|
There should be a line, "Pickles consumed this week"
|
Also shows something called tags underneath and outside the body of the posts and there are words included IN the post.
You aren't seeing this DWilson? |

This isn't clear because I don't know how to kill the flash, but here is a picture of my screen and look at the "tag" words at the bottom too.

I have never seen this on any other forum that I use. It might be an oops?

I see it.

I am seeing the tags, 16 so far.

Yes, very strange or new or different or what the heck! Thanks and likes might be OK but DISLIKES - enough negativity already! change in thinking? "Reminder do not direct comments toward other users. Your post will be removed" |
Yes Gracie, seeing this as well. Thank you for pointing this out.
|
It looks like a "scorecard". I have been on other forums where you can go to a posters profile page and vote on them and their posts.
Example: "Mrs Ronobson" has a stiffy for "Carolsold" (because she made a mean remark about "Mrs Robnobson"'s opinion on working out of your home). "Mrs. Robnobson" can go and give her a dislike...WOW! is "Carolsold" gonna be sorry for that remark... |

Take a look again. I just changed yours by clicking the icon to the right of Post Thanks / Like |
Strange they would not tell us about this beforehand!!

On a positive note, I get to use the Screen of Death icon, one of my favorites! :Screen_of_Death: |
Bad idea.
This was tried on another board I visit, but it was removed when it was discovered that a clique was organizing to bully a member by entering large numbers of "dislikes" on his posts.
Dump it! |
This will not turn out well.

Do we really need a an organized and sanctioned popularity contest?
I thought we were done with that nonsense in about 5th grade. Being able to load up somebody's profile with dozens of "Dislikes" is every cyber-bully's DREAM. Watch for bullies to increase here, and for thoughtful, tolerant people to "Exit stage left". |
The thought occurred to me that this forum might have been hacked.
Now I'm paranoid. |

I agree. Dump it. |
I see it as well.
Without much need for explanation it is very "social network-like". And for me there is not one piece of information I need or will add to the enjoyment of an already pretty well configured site. Looks like change for the sake of change with little of no added value. But most certainly adds complexity and time consumed and cost to have available. Like the many social sites available to us all, I will not use any of these new indicators. Admin, if it has to be, please include an option to opt out to use it and to not have it displayed. |
Also a waste of screen space. Adds 1 inch to each posting on my screen:Screen_of_Death:
|
I guess they might be looking to get people "involved" by having them compete for more and more "likes." For some reason there are people who think it's important.
|
This looks like a work-in-progress feature to me that was maybe made visible to the users prematurely. If you go to UserCp and then Settings you'll see to options related to this, but it didn't make sense to me.

Clicked the "turn-off" buttons in settings. Seems to work. |

Thanks! |
I changed the settings and it seems to have worked! But, I must say I like having the newst posts on top! Sure beats having to scroll down the entire page to see them!
Update: It looked like it was going to work but all the information still showed when it was posted! |

I'm not sure how I feel about the new descriptors. I don't know what else to call them.
Thanks [given and received] This looks like a useful short cut. Likes, Dislikes "A like button, like option, or recommend button is a feature in communication software such as social networking services, Internet forums, news websites and blogs where the user can express that they like, enjoy or support certain content. Internet services that feature like buttons usually display the number of users who liked each content, and may show a full or partial list of them. This is a quantitative alternative to other methods of expressing reaction to content, like writing a reply text." So pushing "like or unlike" means you agree or disagree with the content. I think this is confusing and juvenile as others suggested. Why not have buttons that say I "agree or disagree"? Or just drop it all together because there is an emoticon available for that. |
I might be missing something, but if I'm looking at the correct area, all the numbers (except for "posts") show as 0 anyway. Not sure I see what's going on here.

You can go into your settings and remove the stats |
I am extremely disappointed that I have not received one single "dislike" !!!
Clearly I will have to upgrade my game. |
Help
Seems as if it would help if the Admins would weigh in on this. Otherwise, it appears to be lots of speculation and confusion.
More speculation: Maybe this is just a test run? I do remember several asking why there was no way to "like" something someone had written, but I don't remember anyone asking for a "dislike". Dunno. |

Go to Usercp. Left click it. At the bottom of the page, click on Settings. The 2nd block "Postbit Settings", click on all three to stop the stuff. |
This same thing was tried on a Razorbacks website; like a previous response said, a group of a**holes got together and put a huge amount of dislikes on anyone that disagreed with what they said. Geez, Mod, we're grown ups, not Ned the reader in the first grade.
