures. I haven't seen any unusual bugs recently.

Pictures, names, or descriptions would be very helpful to all of us.

Most Pest Control companies are overwhelmed with calls today! No pictures, but I have talked to several people that have them. Bugs must fear you!

According to Dean's, they are a type of ant. Some with wings. Can invade a house through very small cracks. It's a an occurence that happens after a very dry period, followed by rain. They say their life span is very short. Really no harm to anything.

Chi-Town 06-03-2015 03:53 PM

Massey said the same thing exactly.

Ants with wings are usually termites. Right now they are swarming based on my discussions with long time Floridians.

We have noticed them in the last two days. The same thing occurred two years ago. They died off. You're right...nothing to worry about.

Yes, the winged ants were plentiful in Lake Miona pool. Harmless but irritating as we were participating in SHYNE class this morning. All were dead...

pegrimmer 06-03-2015 04:49 PM

"yes we have them and we just had a termite inspection so I do not believe that is our problem. Never had them in the last five years.

Might be something to worry about if they are swarming around your home.

Susan G 06-03-2015 04:54 PM

Plenty of the tiny winged ant-like buggers in Lake Miona pool while we were having SHYNE class this morning. All were dead...

redwitch 06-03-2015 06:25 PM

They were literally dropping from the ceiling onto the bridge tables yesterday at Lake Miona Rec Center. Very irritating, but definitely harmless.

By the thousands

I agree it's an invasion! These little bugs are in my pool by the thousands! They land on the cage roof screen and the rain pushed them into the pool and on the deck. We have seen a few in the house. They are harmless and die quickly. Can't swim in the pool until they go away. Just too many to get out. I remember them from last year. They are just pesky!!

Chi-Town 06-03-2015 06:42 PM

Can't wait to see what my pump filter is going to look like

bachfan 06-03-2015 08:26 PM

They are called blind mosquitos. They don't bite but are annoying. In Mt Dora a feed years ago they were so bad they had to shovel them up. They like white cars, that I know for fact.

BogeyBoy 06-03-2015 08:26 PM

I drove to Ocala today and my windshield was covered - smaller than love bugs but messed up my clean car!

bagboy 06-03-2015 08:36 PM

We drove on the turnpike yesterday and our windshield was covered with them. When we arrived home, they were swarming in the driveway. I drove around in the rain to get them off. I've never seen bugs that bad, not even love bugs.
